Pixar Animation Studios Discussion
A topic for past, present, and future Pixar Animation Studios (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixar) films. They started under as a CGI Company with strong backing from Apple and Steve Jobs. They have sense been bought out by Disney. They are known for using Apple computers to create their films.
They are known for films such as the Toy Story franchise, Monster's Inc franchise, Finding Nemo, and The Incredibles franchise, the Cars franchise, Ratatouille, WALL-E, Up, Inside Out, Coco and more.
-
They have five films listed for the future, with two films for 2020, one for 2021, and two for 2022. Only two films listed have names.
Onward - March 6, 2020
Soul - June 19, 2020
-
Both movie's have unique names and I am always interested in Pixar. A bit worried with two films in one year... usually when they do that, one isn't as good.
-
New little short by Pixar. I think it's pretty obvious the message.
In a rather surprising move, there is some swearing in this Pixar short.
-
I was not honestly expecting that at all.
-
Oh, that's cute! I didn't expect the swear words though from Pixar.
-
I will watch this eventually. :D It looks cute.
-
Which Toy Story is best Toy Story?

Which Toy Story is best Toy Story?
You can't beat the original toy story more me so many emotions with that movie
-
I can really relate to this movie https://youtu.be/4TojlZYqPUo
-
They are all good. But I will admit, TS2 is probably my favorite. It could have ended so well. But TS3 did a great job too.
-
New Pixar film, "Soul" trailer revealed! I love the visuals from within the city and the music, oh the music is so smooth!
The little characters near the end remind me of "Inside Out" and I hope the film isn't just of those. The world's Pixar builds are second to none. That shot of the New York skyline was stellar.
-
Oh cool! We got the teaser! The city and street scene details and stellar!
-
That looks good so far. I want to see more.
-
The first part looks amazing. But then when they become colorful blobs (Reminds me of Inside Out) I lose all interest. I would much prefer the other visuals... which I know are much harder and intensive to do.
-
This guy mentioned some points I had been considering. The fact that "Soul" may look too similar to "Inside Out" a bit. The beautiful scenery looks like it becomes generic. It just seems like everything in the trailer made me lose interest when he fell down the drain and became that fluffy thing.
I don't agree with much else they said.
Why Pixar's Soul Concerns Me... (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yi2Gb4Tt7Fc)
-
It concerns me too. You're exactly right in what you are saying.
-
Pixar has two movies this year for us.
"Soul" and "Onward."
-
I guess we should mention the new film, "Onward" releases today. I don't think this film will do well compared to other Pixar films. It will probably be overlooked as a bro film and families won't go see it. The premise isn't what people want for a family movie. I think it will get "okay" reviews but it will receive a cult following in the long run from people who will be like... "Remember that time Pixar made a movie for our kind of sub-culture group, etc."
There ya go. That's my thoughts on, "Onward." Lets see what happens.
Here's the already stereotypical advert for it.
-
I personally think ONWARD looks fun, but I understand it has a target demographic. It's aimed more at guys clearly, and has that geeky, nerdy, Dungeons and Dragon's vibe to it! I hope it's a success.... but as I had said in another topic, any films that come out right now are going to struggle in the coming months due to Covid-19 spreading and fears amongst the populace. A lot of movies will probably be rescheduled to release at another date and films that do release, won't perform as well as expected. This film won't do that well in the box office I fear partially because of that... and it might make it one of their (Pixar's) worst performing films. It will then be labeled as a flop, regardless of how good the film actually is.
-
Ok so I saw the film earlier today and without saying anything spoiler-ey, this film was actually a butt ton of fun. Like MasterX said it definitely was aimed more for those who are immersed in fantasy. Being a DnD player myself I understand completely. And that's what it felt like. If Disney ran a DnD campaign, I have no doubt, this is what it would be. All around I think its worth at least one watch on the big screen.
-
Personally, I think it looks like fun. I'm kinda nerdy like that and I think it is targeted at me. You know the folks who made this had a passion to share their nerdiness to the world! I do hope to see it, but I will see it when it comes out on video.
-

