I'm just don't know how much different uh...."white culture" is for lack of a better term. So it's like, I dunno how much different something is or how much the same something is. Mainly with like...flavors and what things are called and stuff. Or the different snacks and shit.

Or punishments for children. Apparently "whiter" parents don't throw sandals at their kids (La Chancla). I got belted once, but never sandal'd.

You live in America... I guess we can call it Del Norte America, since it is heavily influenced by Hispanic culture.  Even the town downtown is more Hispanic in set up then American. 

Don't you speak English though down there, Miggs?  It won't be too different, except for the fact you will have a lot of Hispanic products in stores since you have a higher population of them.

Parents punish their kids a lot differently now then when we were probably all kids.  Back in the day, I know spanking and grounding and all that stuff was still fair game.  Now days parents aren't even supposed to touch their kid.

No yeah, of course we speak English, just I dunno how different people are outside here. I'm either underestimating or overestimating the differences.

So you are from a border town?  Border town culture is much different then the rest of the US.  Just as Northern Mexico culture is much different then the rest of Mexico.  It is more Americanized.

So, apparently the reason for chancla throwing is like...it's the first thing they could get their hand on, just reach down, take off the thing and throw it at their kid.

Yeah, apparently teaching your kid a lesson with a BIT of physical force is now tabboo, but that's a whole different subject sort of thing.

Well even just nearby Houston is much different then Dallas, and Dallas is FAR different then Austin.  Texas is a diverse state with many different subcultures.

I mean, I've been to different towns. San Antonio and Austin, mostly, but like... I only do so much in the little time I'm actually in the town

Use Street View on Google Maps and check out other towns.  You can see a lot in different areas in the time being before you head out in the big world! America is a big land.
