^ No. Lazy!
I think this song goes without saying.
Original season 1 Pokemon theme. It has the makings of a wonderful 80s power ballad in a 90s cartoon I didn't watch!
-
Thanks MasterX. :) Yes, that is a good song, and I don't think it's just the nostalgia. Yes, the lyrics themselves are kinda lame at times, but it is a very catchy and addictive song I think most 90s kids can sing word for word.
Oh come on, LP! That cheating. :(
-
No it's not. I'm showing songs that I think are good ;P and I showed 20 without breaking the 3 video rule.
I also like the TMNT 2013 theme.
-
I always found this song catchy for some reason.
"What's New Scooby Doo."
-
Oooh, that was good.
-
And another classic in my mind is the Arthur Theme Song.
-
Can't go wrong with the bruddahs, the bruddah, the bruddas..
-
Here are mine! ;D

and of coarse My Little Pony Friendship is Magic!:

I never actually watched this but the intro was badass.
-
Lol you actually think the MLP theme song is guchi? Man, your tastes must be broad. Most fans I know, even the hardest core hate the theme song.
Another good one, the Darkwing Duck them song.
-
"Ducktales" theme.
That Super Mario theme! No! :P Lol!
-
Can't go wrong with the bruddahs, the bruddah, the bruddas..
YEAH!! I loved that! :D
-
Umeko...
Please only post a max of three videos per post you make.

Umeko. If yo read the rules of the thread. No more than THREE video links in one post. Please try to abide to the rules please? Just cut them up into sections of three and post more comments. Thank you.
If not, I'm afraid I'll cut it down. And I don't want want to have to do that.
This isn't for spamming a bunch of video links. It's also for discussion. Come on guys
-
You didn't have to remove your whole comment... Only woulda had to leave three and make a new comment...
-
The 80s and early 90s had some of the best theme songs. Yes they were campy and lame, but they had these rhythms and beats that nothing else seems to have today. A lot of shows today seem to barely put any thought into their themes.
-
Okay, how about Animaniacs? Catchy theme song and clever. It also describes the whole show so quickly.
-
Sadly the show kinda was meh, but the instrumental theme song really gets you into the adventurous spirit that the show could have had!
"The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest."
-
Very good one! Another good one was "The Adventures of TinTin" theme. Great adventurous theme song!
-
YES! :D TinTin totally fits in with the great instrumental themes! Another fairly simple, but militaristic theme song was the fun theme of "Recess." Reminded me of WWII show themes from the 60s.
-
That's another good one. But Jonny Quest and TinTin win f the three. :D
-
I would agree... I think. :) All three of those were great instrumentals.
-
If you like Ska, you might like the theme song for Pelswick (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sQBy-eYEHA).
-
That's a pretty good instrumental, but not a "best" level. ;) Another show to add to the forgotten list.
-
Anyone remember the original Teen Titans theme?
-
Of course I remember it. Lol. It wasn't that long ago.
-
Yes it was
it was like 80 years ago
That was dumb to ask, but yeah. I actually forgot about the opening tbh.
-
This show wasn't that good, but the theme song was really catchy with high school band and disco vibes. It was a weird mix that worked.
-
Oh shit I remember that.
I actually remember liking the show, tbh
-
LOL! That theme song always got me so pumped. I loved the movie, but the show's voices for Cuzco was never as good.
-
This is a good instrumental and a visually appealing intro. Make Oregon proud! "Gravity Falls!"
-
Yes, it is very catchy too.
-
So while Canada may have a lot of bad FLASH animated shows, they do have a tendency to at least put some effort and good quality into their theme songs... I welcome you to these shows. Very teen oriented themes, but still good quality songs. Canada as a lot of talented upstart bands. :)
6Teen
Stoked.
Total Drama Series theme.
-
I will give them that for sure. Those are high production values on those songs, each one of them. Better them most.
-
I'll post three theme songs, three shows that I watched and grew inspired by, watching these growing up, it laid down the foundation for my artistic journey, it started with these three.
I've choosen the second season intro cause... that guitar I tell you!
Once I was done at school as a kid I'd RUN home to do my homework before Swat Katz would start on Cartoon Network!
The intro draws you in, keeps you going and gets you pumped up for the show!
I remember I saw this while I was doing a "Try this job out" thing in school, I was trying out what it'd be like to work as a daycare teacher.
So one day they had a watch a movie friday, a kid had brought this VHS tape and I was introduced to this!
I wanted to see more so I bought some vhs tapes *Biker Mice didn't air in Sweden I think, I must have missed it if it did, cause I don't remember seeing it on tv*
Unlike Biker Mice and Swat Katz that I saw in the mid 90s.
I started watching TMNT when I was like 4-5.
I remember when I heard them coming on TV, that theme song had me jumping up and down in my sofa.
I grew up with this intro it's still the better version in my opinion, maybe cause I didn't hear the original version until later on and when I did, I thought it didn't sound "right"
TMNT was the first *anthro* show I watched and I remember drawing nothing but TMNT for the longest time.
Enjoy three golden pieces of my childhood that made me want to be an artist and have this kind of style in my art.
-

They spend their whole budget on the song XP
-
Yep, the older shows had the best songs. :) Maybe just because it was 80s music that it rocked hard. ;)
Also the Jonny Quest and Tintin themes are great instrumentals.