I haven't thought about that, but you are probably right.
-
The official trailer of Soul has been released 8 hrs ago.
-
Seems a little more interesting now on their take of the afterlife before Heaven kind of thing. Seems creative. But I also feel like we've done this before... Coco?
-
It looks really well done as always, but it doesn't interest me a whole lot. Nonetheless, I will probably watch it like all Pixar films.
-
Seems kind of so-so to me. But I know they hide tons until you watch it. It will probably have that lovely Pixar charm.
-

You called it. Film is tanking horribly... :( But a lot of it is due to fears about Coronavirus and being in close quarters at a theater. This film got shafted because of that too.
Onward made $12.1 million on its first day, including $2 million from Thursday night previews. The film went on to debut to $39.1 million, topping the box office but marking the third-ever lowest start for a Pixar film. While the film remained in first in its second weekend, it dropped 73% to $10.5 million (the worst-ever second weekend for a Pixar film), and was part of the lowest total-grossing weekend since October 1998, with all films combining for just $55.3 million.

Pretty much yes on every account. I wonder if studios will "rerelease" some films that came out during this time? Like maybe Pixar could re-release Onward at a later time? Can they do that?
-
Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch! Pixar's "Onward" is a box office BOMB due to Covid-19 outbreak. Against a budget that is nearing $200 million, the film has only gotten $104 million. This would be Pixar's first BOX OFFICE BOMB. It's not due to the film either, it's the outbreak.
I believe Pixar should re-release the film in the fall as should most films coming out at this time.
-
Wow, that's a big burn on a Pixar film. Disney just expects to print money with them. Ouch.
-
Onward was amazing, I really liked it!
-
Disney is taking a financial hit to Onward and no word on if they will re-release it in theaters.
But Disney did say they would "re-release it on Disney+." So they won't make any money on that....
Now will "Soul" be pushed back to a different release date?
-
I’d be surprised if it wasn’t
-
I feel bad for 'Onward.' I know Pixar puts a lot of effort in their films and to have this one bomb at no fault of their own stinks. It will forever be a stain financially even though it wasn't their fault even in the slightest.
-
Yeah, that really sucks it flopped. I really hope that doesn't hurt peaple's opinions on the movie, since I really loved it!
-
Blame the virus for its failure.
Someday will it be seen a forgotten Pixar gem that never got its due? Who knows.
-
That sucks! Onward looks like a beautiful film. ( I haven't seen it yet.)
-
Blame the virus for its failure.
Someday will it be seen a forgotten Pixar gem that never got its due? Who knows.
It hasn't been particularly rated high among critics. Onwards is a middling to average film at best. Nothing original about it. If you remove the weird characters, it could be told and set in a normal world... so it's really nothing special other than Pixar's stunning ability to animate and design.
That said, this film might receive a small cult following, but overall, I think it will be a forgotten Pixar film never getting the limelight it may have deserved. It will just be forgotten... like "A Bugs' Life," "Brave," and "The Good Dinosaur."
-
And it's official... Pixar's Soul has been downgraded to be released on Disney Plus on December 25, 2020.
This is really sad to see movies be forced onto streaming services... Without being given the chance to be seen by the masses and to have some exclusivity for awhile.
-
This is a pretty nice video on Pixar's progression with humans. It's quite enlightening and amazing when you see how much they've improved. It never seemed "outdated" when the films originally released, but the progression speaks for itself looking back on it.
-
Soul comes out Dec 25 still... Hmmmm. The downgrade is too bad to hear about. I guess until theaters maybe someday open, that's all we can ask for.
-
Soul doesn't interest me based on the adverts. It did interest me when we saw the man walking around Manhattan, but then when they became cartoony blobs, I lost interest. I would love to see Pixar be able to make a living world in a movie as shown when the man is walking around the city and interacting with it.
-
The new film, Soul is out. It is a much more mature and intellectual take on thoughts brought up in the movie "Inside Out." It's much more aimed towards an adult audience. Without going into spoilers, this whole film is unexpected. It is a very good film but it's conclusion maybe isn't as impactful as it is relatable. It's a very subtle film too. If you are worried much of the film is blue blobs, thankfully it isn't, and we get to see much of NYC and the living world. If you liked Coco and Inside Out, but want something a tad more mature, you might enjoy this film. :)
8/10.
-
Thanks for the mini review, Smiles. I will watch it eventually.
-
Pixar has released the teaser for their new film, LUCA. It goes for a more stylized cartoony approach.
-
It looks cute and cheerful. I will say I was shocked by the twist in the teaser, can't say that part excites me as much, but I do like the style. It's very cheery and happy and looks like it could be a fun tale of a story!
-
Colorful and pretty neat looking scenery and town. Doesn't even look like a Pixar project.
-
Soul comes out Dec 25 still... Hmmmm.
Soul doesn't interest me based on the adverts. ..I lost interest.
[doing a bad David Spade (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdRfl0W6qbM) imitation] I loved this movie the first time I saw it... when it was called Coco.
Did you know they have a Soul dog toy? It's a chewy plaything for pets shaped like that guy's cat--a flesh-and-blood cartoon kitty on one side; turn it over, there's a cartoon ghost cat on the other. Very strange movie tie-in... yum, yum, here ya go, boy, chew on a cat. I guess they had to be damn careful: if they marketed chewies shaped like a cartoon black man, someone would be bawling systemic racism....
-
That is a very strange sound dog toy.
Pixar has apparently been selling pet toys for awhile.

