So where is the new content again to watch? (Specifically the new 3D cartoon) Is it really just all on Netflix?
Has anyone watched it? Is it any good?
I watched it. My opinions as spoiler free as can be are as follows.
The animation of course isn't gonna be as good as the first movie. Big budget cut and you can see it on the screen. But that doesn't matter as much to me personally. You don't need good art and a high budget to tell a good story. I've always believed that and till do. The voice work is impressive. Obviously no one from the movie returned to reprise their roles because that would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too damn expensive. Could you imagine keeping Vanessa Hudgens and James Marsden on for a full series? So many wallets would be broken. But the new voice cast is really good. The only one I think isn't better than the original is the voice of Izzy. Kimiko Glen knocked it out of the park for the movie and while this new VA did good too, I prefer Glen's voice. Then we come to the plot. Easy to follow, doesn't tangent off out of nowhere, and the writing isn't bad either. My only nitpick about it is...it's kinda predictable. And I get it. It's a kids show so of course a lot of the same morals and lessons are gonna be recycled. I'm just hoping going forward there will be new clever ways to teach them. And the plot for the series was set up quite nicely.
So yeah. That's my opinion. Not perfect but a good first step into a new series.
