A topic for Simulator Game Discussions.
-
Perfect timing, a classic is returning with a whole new game.
A major staple in Microsoft's portfolio was also revealed, Microsoft Flight Simulator is coming back in 2020 allows pilots and players to fly the world in their most detailed landscapes and planes ever. This is a huge hit with the simulation community. Since the release of the original MFS, it has been one of the best selling franchises for the Redmond based company.
-
^ Thats huge news right there to have a new Flight Sim from Microsoft. I used to spend way too much time as a kid flying around.
-
So simulator racing games I assume would also be included in this topic like Asetto Corsa or Gran Turismo.
-
Yeah, they would be included.
-
Good. :) I will be able to contribute more to this topic.
-
I used to love games like Roller Coaster Tycoon and I loved Planet Coaster. Well now the same studio who made the excellent Planet Coaster is making PLANET ZOO. :D It looks awesome.
-
^ I used to play games like Zoo Tycoon. :) I'm looking forward to Planet Zoo. That studio did great with Planet Coaster.
-
I'm looking forward to Planet Zoo. :D Just saw some videos on it.
-
A new zoo game? :D I used to play those kind of games along with the Sims.
-
Gamescon is revealing a lot about this game.
-
I'm looking forward to Planet Zoo. :D Just saw some videos on it.
Me too! I remember the old Zoo Tycoon games.
-
In less than a month on this day, that game will be out.
-
Microsoft Flight Simulator looks stupendous. This video goes in depth about how it is being made and how it works by well known sim-Youtube, Squirrel.
-
That looks quite frankly, amazing. Now if only there was a driving sim where you could drive anywhere in the world too.
-
I will say that looks amazing. I'm not technical enough to fly an airplane, but it looks stunning.
Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster is more my pace. ;D No real risk.
-
Planet Zoo released today. :)

SCS plans to rework some French cities now too! Just like they are doing with German cities (https://blog.scssoft.com/2020/02/ets2-137-rework-of-french-cities.html).
SCS plans to rework some French cities now too! Just like they are doing with German cities (https://blog.scssoft.com/2020/02/ets2-137-rework-of-french-cities.html).
New tanker trailer has been discovered too!
And yes, wrong topic. ;D
Maybe if there is a need(enough players) for a TRUCK SIMULATOR GAME topic we should just make one...
-
Well, since ETS/ATS has some critical differences from train/plane/city simulation games, it's a good idea to make separate topic (or at least, for all driving games).
After all, there is a few topics about specific franchises, so why not?
-
I do play em.... maybe we should.
We could be overarching an make it "Driving games"
-
I made a topic... but now I feel I should have just kept trucking simulator convo in here. lol.
-
It would be great if someone will rip the *TS-related posts from this topic and add them to new one (making this topic a few times shorter :D).
-
I know someone who can.
Hey!!! HEY YOU LAZY BUM! Can you do that for us please? @Darrin
PLEASE?

Whaaaa? *Wakes up surrounded by a pile of root beer cans.*
Yeah, yeah, I will get to it.

New Sims type game called, PARALIVES.
https://www.paralives.com
-
MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR will be the largest game world ever made and it will have at least 37,000 world airports and all detailed. This was in a press release by the studio. They have some awesome new info an screens on their website.
https://www.flightsimulator.com
We are led to believe the whole world will be 3D detailed, simialr to how Apple Maps or Google Maps does their 3D mapping, but instead this game will be more detailed.

It is amazing how this game is shaping up and how it looks. If you explore Google Earth and always wanted to fly over it, this game might be that remedy. Also talk about an awesome tool for pilots and aspiring pilots, and for those who will never fly.