-
I think it's colorful and pretty. Probably just the kind of happy, silly film the world needs right now.
-
This is an interesting video on Pixar's movements and rigging. It made me appreciate what they do so much more. I learned things I never knew about or thought about. They have to do so much.
-
^ I watched that yesterday. It was very interesting to watch. Thanks for sharing that.
-
Official trailer has dropped for LUCA!
It looks like an innocent, fun movie. More cartoony style.
-
Oooooh! That looks like fun! :D
-
It looks quite promising. No the typical Pixar style of character, more generic actually. But I like the setting from what we see.
It reminds me of a Sony styled animation akin to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
-
It looks pretty. :) Looks fun.
-
The Dad reminds me of the Dad from Cloud with a Chance of Meatballs.
-
This new film is having a lot of drama come about. Many are claiming it is a "coming out" film of two budding lovers. Pixar and the film's creator claim it isn't and people are making it up.
Nonetheless, this film now has baggage that will make people hate it just because of an iota of uncertainty now.
-
If these claims are unfounded and turn out to be untrue, it isn't fair for the Pixar crew who worked on this.
-
And they do seem to be unfounded. The creator and Pixar have said they are JUST FRIENDS. Childhood friends. I looked through dozens of articles and it's only social media making the "fake" rumors. Legitimate news sources are explaining they are wrong.
An Article (https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/tripideas/pixar-e2-80-99s-lush-e2-80-98luca-e2-80-99-celebrates-young-friendship-e2-80-94-with-a-twist/ar-AAL2E1g?ocid=BingNewsSearch)
-
I thought they were brothers-- oh, and I loved this movie the first time I saw it.... back in the eighties, when it was called Splash, starring Daryl Hannah. :D
-
^ Hehe.
-
It looks like a fun and colorful movie.
-
New Pixar film called "Lightyear." For 2022.
Based off first impressions, this doesn't seem like a Pixar film.
-
I saw the thumbnail for this on Discord my immediate thought was "This is a fan film." Imagine my surprise when I found out this was legit Pixar.
-
That truly doesn't seem like a Pixar film. I mean it is visually good, but just not... not Pixar good.
-
I saw that, and I honestly thought it was Disney animation trying to take a Pixar property and screw it up. It doesn't look like a Pixar film... and really doesn't interest me.
Buzz Lightyear is a toy... not some real guy.
But that said, visually, they could make some serious sci-fi stuff here. Get rid of the silly characters and make a serious SCI-FY space movie. I know they wouldn't want to risk their Star Wars franchise, but they could totally do it.
-
You think maybe this is just gonna be a movie within a movie? Like at the very end it zooms out and it turns out we're just watching a grown up Andy with his kid or something in a movie theater?
-
You think maybe this is just gonna be a movie within a movie? Like at the very end it zooms out and it turns out we're just watching a grown up Andy with his kid or something in a movie theater?
While that would be crazy, I don't think they would do that.
But if they did, you called it first!
Edit: Sorry @Blurr, I accidentally clicked to moderate your post instead of Quote it, and so that is why you see the "last edit" under your post. I didn't change anything.
-
This really looks unappealing to me. I mean, a lot of people like Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, but I don't think anyone wanted a REAL Buzz.
-
They have another film coming out too. I forgot it's name, but it's something about a girl who turns into a red creature. It honestly doesn't look like a Pixar film either. I am starting to think some of these are Disney animated films that Disney forces Pixar to have their name included... further watering down and making Pixar more anonymous.
-
Lightyear looks like it will be more mature of a film from Pixar. Bringing the hero introduced in Toy Story back in 1996, and brining him to that same audience nearly 30 years later.
-
I am more interested in this than I have been recent Pixar films.
-

