Title: E3 2019
Post by: Depressed edge lord on 2019-06-07 12:59:04
So many leaks and announcements and rumours have already begun. Sony and Activision are not attending this year, so it's not going to be as good as last year. But 3rd party games might be better than ever.

I would seriously consider using some punctuation and grammar.

E3 lost a lot of it's excitement this year with Sony not going to be there.  So for the most part, I don't really care what happens.  I'll catch the headlines the week of.

Google is going to reveal more on this thing called Google Stadia.  But I am not going to touch anything Google does in the gaming world.  They already have too much of our personal info, lol!

I'm looking forward for MonHun World: Iceborne and Persona 5: The Royale.

I'm also curious to see new stuff from The Outer Worlds and the FFVII Remake.
I tried to play the original FFVII, but it really aged poorly... At least for me. It's weird because I recently played Chrono Trigger and, despite being an older game, it was really enjoyable for me.
Also, in FFXV the party characters all have... a certain "special" idle animation(If you know what I mean ;] ) and I'm hoping for that "special" idle animation to still be there for Tifa and Aerith.

Just a couple of days ago I was thinking about "Destroy All Humans!", it was such a fun little game but after Pandemic's and THQ's closure I thought the series was doomed. I'm glad to see that I was wrong!

Aaand the next Smash DLC rumor. It's already been "leaked", apparently.

I would hope Bethesda will have some info on THE ELDER SCROLLS VI.  Otherwise I don't really think there is anything else of interest that is planned to be shown.

Without Sony there or Rockstar, I'm not that excited.  Really want to know about GTA VI or some PS5 info.

Curious as to what Ubisoft will show of Skull and Bones (the pirate game).

Some E3 updates.

President and CEO of Sony’s PlayStation division Jim Ryan was asked if the PlayStation 5 will be Sony's “last console."

To this, Ryan responded "Who knows how it might evolve? Hybrid models between console and some sort of cloud model? Possibly that. I just don't know. And if I did know, I wouldn't tell you."

GTA V Online is going to get a major new update rumored to be called the "Casino Update."  Not much is known, but Rockstar will reveal more in the coming weeks.

Ninja Theory: Bleeding Edge leak.  It didn't look too promising, even though it's supposed too.

Watch Dogs 3 has been revealed.  Will take place in London with the gameplay allowing the player to take control of any pedestrian and the game will make up a unique story for each ped that the player can then play.  It is called "Watch Dogs: Legion."

Sims 4 reveals a new expansion called "Island Living."

Madden 20 and FIFA 20 revealed.  Madden 20 introduces a new-ish player rankings system.

"Star Wars Jedi:Fallen Order"  gameplay revealed.  Seems typical.

Apex Legends gets a second season of gameplay and a new player.

New game called, "Control" teased in trailer.

"Yooka-Laylee: Impossible Lair" announced.

Destroy All Humans remake in the process of being made!

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled trailer revealed.

MotoGP revealed a launch trailer.

Destiny 2 getting an expansion.

Overall nothing is sounding that exciting to me.  Pretty boring without some big league players there.  No Rockstar, no Sony, they are off doing their own thing.  Really brings down the hype of E3. :-\

Nothing revealed and no info on that.  A lot of what you posted hasn't been mentioned at E3 yet.  So be careful, a lot of what you are sharing seems to be false reporting from wherever it's coming from.

I'm with you.  I am curious about S&B too.  It seems to have promise if it can be done right.  But as we've seen with another pirate game that came out last year, it wasn't that great.

Well at least there is some good news coming out of E3 so far.  Hopefully Sunday has some more good stuff.

The Watch Dogs ones interests me.  I feel bad, because this game series is pretty good, but it has never gained traction.  The first game was a let down mainly because of graphics (but I thought they were good) and the game itself was good.  Then WD2 came out with cringe worthy characters but a great world but sales fell flat.  I'm surprised they are still trusting in this series and moving forward with another game, but good for them!  Thats how you make a good IP, you keep working on it.  You don't give up on it.

No worries.  We know a new God of War will come, but there has been nothing announced by Sony or the studio officially.  They aren't even at E3 this year.  All I'm saying it for everyone to be careful what they post.  The web is fully of false info.

Big news from today at E3 in Los Angeles.

Microsoft Reveals Project Scarlett, It's Next Console With Cloud Gaming Capabilities (http://fortune.com/2019/06/09/e3-news-microsoft-xbox-project-scarlett-annoucement/).

