I donated to Harvey and will have to again for Irma.  Really do hope people followed the warnings and left to avoid the brunt of this.

Thoughts and prayers to everyone involved with Hurricane Irma.  First we had Harvey and now Irma.  A one two punch and a major challenge to our local and federal agencies.  Pray for all the people and hopefully everyone heeded the evacuation orders.

To help the people in need from Hurricane Harvey or Hurricane Irma, you can donate here to the American Red Cross.  We need to support these people in these two remarkable and horrible events.

Here are two live channels of storm coverage.

Hurricane Irma is making SECOND landfall right now, first US landfall.  This is happening live as a Category 3.  It is hitting Marco Island and the eyewall blasting Naples, Florida right now.

If you want to see the storm at it's worst right now, watch the Weather Channel above.

We are also finding out that Miami's downtown district is currently under water, even though they are not being hit by the center of Irma.

Reports of a crane that has collapsed in Miami too.

What people will have to worry about in the coming hours, will be storm surge.  This will be a bigger issue in Florida then it was with Harvey.

BREAKING NEWS: US National Weather Service has now downgraded Hurricane Irma to category 2.  That is great news for bigger cities such as Sarasota and Tampa which are next to be hit.  Category 2 still has winds over 110mph.

That's good to hear that it's weakened.

Storm surge will be bad as the back end of the hurricane is now going to be onshore and just pushing ocean water onto the low elevation land of Florida, which is mostly swamp.

There is already flooding far up north in Georgia too.

10 to 15 feet of storm surge around Naples.

5-8 feet around Tampa.

That is EXTRA water that will be above the sea level.  Could be devastating.

Video is calm now from Naples.  Storm has gone over them.  They are in the eye of the hurricane now.  It will pick up again.

It shows you how insignificantly small we really are.

Thankfully, so far reports have been good in Florida.  Very premature, but no major damage around the western coast.  Structures have stayed up so far.  Good job in engineering especially after hearing islands in the Caribbean having up to 90% of the buildings on them destroyed.  American engineering advancements and good code work.

The eastern coast of Florida, while not taking a direct hit, has so far been much worse in terms of structures standing, but it is still too early to report all.  We know at least one construction crane fell down.

Here are some of the latest images coming in from downtown Miami.  Storm surge is already happening there.

Haven't gotten much from western Florida in terms of photography, but here is some photos from Cuba as Hurricane Irma punched through as a category 4.

CUBA PHOTOS

No reports of loss of life so far in Cuba, but we are hearing it was devastating.