Sounds a lot like they cribbed the plot off an old Looney Tunes cartoon (https://looneytunes.fandom.com/wiki/Hyde_and_Go_Tweet) (or two (https://www.wcostream.com/the-sylvester-tweety-mysteries-episode-19-keep-your-pantheon-london-broiled))... of course, I said the same thing (https://looneytunes.fandom.com/wiki/Baby_Buggy_Bunny) about The Boss Baby (https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/looneytunes/images/6/62/Baby_buggy_bunny-2.png/revision/latest?cb=20200123231205), and I actually found myself immensely enjoying, even a bit moved, by that one. So maybe I should try to keep an open mind and not be so prepared to utterly savage this movie.
-
Lightyear looks interesting. Can't say I am a fan of space in any format, so it might not interest me much... yet I loved Wall-E, so who knows?
-
So maybe I should try to keep an open mind and not be so prepared to utterly savage this movie.
That is a good idea and I should do the same. @NostradamusTheSeer
Also note... if you liked Boss Baby, don't bother with Boss Baby 2. ^b-
-
I'm really torn with that Lightyear one. I want to like it, but I am also not that interested? It might be because of my age now? Lol! But I think it's cool they are trying something different.
What is this other movie people are talking about here? Something about getting mad and turning into a creature? I don't see any vids of it here.
-
Also note... if you liked Boss Baby, don't bother with Boss Baby 2.
Too late for me, I'm afraid. Curse my completist nature. :'( That's why I like streaming online. No more spending my Black Friday shopping spree loading up on deeply-discounted DVD's of two-star mvies and fumbling to remember the bizarre color-coded sticker system (https://images.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search;_ylt=AwrEZ7ZIUARi7wgAQQEPxQt.;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzEEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3BpdnM-?p=wal+mart+dvd+sticker%2C+black+friday&type=gsp_dimensions_00_00_--x1-126--¶m1=1¶m2=cat%3Dweb%26sesid%3Debe0d3e04e2711bff618a3b4d8925518%26ip%3D2604%3A2d80%3A4f81%3Ac800%3Afd37%3Af2f%3A7680%3Aee7c%26b%3DChrome%26bv%3D96.0.4664.111%26os%3DChrome-OS%26os_ver%3D%26pa%3Dgencoll05%26sid%3Dc5dcc5a7fd550fbecf94653a76060020%26abid%3D%26abg%3D%26a%3Dgsp_dimensions_00_00_--x1-126--%26sdk_ver%3D%26cd%3D%26cr%3D%26uid%3D%26uref%3D&hsimp=yhs-005&hspart=dcola&ei=UTF-8&fr=yhs-dcola-005#id=32&iurl=https%3A%2F%2Fprod-cdn-thekrazycouponlady.imgix.net%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2020%2F11%2Fwalmart-black-friday-in-store-sale-dvds-2020-01-1605907099-1605907099.jpg%3Fauto%3Dcompress%2Cformat%26fit%3Dcrop&action=click) they use: yellow this, orange that... blue here, green there...purple?--black?!? :o :-[ Really, Boss Baby 2 was the Look Who's Talking 3 of that franchise--it brought nothing really new to the changing table, and even the bad guy came off as a mere rehash of the "baby" half (https://bossbaby.fandom.com/wiki/Turtleneck_Superstar) of the evil power couple from season 2 of the Netflix series.
What is this other movie people are talking about here? Something about getting mad and turning into a creature? I don't see any vids of it here.
Found it. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turning_Red)
-
Here is the trailer for 'Turning Red.'
-
Turning Red is getting slammed over and over, and now Disney is dumping the film from a movie theater release to just a Disney+ release.... Pixar is being turned into a direct to movie type studio.... And now we got this.... a Variety female reviewer has called the film, 'Unapologetically Horny...' It is getting worse for Disney and Pixar... Article (https://www.piratesandprincesses.net/turning-red-film-critic-calls-the-new-pixar-cartoon-unapologetically-horny/)
-
Didn't know there was any drama, but that is what the internet does. Makes up stuff and has a cow.
Being downgraded to a streaming release is a major blow though. Oof.
-
Now Pixar is mad that their film isn't getting a theatrical release. I wonder why Disney did this?
-
Well I got to see "Turning Red" and it was.... not at all what I was expecting. It um....... I actually...... I actually can't say I enjoyed it. I didn't find it good. The animation, the visuals, etc, all were great. But.... I really didn't enjoy this film. :( It had so many questionable choices and seemed very different compared to most Pixar films. Usually their films are fun for kids and adults, but this film seemed very limited towards pre-teen, specifically female girls. It seemed very niche. It also made a ton of weird sexual jokes and made sexual statements that made it very weird.
Pixar films are usually safe for families to go see, but I can't say this movie would be something a lot of parents would want their kids to watch. It got pretty raunchy. It had so many weird and bizarre metaphors, but the film didn't really say anything.
I would not recommend this film. It's a shame, because it looked fun. But I think the specific demographic this film catered to will like it. I think girls and teen/pre-teen females will enjoy it more. Most everyone else will be scratching their heads.
Thats all I got. :-\ I would say this Pixar film was a dud. This will be a polarizing film and I think I know why Disney pulled this film from a full theatrical release.
-
^ Thanks for sharing. I'm not sure what he consensus is yet, but interesting and unexpected take for sure.
-
I saw it, found it entertaining, and fun. But I agree with APD in that I understand why Disney didn't make this have a theatrical release. It did some adult-ish things that most parents wouldn't want their kids to see. I did like all the characters though.
7/10.
-
I really enjoyed "Turning Red." I thought it was cute and fun.
-
So Lightyear is out. It isn't performing as they had hoped.
As of June 19, 2022, Lightyear has grossed $51 million in the United States and Canada, and $34.6 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $85.6 million.
In the United States and Canada, Lightyear was originally projected to gross $70–85 million from 4,255 theaters in its opening weekend.[1] However, after making just $20.7 million on its first day (including $5.2 million from Thursday night previews), estimates were lowered to $51–55 million. It went on to debut to an estimated $51 million, finishing second behind holdover Jurassic World Dominion. Both Deadline Hollywood and Variety attributed the under-performance to competition from Jurassic World and Top Gun: Maverick, though noted it as a disappointment given the brand strength of both Pixar and the Toy Story series.
-
Lightyear is currently a box office bomb.
-
Woke Disney is having a hard time with all their movies. It's great.
-
Lol!