I absolutely LOVE the intro for The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest!
And the show was AMAZING :D
Yeah 80s and 90s shows had the best intros
-
^ I know, that theme was excellent. It was terrific and had so much suspense and action in it as it rose to the pinnacle of the song. It was deep too, with just adventure at every part of it. Great song, and a good intro.
My biggest issue with the show itself is when they did the CGI scenes. I wish it was just all hand drawn animation.
-
So far, I am liking the Jonny Quest theme the most here. I had forgotten how impactful that theme song was. Probably the best instrumental yet. I would say Tintin comes in second for right now, because it still has that movie magic sound to it, just not as powerful.
-
I also enjoyed your backstory on the videos you posted, Umeko. I did the same thing with SWAT Katz. I also raced home to at least see the theme song, lol.

CGI was still a new thing back then, so for the time it wasn't so bad, but it looks pretty sloppy, but technology has gone much further now.
-
This is a fun topic. I like seeing what people enjoy for their theme songs. :)
-
The best cartoon theme song, according to me is...
The Adventures of Tintin, which has been mentioned a few times in here. I grew up with it, and I think it's one of the best theme songs, and it is one of the most remembered (at least in French-speaking areas). :)
-

There are a few more that was a big inspiration for me.
Like this one, it's probably one of the forgotten shows, I loved it, I saw it in the late 90s early 00s
I just LOVE the intro! Cause I mean listen to the music!
The other shows that inpired me were all anime I'll post them in the Anime corner
-
^ Wow! Totally a forgotten show! I never watched it, but I remember seeing it on tv when I was young.
The enthusiasm these singers had back in the day, and the heavy rock, lol. ;D
-
I wouldn't say it is the best theme, but it isn't bad. ;D Ha ha! I do love the much effort they put into themes in the day.

Absolutely wonderful theme. I couldn't believe the new Tintin movie that came out a few years back didn't use that theme and make it all orchestral and crazy awesome.
-
Would Kim Possible count as a GOOD theme song?
They put time and effort in the music.
-
I would put it in the "good" category, even if I don't care for that genre. The song song fits the show and explains enough to get you interested. It also spawned the famous KP jingle everyone knows and the one some people use on their phones today as an alert or ringtone.

Yeah! They surely knew how to get people excited for the show! The show itself is interesting I liked it.
Dinosaurs, Mechs, Anthros those were big themes back then.
I still like the style of the 80s and 90s more, they had more detail and it showed people spent so much time on each episode.
Then again a lot of animated shows back then were made in Japan, heavily anime influenced.
Just need to look at the style, the details are there.
-
Today the "hip" thing is simplicity in design. Look at Adventure Time, Regular Show, We Bare Bears. In some cases, you could flip backgrounds on these shows and not even be able to tell they are out of place!
I will give credit to the fluidity of animation today. I am picturing those old shows with the same smoothness shown today in some shows. Would be awesome. Kinda wish that new "Thundercats" show would have continued.

That might be because it wasn't the theme for Tintin himself. It was the theme for the 1991 Nelvana-produced cartoon we all know, but not for Tintin himself and the original comic books. It would've been pretty complicated for the makers of the 2011 movie to use it.
-
I know they would have had to get rights... but being that it was Spielberg and their mass of money... I would bet Nelvana would have given the rights to that song to them. It just fits so perfectly.
-
Tintin's theme is excellent. I loved the adventure it evokes. I am listening to it on loop and it is such a great song. Would love to see this series brought back as a cartoon someday.
-
I love that Tintin theme! What a cool song! :D What channel was this show on in the States?
-
Wikipedia says: "In the United States, the series originally aired on HBO with reruns subsequently aired on Nickelodeon." ;)
-

It was actually Ellipse, a studio in France. Nelvana had nothing to do with it other then distribition. At last check the theme song used in that show was owned by UNIVERSAL who in turn is owned by Comcast.
-
Yeah, I knew it was Ellipse and Nelvana, I forgot which was which. ^^'
-
Thank you. No wonder I didn't see it if it was on HBO to start.
-
This topic is not for songs within a series, but for theme songs specifically. :) Just making that known sense we have a new topic up that might cause confusion. :)
-
It does say it in the title ;)
-
The theme song to Doug is pretty annoyingly catchy. xD
-
His dog is named Porkchop! :D
-
And good ol' Skeeter!

The one that I remember the most out of my childhood was this one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFXTa2yeYWs I wouldn't call it the best but it is one I still enjoy a lot =)
I think the one that is the best one from a show I have personally seen is this one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAkL2-vh2Sk
A theme song I think has a ton of unnecessary energy is a theme song about gummy bears...yeah like the snack XD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HCjQbKowUo
(There's links others have made here that are amazing :D I love Umeko's Swat Kats and Master's Pokemon choices. )
-
oh yeah don't forget tazz (http://pre08.deviantart.net/ed35/th/pre/i/2017/167/8/8/cometotazzmania_by_bestheelofalltime-dbcxzrs.png)

I think we need to make a "Worst Cartoon Theme Songs" topic.
We have one.
-
I forgot that Taz-mania show existed. Now that I have heard the theme song and the way the guys sings like an Aussie, I totally remember it. I don't remember a single episode, but I remember it exists.