There are rumors from Reddit (super unreliable) that a Cities:Skylins 2 is in the works. I mean we know they will make one eventually, but this person says they will make it so we can make entire countries. So it sounds more like a wishlist. Nonetheless, this persons post has now been used in a few articles.
-
This looks great! :D New trailer for Cities:Skylines Sunset Harbor. Looks like tons of improvements. I also noticed how they said "state connections." Hmmm?
-
And another bit of info now released for Sunset Harbor expansion is that they are adding new biomes! Dessert and swampland! For the first time we can build cities in these regions. Game addition comes out March 26, 2020. So just a few days!
-
^ I'm excited. :) Hopefully it isn't a speedy DLC. $10 bucks is good.
-
*spendy DLC.
-
Apart from the paid DLC Sunset Harbor, people also get all this content free un the update tomorrow!
-
Everything new in Sunset Harbor!
-
And release day. It costs $15 bucks which is more than most of their DLC's I believe.
-
Sunset Harbor has a lot of great additions and I am enjoying it... but $15 bucks is sort of hard to spend for what is basically reskins of stuff the game sort of already had.
-
Yeah, I might wait till the price drops a bit. I see what you mean, Grape.
-
I'd wait on Sunset Harbor honestly. It looked promising in the heat of the moment, and it is good, but not worth that price.
-
I think this would be considered simulation.
NASCAR Heat 5 comes out July 7, 2020
-
Yeah that counts. It's nice to see them progress the game little by little each year. The car models look nice.
But once they build the game, they have very little to update each year other than schedules, color schemes, and driver names. I wish they would do a LOT more to make the game better. Deeper career mode, etc.
-
Finally Paralives will reveal their characters on Tuesday!

Q&A overview of the games latest mechanics! Super excited about this.

About time.
Codemasters Regains WRC License After 18 Years
Article (https://www.ign.com/articles/codemasters-wrc-license).
Codemasters has secured the official WRC (World Rally Championship) license as part of a new deal that runs through until 2027. This restores the license to Codemasters, who last made an official WRC licensed game in 2002.
As reported by GamesIndustry, Codemasters has signed the exclusive five-year deal that not only allows the company to develop and publish official WRC games, but also run associated esports tournaments.
The developer’s last game shipped as an official WRC product was 2002’s Colin McRae Rally 3. The license was then passed to Evolution Studios, who began the WRC series in 2001. The official license was picked up by developer Milestone in 2010, and then Kylotonn in 2015. Kyloton and publisher BigBen Interactive will maintain the license until 2023, when it will pass over to Codemasters.
With the WRC series, Codemasters will have two rally franchises in-house, as the developer currently has the Dirt series, itself the evolution of the once WRC-official Colin McRae Rally games. Codemasters plans to continue Dirt, and already has another entry planned ahead of the start of their tenure on WRC in 2023. This will also mark the company’s second major license; Codemasters currently develops the official F1 racing video games.

Here is a game I am looking forward to.
It is called "NEWCITY." Think classic city building but in the 21st century.
-
^ That looks interesting.
-
There is a BIG blog update. ;) SCS has an update for American Truck Simulator fans coming real soon!
BIG IN IDAHO (https://blog.scssoft.com/2020/06/big-in-idaho.html)

Interesting little game... not really a simulation but it kind of falls into a city builder game. It's really joy a "toy." It's called Townscaper.

Visually, this game looks stunning.
Microsoft Flight Simulator - Pre-Order Launch Trailer
-
I cannot wait for Flight Simulator 2020. :) It looks beautiful and they are finally including the Cessna in the case game. Word is it isn't going to be on Steam.
Article (https://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-2020-isnt-coming-steam).
Tons of info below.
Release date is scheduled for August 18th, 2020.

