And they do seem to be unfounded.  The creator and Pixar have said they are JUST FRIENDS.  Childhood friends.  I looked through dozens of articles and it's only social media making the "fake" rumors.  Legitimate news sources are explaining they are wrong.

I thought they were brothers-- oh, and I loved this movie the first time I saw it.... back in the eighties, when it was called Splash, starring Daryl Hannah.    :D

It looks like a fun and colorful movie.

New Pixar film called "Lightyear."  For 2022.

Based off first impressions, this doesn't seem like a Pixar film.

I saw the thumbnail for this on Discord my immediate thought was "This is a fan film." Imagine my surprise when I found out this was legit Pixar.

That truly doesn't seem like a Pixar film.  I mean it is visually good, but just not... not Pixar good.

I saw that, and I honestly thought it was Disney animation trying to take a Pixar property and screw it up.  It doesn't look like a Pixar film... and really doesn't interest me.

Buzz Lightyear is a toy... not some real guy.

But that said, visually, they could make some serious sci-fi stuff here.  Get rid of the silly characters and make a serious SCI-FY space movie.  I know they wouldn't want to risk their Star Wars franchise, but they could totally do it.

You think maybe this is just gonna be a movie within a movie? Like at the very end it zooms out and it turns out we're just watching a grown up Andy with his kid or something in a movie theater?

While that would be crazy, I don't think they would do that.

But if they did, you called it first!

This really looks unappealing to me.  I mean, a lot of people like Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, but I don't think anyone wanted a REAL Buzz.

They have another film coming out too.  I forgot it's name, but it's something about a girl who turns into a red creature.  It honestly doesn't look like a Pixar film either.  I am starting to think some of these are Disney animated films that Disney forces Pixar to have their name included... further watering down and making Pixar more anonymous.

Lightyear looks like it will be more mature of a film from Pixar.  Bringing the hero introduced in Toy Story back in 1996, and brining him to that same audience nearly 30 years later.

Sounds a lot like they cribbed the plot off an old Looney Tunes cartoon (or two)... of course, I said the same thing about The Boss Baby, and I actually found myself immensely enjoying, even a bit moved, by that one.  So maybe I should try to keep an open mind and not be so prepared to utterly savage this movie.
