"Dungeons & Discords" will be the 17th episode of of season 6, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It will premier on August 27, 2016.
SYNOPSIS: "Discord unexpectedly joins Big McIntosh and Spike's "top secret" guys' night of fantasy role-playing."
-
This sounds amazing. If only Shining Armor was there too.
-
I think I might enjoy this.
I am going to predict what they do in the game... Discord will make it REAL. Like they will live what they are doing. ;)
-
Huh like that idea hasn't been done to death lol.
Hopefully it'll be enjoyable like that one Gravity Falls episode where it becoming real happens.
However, I find it really weird that Big Mac likes D&D. Just.... Doesn't seem within his character. He doesn't seem like the type who'd even have enough time to make that a hobby. But whatever. Plot.
-
Maybe Spike is dragging him into it.
-
Hm, even still, from my experience with D&D it's hard as shit to get it. Maybe I just suck, but everything is so freaking complicated. I feel like Big Mac has better things to do than play an extremely complicated game for nerds. Not saying Spike can't drag him into it but... They really haven't been established as friends. I mean, there was that one joke where they watch football apparently. I feel this is just a bit of a fan pandering episode to the nerds who watch the show. I felt it worked in GF because the character is an established nerd who would believably be into that sort of thing.
-
I've never been a fan of episodes like this. I swear that the same writers who do these on every show, go to another show and write another. I really hope they do something special and drag me into this one.
-
The thing is they have to utilize the characters for this type of episode. Not milk the frick out of "OH MY GOSH LOOK IT'S D&D COMING TO LIFE!!" Sure that's an important part, but the fun doesn't come from throwing that at our face. The fun is supposed to come from watching the characters react and stuff. But I fear with the way the show is going it's just going to be fan pandering and "hey look guys! It's D&D! Nerds like this stuff, right!?"
-
Yea guess you guys might be right. Oh well, fingers still crossed it's better than we think.
-
I do like how Spike and Big Mac will be hanging out. Something they should have done a long time ago.
-
Today's the day. New episode.
-
I am more drawn to this episode then the Buckyball one. So I hope it is good.
-
It can either be really good, or just meh. I have high hopes though, so I am pulling for a good, solid episode.
-
Me too. I hope it is good. :)
-

Have not read a synopsis, but this seems very probable.
-
I like that idea, but hope it was so predictable that MasterX predicted it so far in advance. ;)
-
So what, it may still be a great episode. :)
-
True. *Nods*
-
Lemme know lol. Just a few more hours.
-
Getting the episode now.
-
Opposite Fluttershy already made the episode worth it.
-
Quote of the entire episode.
"Did you see the size of Big Mac's sword? I totally want in." -Rainbow Dash
The episode had odd pacing, it just lacked in certain spaces. But there were good references and it was nice seeing Spike and Big Mac's dynamic. I've never been a Discord fan, still am not. But this episode revealed a lot about him. I will give this episode a fair 6 out of 10.
-
I liked this episode fem the perspective of the guys. Though some things made me wonder. Spike still has a crush on Rarity it seems. Nice Spike and Big Mac hang out. Discord is a bother to me.
MasterX called it though with him planting them in the world, though a rather lame rendition of it. Discord was just being lazy. ;) I like the first world Discord took the boys with the pretty girls (totally look at Big Mac's eyes, he liked looking at the girls), and the "drinks," big band music. I know Discord was dressed up to be a reference of of something. Sort of like the old cartoons that had the wolf in them dressed all dapper.
It was funny with Discord, Spike, BM all trying to meet for the first time, to talk to each other. Though that scene felt oddly long.
We got to see many new backgrounds and rooms of the castle. That was cool.
7/10 score.
-
OK, all done. Filler episode to the max but it was funny.
I think Discord was going for The Mask but orange colored. They seem to like dressing him up in Jim Carrey outfits. In the Smooze ep he and Smooze were in the Dumb and Dumber suits.