Surprise news today! Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 will have VR support and is actually coming to steam, same day! August 18, 2020!
Microsoft Flight Simulator will launch on Steam, after all
Microsoft Flight Simulator is coming to Steam on day one, Microsoft has confirmed, despite fears from some that the game would not be available on Valve’s platform.
The company had previously declined to commit to a Steam launch, but it now says the highly anticipated game will come to the platform on Microsoft Flight Simulator’s release date of August 18.
“In addition to availability on Windows 10 and Xbox Game Pass for PC (Xbox Game Pass for PC is currently in beta), Microsoft Flight Simulator will also be coming to Steam on August 18,” wrote the company’s head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, Jorg Neumann. “We are thrilled to announce that Steam pre-orders for the Standard, Deluxe, and Premium Deluxe editions of Microsoft Flight Simulator start today!”
In addition, Neumann confirmed that the game will support head tracking software at launch and that it will support VR headsets later in the year.
He said: “Listening to the community has been a priority for the development team since the announcement of Microsoft Flight Simulator in June 2019. Two of the most requested features we’ve been hearing about from the community are TrackIR and VR support. Today we are excited to announce that Microsoft Flight Simulator will have TrackIR support available on day one, and VR support will be available later this year in time for the launch of the HP Reverb G2!”
The confirmation of a Steam launch will come as welcome news to those loyal to Valve’s platform, particularly as Microsoft had previously said only that its “goal is to have Microsoft Flight Simulator available on as many platforms as possible”. It remains to be seen if it will come to other storefronts or consoles in the future.
In a separate interview with PCGamesN, meanwhile, Neumann has told us why now is the time for a Microsoft Flight Simulator reboot after so long out of the limelight. Alternatively, you might be interested in our in-depth preview, in which we explore the idea of Microsoft Flight Simulator as a simulation of Earth itself.

We're less then ten days out from MFS.
-
The game looks visually stunning. I wonder how it holds up on lesser computers?
-
Tuesday release day. :D
It definitely looked weaker on a lesser computer, but you can still get a thrilling ride. The game lowers the textures and draw distance.
-
The reviews embargo is lifted and reviews are rolling in. I would recommend listening to people who love this series. But in the meantime, this IGN reviewer did a good job since... well... he is was pilot. ;)
Microsoft Flight Simulator is getting much love.
-
Anyone buy it yet? I am waiting for all the download delays to be over since everyone is trying to download it at the same time.
-
There is another new games trying to go after the Sims. It appeared suddenly and not much is known about it. It is supposed to be released for Mac and Pc.
PEOPLE OF NEWBERY
Official Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyEcZSa35B8mObr0HQ1SR7Q)
It is a Russian developer, so really nothing is known. But a fellow Russian posted this on one of the Youtube pages.
"As a russian I looked into their page on VK and it looks like this "game" is made by one guy. The page has 24 subs that are probably his friends. Best case scenario - it's someone's passion project, not a real playable game. Worst case scenario - it's a scam. Sadly, all the thing promised to be in a game made by one guy suggest the latter."
Lets hope it is legit and not a scam or jank.
The developer plans to release it on Q3 2021 and will release it on the Epic Games store... which is a limiting choice.
-
^ Most of the people online are calling it a scam, which is unfortunate if that's true. The internet has never been right before though...
-
A neat new update for NewCity. :)
And developer blog.
-
^ Nice to see they are continuing to develop it.
-
Maybe not a true simulator, but it sure came out of left field. No one saw this coming. So if you play the NASCAR Heat series, you may have heard of driver Tony Stewart. He won championships and was quite the driver back in his day.
Well he teamed up with Monster Games (Remember them?) and released "Tony Stewart's All American Racing." Sure it doesn't have the biggest budget, but it's current the biggest surprise release getting really positive reviews for a back to basics racing game on a dirt race track in Anywhere, USA on a Saturday night.
Steam Page (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1367690/Tony_Stewarts_AllAmerican_Racing/)
The developers say they are working on more tracks and possibly more racing leagues to on top of the three they included. While not as polished as say Wreckfest maybe, it certainly seems to show promise with the early praise.
The game company, Monster Games used to make the original NASCAR Heart series that was known for it's realism in the early 2000s until they lost the rights to NASCAR games when EA took ownership and drug it through the mud. Now Monster Games (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monster_Games) is doing what they love and making another racing game in what can likely be seen as a successor to their Test Drive: Eve of Destruction (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Test_Drive:_Eve_of_Destruction) game that also took place in rural America on dirt tracks. It was a hidden gem of a game and a personal favorite growing up.

