I mean, you can't go wrong with a classic.

But I must say, I never liked the Christmas movie Elf or the live acton Grinch. I didn't think they were good.

I like binge-watching all the Christmas episodes of my favorite shows at once.  This time of year Hulu offers holiday bundles of its best and long-running programs, from Family Guy to The Simpsons to South Park, which is quite convenient because you don't have to wander like a Biblical nomad from show to show, seeking season to season. One click, and you're binging holly jolly goodness. YouTube also has blocks of Saturday-morning 'toons, from Claymation to Filmation to Super Mario for Playstation (actually, um, not really, but, feh, it rhymes.)  As we speak I've just watched two festive Eek the Cat cartoons and now am watching a Casper from 1996 as I nosh on Christmas dinner.

(The sense of the next two paragraphs is totally lost because my mouth is full of food.)

(swallows)  ...and that's why Bill Murray will never work with Lucy Liu again.    :))

The classic animated Grinch has a lot more charm than the live action Grinch. I liked some moments in the live action but I prefer enjoying an entire overall movie that is shorter than seeing something longer with some good moments.

I don’t know if Elf was based off of something, but it may be cool to see an animated adaption of Elf.

Here you go.  The movie itself wasn't particularly based on anything, although some have drawn comparisons to What About Bob?

Yes, Chuck Jones' Grinch succeeds as a pretty straightforward adaptation, being short and to the point, and without all the padding needed to stretch it to ninety minutes. It's also perhaps the best and most well-known cartoons based on a Seuss book, next to Horton Hatches The Egg and Green Eggs and Ham.

Merry Christmas! They were playing the Jim Carrey Christmas movie on NBC tonight.  Watched a bit of that.

Hope everyone had an awesome Christmas.  Any fun stories?  We watched "It's a Wonderful Life" as a family after Christmas dinner.  We had a ham!

I also watched It's a Wonderful Life--both the abridged Rifftrax version and the (colorized) original.  An unmitigated classic, even with the pivotal scene cut.

And of course I topped off my evening with a double bill of The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries--"It Happened One Night", a fun parody with a nice nod to Chuck Jones--and a second episode featuring a hunt for a missing canary and the curious case of a larcenous lutefisk-loving giant.  "D-uh, you can't fool me, 'cause I'm a moron."

I didn't have to return anything this year! I call that a win!
