Redline Automotive Discussion
[size=14]
Welcome to Redline Automotive Discussion on PSF! I've seen some people try to talk about cars in certain topics here on PSF, but we've never had a home for car news and chat. So now we have one. This may be popular, this might not, that is up to you to decide. Want to talk about some upcoming new cars? Sure. How about some classic cars? Sure. Trucks, racing, your car? All of that is no problem! Welcome to PSF's home for automotive talk!
Lets take it to the
Redline

Great idea for a topic man! Lets get our hands greasy with this.
Loving what the Mopar guys have been up to with their SRT branded vehicles. Got to be careful not to devalue the SRT name though. So far it is so good.

I agree. It has been nothing but success so far. Not to mention the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk and the recent Hellcat Charger and Challenger.

I mean I love those Dodge products too, but they really need to make vehicles the average person can buy too. They've lost the bread and butter besides the Caravan and Journey which still exist. Chrysler only has 3 products right now, the Pacifica, 200, and 300. They need to give these brands more vehicles to sell to people. Not repackaged more powerful vehicles. They need sales.

Chrysler is trying to be debt free by 2018. So they are making tons of money on Jeep's and Ram's. They've stopped focusing on cars and will focus on SUV's and crossovers. Hence why they stopped producing cars for Dodge and Chrysler that are new. Just continued tweaks. Making powerful cars is cheap compared to making a whole new car.

But they still need new vehicles. You can only put lipstick so much on a Charger that is now 15 years old.

True, very true. They are stretched thin and focusing a lot on Alfa Romeo. The hope is the chassis's that are used for the Alfa's will be used on future Dodge and Chrysler products. They are just trying to keep the Dodge and Chrysler name relevant. Dodge has the powerful cars making headlines, and Chrysler has the top of the line, award winning, Pacifica.

I hope the Alfa stuff can be used, otherwise those two storied brands could be outdated and left with nothing while everyone else moves on.

I've been a GM guy myself, but I think Mopar is one of the most fun brands out there.

I found it interesting too Mercedes made a truck, teased it to everyone then said the US won't get it. The US is the biggest pickup market... WHY THE HECK wouldn't they sell it here?