PROJECT CARS THREE HAS RELEASED.
Article (https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2020/09/11/project-cars-3-review-ps4/#/slide/1)
If you liked PC1 and PC2, don't get PC3. It's the biggest disappointment. They moved away from simulation and it's just arcade now. Graphics downgrade. It's a big F-YOU to the fans and supporters.
-
We also got Gran Turismo 7 announced.
Hopefully a GT with a thousand cars like old games and not just a few hundred.
-
Gran Turismo needs more cars too, and more modern cars. They've been stuck in their ways since the 90s it seems. We need more average everyday cars which is what made GT so popular. Not just super cars.
-
Not fully a simulator, but a racing game that is a bit different.
Art Of Rally.
Now available.
-
Some updates to NewCity.
-
^ I got NewCity when it was super cheap early on. I played it for a little bit, but not since the sandbox update. That's what I have always wanted. :D Can't wait to try it again. It had a ton of potential.
-
Is it like Sim City 3000 or something? I've been watching it's development but it's hard for me to tell.
-
Maxis has been hard at working doing massive free updates to Sims 4.

Probably one of the most realistic damage modeling games with a crazy realistic driving simulation has had an update. BEAMNG Drive. Crazy they still don't have a better name for this game yet.

Article: Playstation Lifestyle (https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2021/02/01/gran-turismo-7-esports/)
Gran Turismo 7 Will Be More Like Classic GT Titles Rather Than Taking After Gran Turismo Sport
Gran Turismo 7 will mark a return to the classic games in the series. In an interview with Octane, Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi stated that while e-sports will factor into the game, they won’t be as big a focus as they were in the last title, Gran Turismo Sport.
As Yamauchi explained, Gran Turismo Sport “took on the challenge of full-scale e-sports” in a move away from the traditional model of previous games. The problem is it didn’t sell as well. The game did manage to attract 9.5 million players in the end, but “it didn’t sell explosively from the beginning“. The reason for this was seemingly because it “may have seemed quite outlandish for some people”. As such, Gran Turismo 7 will keep some e-sports elements, like the FIA-certified Gran Turismo Championships, but the game will return to the classic and nostalgic feel of games like Gran Turismo 1-4. It will “provide the best Gran Turismo experience at present”.
The development of the game has been very drawn out. First teased for PlayStation 4 back in 2013, everything went quiet as GT Sport was released instead. The title was then leaked for a 2020 release before being officially unveiled for PS5 last year. Developing the title for the latest PlayStation console will mean it can make use of many of the console’s features, like fast loading, 3D audio, haptic feedback, Adaptive Triggers, 4K support, HDR, and a target frame rate of 60 frames-per-second. Ray tracing will especially make a large difference to the game’s visuals. Yamauchi failed to be drawn on the future of the franchise once Gran Turismo 7 has been released. However, he did imply the franchise wouldn’t be ending anytime soon.

Good. I wanna play some classic Gran Turismo, not this online crap.
-
I agree. GOOD. GT Sport didn't interest me in the slightest due to online focused play.
-
New updates to Paralives.
-
Almost should have a Sims topic maybe? I'm not sure if there is a big enough following here.
-
Has anyone ever played the Trainz simulator games? Just wondering because I recently discovered it and wondered it it was worth getting to build landscapes to ride a train through? I was wondering how in-depth the tools were.
-
I've heard of it. Never played it. Though it does sound cool if you can make your own tracks and scenes and drive them.