The next console war has officially kicked off. Microsoft announced its new Xbox console at its E3 briefing in Los Angeles Sunday. The new console, named Project Scarlett, will launch for the holiday season of 2020.

While many expected Microsoft would provide a great deal of information on its cloud gaming efforts, it did emphasize that Project Scarlett would be streaming-capable. No information on a launch date or pricing was made, however.

So far, it’s the only console maker with concrete plans to bring cloud gaming to the public.

However, it still has Google to contend with. On Thursday, the tech giant provided additional details on Stadia, its upcoming cloud gaming venture. Stadia is set to launch in November.

In terms of console competition, the field remains quiet. Nintendo previously said it did not plan to announce any updates to its Switch. PlayStation-maker Sony opted to skip E3 entirely. Though it announced some pieces of information and talked up the increased performance of its planned successor the PlayStation 4 just last week, Sony still hasn’t set a launch date.

Microsoft developers touted the new device’s capabilities including playback at 120 frames per second, and a processor that runs four times more powerful than the Xbox One X.

For those less interested in tech specs and more concerned with what exactly you can play with it, Spencer made another announcement that takes the console-maker back to its roots.

Halo Infinite will be released along with the new Xbox for the holiday season, much like when the first Xbox console first came out.

Microsoft also updated fans on its Game Pass feature. The program works similarly to PlayStation’s PlayStation Now service, as they both allow users to play from a library of games without having to buy each title individually.

Xbox’s previously announced the expansion of Game Pass to PCs, but told the L.A. crowd the service would launch in beta today. Game Pass for PC costs $9.99 a month, the same as the console version, but it’s available at a $4.99 beta price currently.

But that wasn’t the only Game Pass news Microsoft had. The company announced details on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The Ultimate pack comes with access for Xbox Game Pass on consoles and PC along with Xbox Live Gold, which is needed to play online with others. The upgraded package costs $14.99 a month.

Bethesda's Press Conference Today (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/bethesda-e3-2019-when-is-bethesdas-press-conferenc/1100-6467256/). - Bethesda has made it clear Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield will not be here, but the publisher--Bethesda Softworks--is also behind studios like id Software and Arkane. That means the press conference could be home to Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, and a variety of other games. During a YouTube Live stream earlier today, Bethesda marketing boss Pete Hines promised there would be some surprise announcements, however, so you'll want to be sure to tune in to see new games or other news it has to share.  The live stream begins at 5:30pm Pacific Time.  It can be watched here. Did not expect Microsoft to reveal a whole new console.  WOW.  Uhmmmm... okay.  So I guess we can start discussing the next generation of consoles.  I doubt Sony will have anything this year, but maybe in two years.  We know nothing of the new consoles specs or pricing but we have a general release date.  Seems Microsoft is really going to be pushing "Game Pass" and streaming instead of physical copies.  Still it's just too early to know about everything.

Microsoft has unveiled, MINECRAFT DUNGEONS.  And I gotta say... it looks promising!

The trailer showed a lengthy look at gameplay from an overhead perspective, along with very Minecraft styled menu screens to equip items and chow down on a turkey leg. The trailer concluded with the announcement of a Spring 2020 release window. It will feature 4-player local and online co-op.

MICROSOFT E3 CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

Microsoft had an excellent E3 conference, which isn't hard to do when there is no one else around to have a conference.  Nonetheless, Microsoft did a great job and catered to gaming fans with the reveal of a new console  as well as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Project Scarlet (The new console): Still no commercial name, but a more extensive look than what we've seen so far. It's coming in Holiday 2020, and it's meant to be Xbox's new flagship console. This isn't quite a full reveal, more like the next stage after last year's confirmation that these things were in fact coming. Like Sony, Microsoft is pursuing a slow-ramp up to the actual launch in 2020.
We heard times like 120 FPS, 8K and all those big numbers. Like Sony's new console, one of the major selling points will be an SSD meant to minimize or completely eliminate load times, and anyone that's installed an SSD on a current-generation console can attest to what a major improvement these things can make. The new console will come with full backwards compatibility, all the way back to the original Xbox.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate combines the Xbox Game Pass for console and PC as well as Xbox Live Gold for only $14.99 a month, which is far cheaper than buying then all separately.  Unlimited online gaming for relatively cheap.

Project xCloud is arguably the biggest project in the entire press conference, though we didn't hear too much about it. xCloud is Microsoft's game streaming platform, and it's going into beta now for the people at E3. This still seems like something they're setting the stage for and not being all that explicit about it, but it seems like this fall is when these platforms are going to rumble to life.

