My Little Pony: Pony Life will be airing in 2020 on Discovery Family.  Pony Life looks to be centered around Sugarcube Corner this time, with "Slice of Life" style episodes that kids can relate to being the focus.

MY LITTLE PONY: PONY LIFE, is an all-new animated series produced by Hasbro’s Allspark Animation, launching in 2020, with a robust product line inspired by the series and available from select retailers this winter.

At least, the main characters we grew to love are all coming back. But aside from that, I dunno. I'm not sold yet. The designs and overall atmosphere are kinda putting me off... but we'll see.

I'm not sure what to say yet until we see how it's animated and written.  It seems like it is aimed for more children viewers than even the current MLP:fiM.  I do hope it's good.  The style seems a tad too wild at the moment but I am hopeful.  I hope it isn't just a bunch of screaming, yellowing, and constant jokes,

I'm just going to wait and find out.  I'm not too fond of the new character designs and I hold the same reservations as mentioned above by both Numbers and Smiles... but I will wait.  Another big thing will be the voices.  I am sure they will be different voice actors.... but I kinda hope not. I am cautiously optimistic.

One positive.... more ponies. :)  Hopefully good ponies.  Keep this fandom going!

I'm really worried about this guys.  I don't think it will bring back any fandom remotely close to what MLP:FiM has.  It will split the community further to people who like it and carry over and those who will stay back and eventually be forgotten.   :nervoussmile:

I'm real nervous about this show.  I am thinking it will be nothing more than bright colors, screaming, action, yelling, and just purely comedy.  It won't have depth.  It seems like it will fit the mold of so many forgettable shows now days.

Teaser video and my fears are accelerated.  Just looking at how different the characters are and are nothing like their previous characters personalities.... Oh gosh. :(



And doom and gloom has already taken hold. This show would probably do better on a real network, not Discovery Family.

This is weird....

Hasbro has removed all reference to the MLP:FiM: PONY LIFE trailer from their Youtube, Facebook, and all other forms of media.  Is this..... a bad sign? Thoughts.

More like I had a target gift card and there were Celestia and Luna with their EQG figures with them. So technically they were free.

I am sure Hasbro is finding a way to make the most money on this new product and if it means tweaking things, they might very well be.  Bronies had to have been a somewhat significant source of sales, and maybe they want to appease them more?  Maybe?

The stop motion videos are nice.

I am curious as to what they will do with Pony Life.  I really wish they would just keep going with the current style FiM has.  But maybe improve and tweak the style a bit. Don't change the characters but add some new characters to follow.  Starlight and Sunset would be a nice start.

I hope this new series will be great and not 'just sort of there' or a complete failure.  I truly hope it's a huge success and I hope they are retooling the series to appease their dedicated fanbase. They don't want to lose all that.

Based off the new toys Ive seen, they already have a Trixie, Vinyl, and Starlight toy in the new Pony Life style.  I am hoping that means these character return with bigger roles and that we get a more in depth world.  I am hoping for the best here.

If they keep the character's character traits the same and develop them that would be good.  But they can't JUST be characters checking off certain traits and only being that.  They need to be developed.

As for the CGI, it's alright. :)  Better than the Pony Life cartoon style.

It honestly sounds like the voices are done by foreigners (not American) from wherever these animations are being made.  They are clearly not English first speakers. It is very similar to how those children's Youtube channels that became popular are.  Most are made in parts of Asia, done of the cheap, and they just makes grunting noises so they don't have to speak.

Ugh, I really hope that actual G4.5 show will be much better than this.
After Rarity with Trixie's voice, we have Pinkie with EQG-Trixie's performing.
The lack of actual speech is more apparent than in previous shorts.

UPD: And another one, for some reason also named as 10th episode:

I think that is 100% right.  Bronies had their show.  This is for a new era and isn't catered to them.  You have to come in KNOWING this will be something different entirely.

We have to realize this is a NEW show and won't be the same characters and world we expect.  IT'S DIFFERENT. 

Just like how Teen Titans GO! was different then Teen Titans.  It's the same named characters, but totally reimagined.

Well I made topics for them and did my usually "live watch" commentary.  I guess they can be discussed there. 

I'm kind of... meh... about the series so far.  But it wasn't as bad as I thought it could have been.  There were positives like returning voice actors. :) Some funny jokes and expressions.

I agree.  I don't like the new simplistic backgrounds that are pretty one color or two.  I did like the harbor though.  That can allow for many sea worthy adventures!

I also noticed they added in a lot of modern technology like television, cameras, earbuds, etc.

It was certainly different.  From what I've seen in these two episodes, it's not quite my cup of tea.  But I will keep giving it a chance.  Can't base an entire show off two episodes.  They are still trying to find their footing after all and develop things.

Yes, they took a new design approach.  I don't care for it as much.

I also don't think the animation was all that great or smooth.  It looked like a flash style animation as opposed to MLP which got so good, it was creamy and velvety smooth. ;D

Even while first two G4 episodes were not so good as the rest of first season, the picture bought me with smooth lines and not eye-burning colors. And characters were the ultimate eye candies — unlike a lot of child cartoons (and Hey, Arnold! wasn’t the worst ;D). G4.5 definitely don’t look so good.
And there is another bummer — no new main characters.
The thing what I really like is the title cards — finally they started to use them for main series, not just for specials.
The shape of potion bottles in the first episode’s ending makes me think about Bioshock Infinite for some reason ;D. Creators, please, don’t screw up with this part of the show. The unicorn's magic was the really cool thing in G4, please, make the using of potions equally cool and interesting to watch.

I gave money a few times early on (I don't play enough anymore) but I thankfully realized that I was just throwing my money away for a character that literally did.... NOTHING.  If the characters actually added some gameplay or your could interact with them, it would be another story.  But they literally walk around and do nothing.  There is nothing interactive or new with these re-skinned characters.

Apparently the flatter, dog like butts are actually a known aspect of the design. She couldn't confirm if this was planned all along to possibly quell the tsunami of explicit imagery that Generation 4 received, but it's definitely something to note! G5 ponies have smaller butts!

Of course, fan art will completely negate this in every way, so for those of you that prefer more horse-like proportions back there, fear not. It's already everywhere.

We have seen this on EqG example ;D. More shapely legs were among the most popular improvements in fanart compared to original models.
(but some artists tended to exaggerate another parts, and sometimes they have gone too far :nervoussmile:)

I hope so, but I also don't know.  I gave up on the show pretty quickly.  I think most of the brony community did.

I've watched some episodes of the show, but honestly i dont really like the "hyper" feel of it. I liked the friendship is magic much better since it was more toned down so pinkie would stand out with her hyper personality. In the pony life it just feels that they all are kinda hyper and somehow out of character compared to the fim. Just feels like all the other cartoon shows like unikitty and the uhh teen titans:go? i think it was? I'm not sure, but those shows also are kinda over energized.
Dont know if it's just me, but i do like cartoons to be a little bit more slow paced. :nervoussmile:  ^b-

I couldn't agree with you more.  They are too hyper and they seem to scream and be obnoxious just for the sake of it.  Everything has to be rushed, fast, and "exciting."  I like the slower pace of other shows.

Well the next series is gonna be here before we know it. And with its not so stellar reception and very minimal MLP toys in stores right now, it might be a good time for a change.

For the most part, yes.  There isn't even much fan art for it.  People still draw the old series.
