Stellar freaking topic. I love the entries so far! Here’s my top 5, near enough.

Yeah dude! Just got on my messenger bag and my headband mounted monocle - out here trading slices with a dinosaur! This cover always gets me pumped. I gotta go stop that darn “Campaigner” from "magnifying the ages!”  ???

The splashing liquid color is commonplace, but I’m a sucker for it every time. The fact that it’s Mickey makes the image even harder to forget.

The drawing itself may be nothing noteworthy, but the game depicted stands out like crazy. Especially back before there were 50 sequels. Besides, I just find regular idling cows inherently funny. You could replace this entry with Earthworm Jim for that reason.

Behold: It’s GARBAGE! My brother had this poster and I swear I somehow used to think it was awesome. But they look like manikins that weren’t custom made for fighting poses, and yet one employee stayed overnight at the mall doing the best they could. And the manikin they spent the most time on fell at the last minute and broke, so they couldn’t even use it. This is my tribute to that employee.

….Are you seeing this? What even is that?! Are those real clay sculptures? This is the most incredible box I can name.  8)

I love the Epic Mickey one. I actually have a poster of it in my room :P
I was obsessed with that game when it came out. The concept art is some of my favorite of all time.

And of course, the Pikmin 2 box art is lovely. Love me my Pikmin.

Katamari's is great because of how simple it is, but shows how goddamn bizarre it is.

Never got to play Katamari.  I can't get the courage to spend $40 dollars for it still on Steam. :P

From what I've heard, they made the box art like that to make the game stand out from other games of the space shooter kind.

From what I read in Wikipedia, that seems to be the case.

I remember hearing something about that.

I wonder how well that worked.

From what I can find, it didn't sell well.  Lol.

But it of course is now wanted by game collectors because of it's odd box art.

Yes there are game box collectors.

That is not a surprise. I mean, the point of this thread is to discuss box art as... art. So it would make sense to want to collect it like any other art piece.