Elemental
Inside Out 2
and also Elio.
-
At least we got some new original stories in here. :) Hopefully the sequel will be good too. Pixar has picked things up and improved again in their last several movies.
It just stinks Disney pushes them to streaming releases instead of the theatrical releases they deserve.
-
We know two new Pixar films coming now...
Elemental
Inside Out 2
and also Elio.
Thank you, DEE. :) <<<V>>>
-
Lightyear suffered a clear-cut case of "been there, done that" retread whiff. (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLHTdnJZ_o3VQ_7VVVQv5t99_3Dg_5s5k1) The franchise has been around for 25 years, four films, numerous commercial bumpers for Disney's Saturday morning lineup on ABC, and a holiday special or two; let it go.
[weary]
I haven't seen Turning Red yet, but I will applaud them for building a whole film around such an unusual and not-often-seen critter (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SmallTaxonomyPools?from=Main.SeldomSeenSpecies). The only other red panda to be featured in any animated series, as far as I can tell, is Sody Pop (https://chiknnuggit.fandom.com/wiki/Sody_Pop) (no, not (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MB1hWQmp4A4) that one (https://youtu.be/FXUXqM7tViA?list=PLTC5PFzUSkTX8fNHXWx_-cVk0RFicEQD4&t=75)).
-
I think Turning Red was way better than Lightyear.
-
Elemental now has a wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elemental_(2023_film))
-
I think we all saw this coming. Elemental is getting mixed reviews from early screeners. Film comes out June 16, 2023.