As well, a major staple in Microsoft's portfolio was also revealed, Microsoft Flight Simulator is coming back in 2020 allows pilots and players to fly the world in their most detailed landscapes and planes ever.  This is a huge hit with the simulation community.  Since the release of the original MFS, it has been one of the best selling franchises for the Redmond based company.

Microsoft shared more about Halo Infinite.  It will be the next big game in the Halo franchise.

Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition was unveiled and will be rendered in full 4K with modern updates and a new campaign.

Minecraft Dungeons has been revealed and appears to be a Minecraft based RPG or MMORPG with up to 4 player local players or online co-op.  Looks promising.

Wasteland 3: Another entry into the resurrected Wasteland franchise, this is a post-apocalyptic isometric turn-based squad game with a sense of humor that's just one wacky notch about Fallout.

Microsoft Buys the Doublefine studio: This is a big get for Microsoft: Tim Schafer's Doublefine is a long-standing gaming standby with a long list of games both huge and weird. These days they're probably still best known for Psychonauts, and guess what? That means Psychonauts 2 is on its way as a Microsoft exclusive.

Xbox Elite Controller Series 2: The Xbox Elite Controller is the best in the business, and it's getting a redesign. The company advertizes increased customization, the ability to save three distinct profiles, bluetooth connectivity, adjustable thumbstick tension and more.

If might be because there is no competition this year, but Microsoft blew it out of the ballpark this year.  They seemed really focused on fixing the many mistakes they have made and have directly one-upped and taken aim at Sony with all their announcements.  They revealed tons of great things, lower prices, good services, and many classic games coming back!  I must say I am excited with what Microsoft has announced.  They did superb.

So here is a recap of the Electronics Entertainment Expo, or E3 for short.  2019.

Project Scarlett

This isn’t a game, but it’s still huge news. Microsoft’s next Xbox console — which it’s calling “Project Scarlett” for now — is coming in the holiday season of 2020. The graphics look nice, but the team at Microsoft said it’s focusing more on performance for the next generation of consoles. Microsoft claims that means almost no loading times and high frame rates that’ll make games feel as good as they look.

Google Stadia

Google is diving into the video game business with Stadia, an online platform it claims will let gamers stream the newest titles in 4K using their home internet connection. The basic package costs $129 and comes with a Chromecast-style receiver and a Stadia controller. The catch is players have to pay a monthly $9.99 for 4K and surround sound. Meanwhile, some games come with the subscription, while others have to be purchased individually.

Cyberpunk 2077

The biggest moment and the coolest game of E3 came courtesy of Polish developer CD Projekt Red’s first-person shooter RPG, Cyberpunk 2077. Set in Night City, California, Cyberpunk 2077 is an open world sandbox where players fight against evil mega-corporations using body augmentation. That’s cool, but CD Projekt Red delivered the best moment of E3 when it revealed Keanu Reeves is in the game.

“You’re breathtaking,” Reeves said, after taking the stage to reveal Cyberpunk 2077’s release date. “You’re all breathtaking.”

You can hang out in the dystopian future with Reeves starting April 16, 2020 on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.

Death Stranding

Death Stranding is the first new IP in more than a decade from Hideo Kojima, the auteur video game developer behind the Metal Gear Solid franchise. It looks to have everything Kojima is known for — a nonsensical yet hypnotic story, breathtaking cinematics, and great game design. This time, however, a roster of incredible actors is delivering his dialogue. Death Stranding stars Norma Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, and Guillermo Del Toro in a third-person action game whose trailer begs more questions than it answers.

Find out what Death Stranding is all about on November 8, 2019.

Halo Infinite

A new console is pointless if there aren’t new games to play on it. Project Scarlett is launching with Halo Infinite, the latest installment in the ongoing adventures of Master Chief. The trailer is cut from in-game footage running on Project Scarlett. It didn’t show gameplay, but it’s safe to assume Infinite will feature Master Chief gunning down aliens from a first-person perspective.

Doom Eternal

Rip and tear through heaven and hell in Doom Eternal. The follow up to 2016’s reboot of the classic 90s first-person shooter, Doom Eternal lets players kill demons in extreme and entertaining ways. What more do you need to know?

