I'm confused how it got brighter.  That is the exact opposite of what is supposed to happen to the sky.

In areas that were in the center of the path of totality it got pitch black.  It started in Oregon and worked it's way down South Carolina.

I found this video that the Oregon Department of Transportation did of the eclipse.  it is a very quick time-lapse.  Pretty cool.

Here are a few more pics from the Oregon DOT.

Salem, Oregon was the largest city the path of totality throughout the US.  Here it was during the darkness, when the sun was blocked.  This was at 10:20am.

Totality from Salem, Oregon.

This VIDEO shows off the darkness REALLY good.  Also in Salem, Oregon.

Well, southern Texas was almost out of the area to see much difference.  Barely saw 50% of it, which wouldn't be noticeable.  You would want to be in the 90% range.

Dang, APD!  Those are cool.  The last video of the crowds then it got freaking dark on them!  Kinda creepy.  Shows how tiny of a dot we are.

This might be hard to figure out at first, but it is pretty much a shadow of what is happening up in the sky.  This particular one was in Seattle, Washington.  Someone took a picture of the shadow they got through their binoculars.  The round circle to the right in the sun, and you can see the moon is cutting into that circle.  They had about 92% coverage in Seattle.

I noticed when it started happening, the temps dipped like crazy and their was a cool windy breeze.  It was kind of freaky.  I can understand why in the ancient times people thought it was a bad omen or Satan or something.

Here is another cool one from the Oregon coast this time.  They had clouds, but you can still see it.

And here is one more pic from somewhere in the US.  It didn't say.  But this is just as the sun is starting to peak back through.  You can see why it would be dangerous to look at with the naked eye, especially if this just happens to pop out.

You guys saw it too?  It got weirdly darkish.  Sort of like evening time, but everything had a different colored hue.
