I think the last time I went to Austin was when I was like...14. I do wish I could go more often, though. It was just such an interesting place.

Very different compared to the rest of Texas.  Austin has elements of a West Coast City on a very small scale.  It is the most "diverse" city I can think of in Texas with distinct neighborhoods and what not.

I love geography and history.  I also travel everywhere.  I've been to nearly every state and to many places within those states.  Don't ask me which state's I haven't been too... that burden is too much for me.

It is a blessing and a curse.  Be happy with what you've done and if you really want to go places, save up for the future so you can. :)  Part of the journey is getting there.

You can also say that to an extent with my city. People have described it as a sort of... speck of blue in the big red state.
Just...not as large or "modern" as Austin

You are right there on the edge.  Your city is a "college" town which gives it that blue, as well as the large Hispanic population.

I've been near Laredo but never actually there.  Corpus Cristi then to Brownsville.  Brownsville was pretty crummy actually....

I live in probably the most liberal city in America... But it's very pretty.  But we have this really bad homelessness issue going on.  They city keeps allowing these homeless people to camp everywhere and they are really trashing up the city.  I understand homeless people need a place too, but the city really has to clean it up.  You can't have them having free reign to sleep in people's yards and peeing on our driveways...

Plus the ocean at Corpus is pretty nice. :)  Nice for this part of the country I'd say.  The island chain (sorry I forgot their names) has some neat beaches.  I think it's Padre Island or something?  I am probably wrong.

Padre Islands, yeah.

Really? CC has a nice beach? I've been there, it's always felt kinda eh. I've been told outside here it's known to be kinda shitty.

Okay.  In all honesty, I don't think I will be going there as my company has nothing to really do there. ;)  But hey, if I get sent ti southern TX, and I got time with a rental car, I will do it for ya. :)  I wanna go visit Laredo's hospital they closed down. ;D  I remember you telling me about it. lol.

I also remember that one time I think Rainy and I were giving you live weather reports as you were in-between storms or something. :D

CC's beach was "nice" for that part of the country.  The better stuff was Padre Island.  Personally I like the beaches on the west coast and Florida.  Those are the beaches you see in postcards. ;)