Gran Turismo will be featured as an Olympic competition this year
Article (https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/more-sports/gran-turismo-will-be-featured-in-an-olympic-competition-this-year/ar-BB1fVpNq?ocid=uxbndlbing)
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced a new series of virtual sporting events that will take place ahead of the Tokyo Olympics, called the Olympic Virtual Series. No, this doesn’t mean that League of Legends just became an Olympic sport — what’s happening is that the IOC is partnering with five international sports federations to host virtual competitions in games featuring their sports.
The Olympic Virtual Series will kick off on May 13th and will run through June 23rd. Here’s the lineup of federations and what games they’ll be hosting events for, as we know it so far:
Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile will host a Gran Turismo competition
Union Cycliste Internationale will host a competition for Zwift, which offers virtual cycling and running courses to use with indoor exercise
The World Baseball Softball Confederation will host a competition for Konami’s eBaseball Powerful Pro Baseball 2020
World Sailing will host a competition for Virtual Regatta, an online sailing and regatta sailing simulation game
World Rowing doesn’t officially have a game attached to it yet; a press release only said vaguely that there would be an “open format.” A PR spokesperson tells The Verge that details about the World Rowing competition are forthcoming
There are still many things we don’t know about the Olympic Virtual Series. It’s still unclear who will be competing, how you can try to sign up to compete, what prizes will be offered (will somebody become a Gran Turismo gold medalist?), and which events will happen when. The IOC promises that more details will be announced soon.
More sports could get involved in future virtual series. FIFA, the International Basketball Federation, the International Tennis Federation, and World Taekwondo have “confirmed their excitement and commitment to exploring inclusion in future editions of the OVS,” the IOC said.

A new mini DLC for Cities Skylines. A nice set of additions for the Train Stations and Piers update.
-
Cities Skylines team had an update today...
Hey there everyone! Let's let the Chirper out of the bag: we have a couple of announcements coming soon -- like REAL soon!!
Before this happens, we want to reassure this awesome community that we are still hard at work on the previously-mentioned project with Colossal Order, but we are not yet at a point where we are ready to share more information on it. Our upcoming news and announcements are not related to that project nor do they affect that project’s timeline.
We are really excited to share the upcoming Cities-related news with you soon, we look forward to continuing to play and share our creations together, and we are in awe of the inspiring directions you take the game into!
-- The Cities: Skylines team
They teased us of an announcement coming soon. Of course, everyone expects a Cities Skylines 2. But the real thing I noticed is they have changed their branding slightly. They referred to themselves as "Cities." and used "Cities" as a brand instead of what it used to be "Cities Skylines." They even put it as "Cities: Skylines" with a colon! So it might be possible the game will have a total different name not using the word "skylines." Cities:_______
Interesting.
-
Still no Cities Skylines 2....
-
Urbek City Builder Game Releases (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1411740/Urbek_City_Builder/) to Positive reviews.
-
Still no Cities Skylines 2....
Still waiting on that. They are releasing another DLC which.... just zero interest for. Even the trailer is boring. I like the idea, but not for a paid DLC.
-
New little gameplay for Paralives game, the Sims competitor. It looks like they are doing a good job.
-
Manor Lords getting impressive first impressions!
Old World City Builder/Simulator (https://www.pcgamer.com/one-of-steams-most-wishlisted-city-builders-has-a-pretty-spectacular-demo/)
-
The Manor Lords demo came and went and it provided some truly spectacular gameplay. Can't wait for the RTS aspects of this game as well. By far the best medieval city builder I've ever played, and it's still in it's early stages. So much depth but not overly complicated.
-
^ That looks pretty neat!
-
Thanks! It's very impressive for being such an early stage of development. Everything worked and it worked well.
-
I've had this on my wishlist for about a year. It looks incredible cool. The concept of a city-builder mixed with a nation builder, and military RTS grand strategy games sounds amazing. If they can somehow pull it off successfully, I will be thrilled. The settlement building part so far is a success.
-
Anyone ever play "World In Conflict?" It's an older game, but I keep hearing it's one of the best RTS's out there. If you've played it, is it worth buying and playing in 2023?
-
CITIES SKYLINES II.
It just got stylish and MASSIVE. Trailer revealed! Release date in 2023. It looks incredible.
-
^ If it looks half as good and has half the features we see here, I will be pleased! Lol! Right now, it looks stylistic how Sim City 4 used to be in their intro, because most of the stuff never actually was in the game. City games do that a lot in their art and trailers. Hopefully this one is somewhat accurate, even though it clearly says not gameplay. Thought it could be in-engine.
-

