Aperently, Sony animation is going to be making more R/Pg-13 movies. I really hope black Knight from gendy and spider verse 2 are Pg-13 via this article: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://deadline.com/2020/06/sony-pictures-animation-kristine-belson-covid-19-r-rated-movies-1202969612/amp/&ved=0ahUKEwiu7feLsr3qAhUt4YUKHTrEACEQyM8BCCcwAA&usg=AOvVaw1ol5zTZNGITzGVwopIVKh7&ampcf=1

So whatever happened to "Connected" which was supposed to release September 18, 2020?

Well it was pushed to Oct 23, 2020... and then it was pulled from release entirely.  It is currently unknown when it will be released, with Sony last saying it is in limbo for release, but it might still see a 2020 release.

There has been a lot of backlash from people saying they liked the family roadtrip and family life aspect of the film, but a lot disliking the distasteful "robot take over the world" stuff.  From trailers, it looks like there will be a message about technology and how generations adapt to it.

Well Connected has just about already finished it's production. So due to that, the movie will still come out, but it has been said that they will wait for a release date for the movie once the theaters are in control during their reopening season.

Connected will now come to Netflix later this year and it reverted back to it’s original title, The Mitchells vs. The Machines.

That isn't good.  Looks like this film had a lot of issues in development.  They didn't think it would be good enough for a full theatrical release either... and to have the title changed AGAIN.... yeah, not good.  "Sony sold the distribution rights to Netflix in January 2021, upon which the film was renamed back to The Mitchells vs. the Machines."

I feel bad for all the people who worked on the film to only have it be tossed around so much then be sold out to a lowly streaming service.

Maybe there's another project in the works with the title "Connected" and they're afraid of confusion?  That can happen, esp. with the wide availability of streaming services.  For the sake of your impressionable children, don't put on the program Cake thinking it's that other show Cake.  "Mama, what it that man doing to that shark?"  (loud anguished scream from parent)

Actually here is why I believe Connected had to change back to it's original title.

So it changed because of another project called "Connected."  But it still is sad to see this film be dragged through the mud and be given the kiss of death for Sony.  They obviously didn't care about it after what had been going on and figured they could make some money by simply selling it instead of promoting it at theaters.  That is very sad for all the people who worked on it.

It's like a parent no longer caring about their kid's art and telling them to just leave or something.  Sad.

Keep in mind, it’s because of the pandemic. They wanted The Mitchells vs. The Machines to come to theaters but the pandemic has been causing a major affect on theaters.

Two new films being worked on by Sony Animation are.... Vivo (which the logo reminds me a lot of Coco) and Hotel Transylvania 4.  Both have a scheduled release for 2021.  Another s "Wish Dragon."

Sony is projecting to have a busy year of films in 2021.  But it is likely they will be pushed around and de-platformed again.  Lets hope not.

Sony has premiered the trailer for their new big upcoming film.  Hotel Transylvania 4.  It is by far one of their biggest IP's.  It is coming out to theaters on July  23, 2021.

Another?

Adam Sandler and Kevin James aren't reprising their roles as Drac and Frank, respectively.  Not a  good sign.  Didn't James get mixed up in that #MeToo mess and is now forced to hide out in Italy, making films?  Or am I thinking of another actor?  Well, if it isn't sexual harassment charges that tank his career, it'll be doing that stinker Becky.  Phew.    ;D

I am looking at future films for the studio and they have no theatrical releases planned for quite awhile.  Everything they will be releasing now are releases to STREAMING, so lower quality content.

I wonder if something is happening with the studio?  Why the drop off from theater releases?