Overcomplicated Rom-com (https://variety.com/2023/film/reviews/elemental-review-pixar-1235626948/) - Variety
-
It's gonna be a mediocre film.
-
'Elemental' is going to be a massive disappointment. Predicting it now. It's not going to be a bomb (but it will for Pixar and Disney standards) and it's not going to be well liked. It's going to be a massive disappointment like 'Lightyear.' Pixar is losing it's identity and Disney is sucking the life out of them.
Disney has no identity anymore anymore. It's a shell of itself.
-
I think it might make decent money, but its going to be way less than they'd hoped. I agree it will be a disappointment.
-
It begins.
Elemental was projected to gross $35–40 million from 4,035 theaters in its opening weekend. The film made $11.8 million on its first day (including $2.4 million from Thursday night previews), lowering the estimates to $30 million.
-
It is REALLY happening.
Elemental went on to debut to $29.5 million, finishing in third and marking the worst opening weekend ever for a Pixar film.
-
You guys are getting good at predicting things.

The water guy's design looks very similar to Osmosis Jones (https://images.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search;_ylt=Awrih_3Aa5BkPS4AVvE2nIlQ;_ylu=c2xrA3RleHQEaXQDQWxzb1RyeV9OBHNlYwNyZWwEcG9zAzE-?p=Chris+Rock+Osmosis+Jones&fr2=p%3As%2Cv%3Ai%2Cm%3Ars-top%2Cct%3Abing%2Crgn%3Atop%2Cpos%3A1&fr=yhs-blp-default&hsimp=yhs-default&hspart=blp&type=nt_12200003_727_0¶m1=sid%3D727%3Aaid%3D12200003%3Aver%3D0%3Asrc%3Dnt%3Alng%3Den%3Aitype%3De%3Ainstd%3D0%3Auip%3D844184365%3Aup%3D). I dunno, I feel it's been done. It's a "fish out of water" story... but in this one, the fish is water. I mean, if done, like, a decade ago, it would have been a story about the disparity between the economic classes... in 2023 it's about race? I thought Obama has taken us all past that.... ::)
Both Pixar and Dreamworks share the egregious sin, really, of exhausting their properties by making numerous sequels, prequels, and spinoffs based on them 'til everyone's burned out on the franchise. Deciding Tim Allen is a bit too right-wing to suit Disney these days and, instead of asking him to reprise his lovable bumbling spaceman character in Lightyear, trying to throw a sop of a mediocre, forgettable Santa Clauseholiday project (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Santa_Clauses) his way was the big mistake. So if this movie did make bank, would we be seeing Elemental: the Series on Disney Plus in 2026?

It's been done before and seen before. This movie is doing nothing new and Disney is really watering down Pixar OR the layoffs at Pixar have routed the talented storytellers. Sure they still have ground breaking animation, but it honestly isn't anything that special to what every other studio is doing now days.

Now the question will be, how far behind will it be?
Pixar revealed their next film... Elio? I think? It looks to fall under the same issue. It isn't fresh.
-
Elio.

*Shrugs*

Elemental has grossed over $69 million worldwide against a $200 million production budget, being described as a "disappointment" by many as well as a box-office bomb and being the lowest-grossing Pixar movie on its opening weekend. It received praise from critics for its animation, though its screenplay was considered underwhelming.
Haha, how would @Blurr make a film called "The Elementals" now that this film has tainted the name.
-
@RainySunshine Nah I wouldn't rename it. I'd just keep the name so people would remember it as "The good one."
-
Avatar or Avatar the Last Airbender? One people remember is the blue people and one they remember M. Night Shamaylan destroyed.

So going back this weekend I've watched two Pixar films I hadn't seen yet. the first was Lightyear and the second was Soul.
Lightyear was alright. I can definitely understand why it wouldn't be other's cup of tea and it wasn't really mine either. It was just just a movie within another movie about a toy in the other movie. Not really much else to say about it, but I will say this. A lot of times voice actors won't come back to voice lines for their character's action figures should they get some. So having someone other than Tim Allen voice Buzz in a very small way to does make sense.
Moving onto Soul. Good visuals, good message, but a lot of the writing had me dozing in and out of it. It just wasn't engaging in most areas. And the sparse places where it did have me paying attention passed way too quickly. Plus I wasn't really feeling some of the actor's performances throughout them.
What did you guys think? Do you agree? Do you have different thoughts?

