Dustin "Screech" Diamond has died. The ex-
Saved By the Bell star had suffered career ups-and-downs for years after
SBTB, including a foray into adult films and a stint as a housemate on
Celebrity Big Brother.
Diamond had a well-publicized falling-out with his former co-stars after scathing and insulting claims surfaced in his 2009 tell-all,
Behind the Bell. He also made claims of sexual abuse from a lady network exec twice his age behind the scenes of
Saved By the Bell . Understandably, he was not invited back for the Peacock's much-hyped
SBTB reboot.
He also faced numerous financial and legal troubles, filing bankruptcy in 2001 and being arrested for allegedly stabbing a man in a bar fight in 2014. He was again charged with possession of a concealed weapon the following year, and served time for a parole violation in 2016. In an appearance on Howard Stern's TV show, Diamond asked for people to donate cash so he might recoup his losses and buy back his house, then bragged about the size of his wiener.
In the last few weeks of his life the actor had been undergoing treatment for lung cancer.
He was 44.