Players can get their hands dirty with demon entrails on November 22, 2019 on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Fans of Star Wars video games have had a bad run since publisher Electronic Arts took over the license a few years ago. Star Wars: Battlefront II was an alright shooter, but is mostly remembered as the game that introduced lawmakers and worried parents to lootboxes. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order looks like an attempt to win back the audience. Set after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, players take control of Cal Kestis—played by Gotham’s Cameron Moaghan—as he learns the ways of the force and attempts to rebuild the Jedi Order. There are lightsaber battles, force powers, Stormtroopers, and the morally dubious resistance leader Saw Gerrera.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order comes to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 15, 2019.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood

The Wolfenstein franchise proved that taking down Nazis can feel really good. Wolfenstein: Youngblood, the third installment in the modern incarnation of the first-person shooter series, is all about killing Nazis with a friend. Series hero BJ Blazkowicz is lost in Nazi-occupied Paris, and it’s up to his daughters to track down their dad, even if they have to shoot through the entire Third Reich to do it.

Players can team up with a friend to rid France of Nazis on July 26, 2019 on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

The Outer Worlds

The Outer Worlds is basically Fallout in space. Obsidian, the developers behind Fallout: New Vegas, are experts at creating bizarre science fiction worlds. The Outer Worlds trades the post-apocalypse for a brighter future where humans have colonized the stars. The only problem is that huge corporations run those colonies. Enter the player, who — in classic RPG style — can become a hero, villain, or sociopath. Like Fallout, The Outer Worlds is a first-person RPG.

The Outer Worlds comes to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 25, 2019.

Watch Dogs: Legion

Watch Dogs: Legion is a third-person action game set in a post-Brexit London. According to the trailer, extremism is on the rise, the government’s abandoned all hope, and cops are brutalizing citizens. The player works with DedSec, a hacker collective recruiting people to fight the powers that be. In previous Watch Dogs games, players could hack anything and snoop through people’s phones for private information. Legion continues the trend, but allows players to recruit anyone from young punks to retired grandmothers to the cause. Go anywhere, hack anything, and recruit anyone.

Players can build the resistance on March 6, 2020 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day

The Marvel Cinematic Universe dominates the box office, but has been largely absent from video games. Publisher Square Enix is changing all that with Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day, a third-person action game where players take control of Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, Iron Man, and Captain America. Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day promises an original story and an online mode that lets players team up with friends and fight through comic book scenarios together.

The Avengers assemble on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 15, 2020.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Released in 1997, Final Fantasy VII is a beloved game that introduced millions of fans to RPGs. It had it all: incredible music, compelling characters, and a fully realized 3D world. More than 20 years later, publisher Square Enix is giving Cloud, Sephiroth, and Aerith a complete makeover it hopes will appeal to nostalgic fans and curious newcomers alike. More than just a remaster, Final Fantasy VII Remake includes entirely new graphics, voice acting, and a completely reworked combat system.

Fans cam jump back into Midgar on the Playstation 4 on March 3, 2020.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the best-selling Zelda game of all time. It makes sense then that Nintendo is working on a direct sequel, something it doesn’t often do for Zelda games. The trailer isn’t long and features Zelda and Link exploring a crypt and encountering the desiccated corpse of a princess who comes alive. Very creepy and very cool. Also clearly very early in development with very lackluster visuals.

And that roughly sums up E3 2019.

So here's the thing, it was a pretty lackluster E3.  Sure there were some big announcements, but without all the big players there it just wasn't the same.  I guess from what I saw, what piques my interest is Minecraft: Dungeons and maybe Watch Dogs Legion.  Really, there was much there to get me excited.  Microsoft won this year, but it's because no one else showed up.

The Outer Worlds looks interesting.  It has humor and charm.  It isn't as devoid of all life as Fallout games which have zero character now days.  All the NPC's are boringly basic.  Hopefully Outer Worlds remedies this.

Watch Dogs : Legion already makes me upset how they are trying to make it political.  They are saying that because of Brexit and right-wing populism everything is collapsing... WHY?  There is no evidence Brexit will cause a collapse and there is no evidence right-wing politics causes anymore problems than left-wing politics.  So... yeah... Watch Dogs is on thin ice with me.

Minecraft: Dungeons looks like it could be entertaining with friends. :3

That's true.  It bugged me on that issue too.

Truly... this E3 was pretty lame.  Actually... it was really lame.  Some good things were mentioned, but when you compare it even to last year, it was just a weak E3.

Is it the Grinch?:3

I smiled while I read your comment. The Grinch XD Honestly I think it would be insane if Nintendo listened to memes and put him or Shrek in...or Bowsette. I would not mind if she somehow got in Smash somehow.

I was surprised how improved the FF looks. The original had a style that I did not like very much.

I never saw the 3rd Mana game because it only was in Japan, but the remake for that game has a great art style!

Overall with your sentiment, I don't disagree.  It was a pretty tame E3 and didn't have a whole lot.