I hope it has a lot of the things it shows, including maybe modular and buildable seaports/airports. Seasons are all but confirmed at this point. We also saw a city with a rough neighborhood and a clean neighborhood. I really hope we get that, because in CSI all the cities seemed to clean and perfect.

I think it looks refreshing and exciting. I love their new logo and design and I hope it's more realistic as shown in this video as opposed to cartoony like the current game. I will be more impressed if gameplay looks similar.
-
It's very exciting! But don't get hyped TOO much until we see what it really looked like.
It does appear they will be using Unreal Engine 4 and Unreal Engine 5 compatible.
-
If it looked 75% that good, I would be shocked, lol! I am really just expecting a revamp of what we currently have in Cities Skylines. I don't have a lot of hope for them to make it look realistic. I really don't. I hate being a negative Nelly here.
-
Well, well, aren't you Mister Positivity? Even I am being positive about this trailer despite it having no gameplay. It's just a teaser of what they want to achieve man. Don't fill your pants up with poo and spread your smell around. Geez.
-
Whine, whine, whine! That's all I am going to do until I see gameplay! I also hope I can run it on my computer! Whine, whine, whine!!!!
[tappity]
-
I am real pumped for Cities Skylines II. Also some good content coming for Cities Skylines the next two months as well.
-
I might need a new computer to run Cities Skylines II if it looks that nice. :')
-
Substantial Cities Skylines update coming MAY 23RD with a lot of three content.
-
I have all the DLCs except Airports and Plaza and Promenades. Waiting for the price drop. This looks pretty good!
-
Sale is coming soon, the Spring Sale. Check then.
-
Today is the big Cities:Skylines update. Supposedly the last DLC for the game before Cities Skylines II?
-
After all these years, I'd say overall it's been a good game. Some of the DLC's seem aimless in a genre where you could do SO much. But as I said, overall it's a good game. I'd say a great game. A nice way they sent it off into the sunset on a high note.
-
I've played it on and off over the years. I should see how much has changed. The location of things got real confusing with all the additions. It got muddled up.
-
There have been some supposed leaks of the game. Four screenshots from the Xbox Store. Oops. They were quickly removed.
-
Interesting. Thanks.

CITIES SKYLINES II RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED.
It is going to be a busy October. Seasons, new road systems, new mixed zoning, upgradable buildings, and so much more! This is looking promising. Coming October 24th, 2023 to Steam, Playstation, and Xbox consoles.
-
OH MY GOSH, YES. I have watched this about a dozen times trying to break down things. I'm thrilled by the modular upgrades to buildings.
-
Creating a new topic for city simulation games. The further splitting of this topic continues. [excited]
-
Paralives Gameplay Overview video. Looks promising.
-
YESSSS!!!! This looks so good!!! Cozy!
-
Ooh I would certainly love to give this a try looks pretty neat and be something new to try out.
-
Cute sneezes in the video too. :D
-
I'm still devastated by how Cities Skylines II has imploded on itself. :( The old game now has more players than the new one.
-
Paralives Gameplay Overview video. Looks promising.
Looks like a Sims game. But what are they bringing to the table to be different? It can be good, but if they do nothing new, what's the point?
-
They have some unique dialogue options and how 'build mode' is done. It seems far more customizable.
-
Starship Simulator actually looks pretty fun from what the developers show off here. Also looks relaxing if you want it to be. No release date yet.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1332100/Starship_Simulator/

Space doesn't interest me much, but for some reason this looks like a chill experience and I am slightly interested.