I did watch Lightyear with a younger family member who didn't really like the movie and I thought it was kind of a bore-fest. It just seemed like it really didn't need to be made. I am not sure why it exists and if a younger person who this movie was maybe catered to didn't care for it, Pixar has lost the mark here. Visuals were great though, but some characters didn't even seem liked they visually matched. CGI characters are all becoming generic.
Never saw Soul.
I do want to see Luca. It looks cute and fun. I did like Turning Red.
-
I didn't see them. Last Pixar film I saw was Turning Red.
-
Inside Out 2
-
^ This looks like it can be fun. ;D But similar to the Turning Red film in terms of it dealing with puberty.
-
Looks fun to me. :) Maybe they will finally have another hit?
-
And the Inside Out 2 trailer has dropped in full.
-
Good preview frame, by the way ;D.
-
Meh.... if they want to revisit Osmosis Jones with Inside Out 2, why not just do an Osmosis Jones sequel?
...Yeah, I know, OJ isn't a Pixar pic. Still, though, why keep knocking off a twenty-year-plus old movie starring a stand-up comic who is, himself, making jokes about another twenty-year-plus old movie (https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search;_ylt=AwrjYUqeKfdlVoIu69QPxQt.;_ylc=X1MDMjExNDcwMDU1OQRfcgMyBGZyA3locy1mYy0xLTIEZnIyA3A6cyx2OncsbTpzYSxzYV9tazoyNwRncHJpZANMTXlPMWdnZ1E0YV9MSTA5MWpVOFBBBG5fcnNsdAMwBG5fc3VnZwMxMARvcmlnaW4Dc2VhcmNoLnlhaG9vLmNvbQRwb3MDMQRwcXN0cgNnLmkuIGphbmUEcHFzdHJsAzkEcXN0cmwDOQRxdWVyeQNHLkkuJTIwSmFuZQR0X3N0bXADMTcxMDY5Njk0NAR1c2VfY2FzZQM-?p=G.I.+Jane&fr2=p%3As%2Cv%3Aw%2Cm%3Asa%2Csa_mk%3A27&hspart=fc&hsimp=yhs-1-2¶m1=7¶m2=eJwti1EKwjAQRK%2Bynwol3W1iTOJRikjSpjU0NaW1KJ7eFWQ%2B5g0zM6a%2BvVzXnhCVlbqtrg%2FOnCTjr2Lr2Ky1TGlhbDQq1%2FQGnRoMOWMRnel9cIP16EKIwelGRZ6PsfB%2B3xh3zzSXT8rZ1yeBcHgTXaBbywZvo29aASlDWpAkgUfwy5LjK4YpPeuTPAup4TDdn3OuIKcpwhi7qRyhu69ljjWhFPgTbH7wa%2FpfvhV%2FQJ0%3D&type=fc_A488CA6E845_s69_g_e_d_n1003_c999&d=%7B%22dn%22%3A%22yk%22%2C%22subdn%22%3A%22movie%22%2C%22ykid%22%3A%22bab6b149-f594-41ee-90d1-6f331e212a81%22%7D&fd=%7B%22subtitle%22%3A%22Movie+%281997%29%22%2C%22imageUrl%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fs.yimg.com%2Fzb%2Fimgv1%2F80cf9943-7b1d-3fab-862e-30b5fd441bfa%2Ft_140x140%22%2C%22year%22%3A%221997%22%2C%22genre%22%3A%5B%22Drama%22%5D%2C%22releaseDate%22%3A%221997-08-22%22%2C%22offer%22%3A%7B%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fwww.peacocktv.com%2Fwatch%2Fplayback%2Fvod%2FGMO_00000000484080_01%2F85054772-c86a-32c7-a579-f31b448d7998%22%2C%22offerType%22%3A%22subscription%22%2C%22offerHostName%22%3A%22peacock+us%22%2C%22lastUpdatedDate%22%3A%222024-03-02%22%7D%2C%22short_desc%22%3A%22A+female+Navy+SEALs+recruit+%28Demi+Moore%29+completes+rigorous+training.%22%2C%22o_imgUrl%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fs.yimg.com%2Fzb%2Fimgv1%2F80cf9943-7b1d-3fab-862e-30b5fd441bfa%2Ft_1024x1024%22%7D&mkr=27), and is himself struggling to stay relevant (https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2022/mar/28/chris-rock-comedy-career-will-smith)?
