I last posted this cover in a forum much like this exactly ten years ago today.
Things have changed phenomenally even since 2011, much less 2
001. We elected a black President (sure, the wrong
one, but, still...). America became post-modern, post-racial, post#Me Too, post-Covid, Postmates.
We've seen countless celebrity births, adoptions, deaths, divorces, falls from grace, and surprise comebacks; we've watched endless reboots, revivals, sequels, prequels,
Tiger this'es and
Cutie that'ses, a few gems, and megatons of outright bombs from Hollywood (or at least, its cheaper Northern cousin Ottowa.) They gave Andy Richter
two shows on Fox, for Chris'sakes.
A President died,
a Pope resigned, and I've had to retire both my folders of Michael Jackson and Ross Perot jokes. We legalized gay marriage in all states, pot in 19--plus a couple of U.S territories and a few Indian tribal nation--and I think a brother can even legally marry his sister in New Jersey.
Since I've drawn that issue, a lot has happened for me personally: I published several books, I became an uncle four or five times over, I've grown markedly grey, I've moved to a new city and into a new place, I've buried a
few good friends, and if I had a regret, I'd say it's that I never did try that
fifth place on Fish Street--er--I mean,
that fish place on 5th Street. And, of course, I found
this forum, and scores of
new friends. So all in all, not doing
too bad.
...Wow, Kiku's old enough to have a kid in their twenties?!
