(not staying) problem with comp (wanted to show numbers)
-
*whistles* :o I sure hope you'll manage to get this all fixed.
-
tell me about it my start menu wont work none of the apps will load my comp is screwed.
-
Oh uh, that sucks. Don't know what's going on.
Did you try the age old, turning it off and back on again?
-
Yes I have it but nope that didn't work I gave it to my tech he says it's clocking 600 errors a minute.
-
Geez. To think, that laptop's only two or three months old. (Heck, it's not even "old".)
-
Here how about this one.
-
...whoa. O_O
-
Uhhh... YASL!!!!!
-
Someone needs your help, YASL!!!!!
Better twice than once.
-
600 errors a minute? What caused this? Is it perhaps a virus?
Oh no, what I meant was that I don't know how to help lol.
But yeah, Yasl might be able to help?
-
If it's a virus... You got an antivirus software?
-
Its okay lol but thanks :)
-
This is her friend here. You should boot up your computer in safe mode and try to reset to your most recent backup. If you don't have a backup do a system restore.
When is your most recent backup?
-
Its okay lol but thanks :)
Wait, you fixed it?
-
No virus we checked 3 times and i have no back up the comp wont have it just says error occured and no i havent fixed it apperatly my comp is trying to work to hard as well.
-
Format & re-install.
That was always my go-to option for Windows. I used to do it at least yearly.
LP (+friend?) is 100% correct that throwing a System Restore in its face can work wonders on occasion, and is worth trying first. And also that it's worth booting in safe mode to see whether you can isolate the craziness to a particular (set of) applications. In safe mode you can try opening up msconfig and disabling all items under Startup and all non-Microsoft services under Services, restart and see if things improve. If so, you can start bisecting the list of startup items & services to work out what's causing the problem (turn half back on, test & iterate) or you can use the reprieve to make a good backup to a non-system disk, in preparation for a re-install (or even just as a matter of good practice if you don't currently have one).
Oh, also: Neither of those error logs are smoking guns. I'd also caution against stressing over Event Viewer logs -- it is a known scam opening that someone will call you up and tell you that you computer has a virus, then "prove" it by getting you to open Event Viewer and be shocked by all the "warnings" and "errors". Granted, 600/min is quite a lot for a machine that's not got heavy auditing enabled.
-
Well I don't have a restore point as system protection was off but I will try the others things thanks :)
-
Can you reinstall the computer as if it were new? Like start fresh over?
-
Yes i have i factory reset it some problems have been solved.
-
Good to hear! :D
-
I wonder what is causing the problems?
-
I'm not sure to be honest I powered it on and it just wouldn't work but now some has been fixed.
-
At least it runs now.
-
Yes it runs but I'm gonna run a hardware test.
-
Im glad it is running. Did you lose any data?
-
Well no luckily not i back it to a USB stick but I had another little problem the screen wouldn't come on but it's only £200 laptop and it's only 3 months old.
-
How many laptops have you gone through in the past few months man? A few right?
-
About 4 because of the same problems im gonna get a tower when i get the money.
-
Uhhhh... Not to sound insensitive, but that's a lot of computers to go through in such a short period of time. Is it perhaps something you are doing to the computers that is fudging them up?
I don't think a tower is going to help...
-
No I'm not doing anything to it I use it for office and music and sometimes internet.
