1.38 ETS2 Update Info

Some new info for ETS2'S 1.38 update.  We get a new French city!  Very nice.

Not to sound ungrateful, but I don't think any of those revamp photos of Lille look all that impressive.  It looks dated and old.  But that aside, I am excited anytime new areas can be fixed.  Overall though, I think France is pretty good.  I am assuming we may see some more cities added to France's south also in the 1.38 update that we haven't been told about, because we need some to enter Spain!  Will Andorra even be in the game?  I kinda hope so. ;)  In a weird way though, ETS2 shows it's age at random times.  Sometimes it can look great, other times I just kind of grimace.

But thanks to SCS for trucking forward and making all this for us supporters.  I want this game to continue to succeed.

Just unbelieveable.
So many news for a short time, and its not even an end of the year. I hope that Spain will have dense and balanced road map — like France or Germany (but not like Romania ).

Anyway, the percentage of «old» parts is constantly declining.

P.S. Judging from this couple of screenshots, we have some loss — tree is a good thing, but arrows around it have disappeared :(.

I do hope the road lines are put back in because they exist in real life (at many locations).  I am also sad to see some the the cityscapes disappear from the backgrounds.  But I am always happy to see old buildings and ground textures be replaced.  Too many hotels need to be taken out. ;D  I am happy with all the news and positive changes.  Great work ETS2 team! There will certainly be more changes.

Well of course.  I am looking at a map of France right now and there are certainly some centers of population that will be added.  That is too much land area to have nothing.

Las Vegas, new shadowing, colour presets... Pfff...
What impressed me the most — they finally taught the Road Advisor how to show distance to the next checkpoint ;D! Oh, how I missed this option every time when the company gived me the truck with 150-gallon fuel tank and I wanted to know, it's better to stop at this crappy fuel station with several sharp turns and traffic lights, or I have a chance to reach the next station, located directly at the road ;D.

So looking forward to all the new roads!

There was also an update today on the completion of OPERATION GENOA BRIDGE.  So good job to all who contributed.

New photos and info on the Iberian Peninsula.

SCS BLOG POST

They have really improved vistas it seems.  And is that a knock-off Dacia Duster I see?  Have those always been in the game?

He-he.
Idaho DLC had a post about potatoes, and now it's time to speak about olives ;D.

It looks like the first Duster, not a current version with Jeep Renegade-like tail lights, and it’s in the game since 1.33 (Renegade joined in after 1.30).

I think those new ETS2 pics look great for the Iberia expansion.  That might be the best draw distances ETS2 has ever had.  Also the first time we will be entering desert-ish climes as we head into southern Spain.

In addition to announced uprgades, here is another minor and totally unexpected change — they gave truck dealership prefabs the unique corporate style!
Don’t know about MAN or Scania, but at least Renault and Mercedes dealerships look exactly like ones I see every day while commuting. So I think that something similar can be applied to ATS in future releases ^-^.
(*Whispering*) and, BTW, there are rumors about hidden dealerships for Western Star.

I am excited! This is great news to see better dealer designs.

Also...about this hidden Western Star dealership... do you know where it might be?

I was kind of hoping for Freightliner personally, but sure. A smaller brand like Western Star might be fun.

The rumors say that they were spotted in Oxnard and Stockton. There were WS branded prefabs there, which were immediately replaced by usual service shops shortly after Beta have started, but their models are still in game files.

In every place where these rumors were published, there is a lot of comments about why it's not a Freightliner. My thoughts were exactly the same too ;D.

I heard there was something also in Yakima too, but I am not sure if that was with International or Volvo or something.

I would much prefer Freightliner (pretty much one the biggest trucking companies in America) over Western Star.  Also of all the International trucks, I wish the Lonestar wasn't the first or only one, lol.

But if they are making Western Star, the parent company who owns Western Star also owns Freightliner... so you would think a Freightliner would be in the works too.

Aside from video, there is one more detail: on this screenshot you can see an Anthem with white mudflaps, but all four options for them in 1.37 are black. So it’s probably a sign that SCS will rework current mudflaps or add white ones separately. And maybe mudflaps are not the only change ;D.

UPD: And another post about Idaho: routes for Special Transport DLC will be there from the beginning.