That is probably it. Thank you.
It was a filler episode, but it wasn't as lame as others. I enjoyed many aspects of this episode.
-
I know Discord's pain. When you wanna go out and do something and everyone else is like "no lets not do anything and stay inside" and you have that 'Bitch, I could have stayed home and done that' look all night.
-
That feel when.
-
I will probably watch this Sunday. :)
-
Just watched it. I thought it was funny. Good episode. :)
"Don't worry, your romantic delusions are safe with me." XDDD
-
It was a decent episode. Better then meh. I would say 6 stars out of ten.
-
In summary, the pacing was pretty poor at times, the conflict took way too long to set up. Discord acted predictably and the moral was grossly mishandled despite being difficult to relate to because the conflict was so obvious.
4/10.
-
It was a pretty mediocre episode. So here is my mediocre score for it. 5.
The pacing was lousy, and it was extremely predictable. Though I was surprised at how little time was spent in Discord's world of the game. I was disappointed at how lame that world was. It would have been cool to be "Realistic" or maybe even change the art style for fun, just to make it different. I feel this episode could have been good, but it didn't try to do anything different. It was just....... there.
-
It would be interesting to see what our average scores combined for each episode would be if we all did that...
-
I think the world was lame on purpose. Discord halfassed the cliche everyone called happening because even he didn't want to do it.

I think that would have been really cool too. Other shows have done similar things, but that would have earned it more points then it did in my book. I will just give it a 6.
-
I actually enjoyed the episode. I will agree, the pacing was off, but I enjoyed the subject matter and liked seeing more of the guys in this. I think they should develop this.
7/10.
-
This episode had the third highest ratings of the season, after a several week increase in viewership. Back at near 300k.
-
Playing "Dungeons and Dragons"... with a real dragon. Wouldn't they consider that game a bit speciesist?
I'm just saying, who needs to play a game where you fight epic battles against trolls, demons and monsters, when, for you, that's like, Tuesday?
-
Of course it had the highest viewership >_> the show got exactly what it wanted.
GUYS LOOK DnD with ponies! Nerds look at us!
-
Equestria must have a lot of weird creatures that are legit in that game they have.

Surprisingly relevant:

Looks promising. From the thread, regarding the author:
"You must be unfamiliar with Alessio Cavatore's work. Allow me to fill you in.
This guy cut his teeth writing rules for the most renown fantasy and scifi miniatures wargames on the planet. It was the editions he helped write that helped these two games in during the peak of their popularity. It can be argued that those editions are better than most of the others. In case you are not familiar with what games I am referring to, they are Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Fantasy Battles. Moving on, he left Games Worshop to form his own company and doing game design freelance. He then wrote the rules system for Kings of War, which is looking to dethrone Warhammer Fantasy Battles as the biggest fantasy battles game, giving Age of Sigmar and 9th Age runs for their money.
He is a very solid and accomplished games designer.
What is interesting about this case, is Hasbro owns Wizards of the Coast, the company that handles Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons.
So why aren't they taking care of the MLP:RPG? Well Alessio, being a fan of the show, actually approached Hasbro and pitched the idea and got the go-ahead. Which is big because Hasbro could have likely just done it cheaper by keeping it in-house with WotC. Obviously someone at Hasbro recognized who he was and lobbied for it to happen.
Am I saying this game will be groundbreaking and change the face of roleplaying forever? Absolutely not. What I am saying is the man is a man of quality, and I expect no less from the book."
-
How legit is this? Do we have a actual news source link? Because if this is so, that is awesome. I might actually try one of these types of games someday.
-
Welp, if it sucks it'll be a huge disappointment. But I'm positive he'll produce quality!
-
It's legit.

-
That is pretty exciting. :) Thanks for the link. I don't know anything about these kind of games or even who that guy is, but he sounds well respected.
-
This episode might not have dug too deeply into the game's mythos because it might risk alienating those who have never played the game, or angering a parental watchdog group who deem it Satanic.
That said, this script would have felt right at home in the Beetlejuice cartoon twenty years ago. I've compared Discord to B.J. many times-- a reformed prankster seen as weird and disgusting to his peers and terrifying to humans. Which, I guess, would make Spike Lydia. Eee hee hee hee hee hee.
The nod to The Mask movie/series was my favorite bit of the whole show.
-
One of the weaker episodes but average overall. I just couldn't get into it. Very cliche and done a million times. 4/10.
-
Such a filler episode but I found myself really enjoying it overall. Pretty fun and above average for sure. :D 7.
