So the big news recently is the announcement of the continuation of the popular TEST DRIVE UNLIMITED series.

Based on the name and what we see, I am thinking it will take place in the Middle east, possibly Dubai and a portion of the United Arab Emirates. Maybe Saudi Arabia...

New Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Trailer Promises More Information This Summer
Article (https://www.gameinformer.com/2021/04/21/new-test-drive-unlimited-solar-crown-trailer-promises-more-information-this-summer)

Last summer, developer KT Games as Nacon announced Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, the third entry in the long-dormant racing series. In case you’ve forgotten all about it, or if this is your first time hearing about the series’ revival, a new cinematic trailer helps set the mood for the game while also promising when we’ll learn more about it.

The short but flashy video shows some high-stakes gambling that escalates to a head-to-head race. As the title suggests, the game signals the return of Solar Crown international racing championship from Test Drive Unlimited 2’s story. We still don’t know much about the title other than its description saying it will feature, according to its press release, “dream cars, customization, avatars, competition, open world, casino and style.” We do know that we’ll learn more information sometime this July.

The first Test Drive Unlimited launched in 2007 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC and was noteworthy for its free-roam approach to racing (not unlike the Forza Horizon series) and near-accurate recreation of the Hawaiian island, Oahu. It was followed by Test Drive Unlimited 2 in 2011 which added the Spanish island Ibiza alongside Oahu as well as a more fleshed out narrative. We enjoyed the sequel quite a bit at the time, scoring it an 8.5 out of 10 in our review, which you can read here.

We still don't have a launch window for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, but it's slated for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

Sadly this was expected...

Sony Confirms Gran Turismo 7 Is Delayed to 2022

Gran Turismo 7 is one of the biggest game releases of the year, and it’s not a secret many people delay buying a PlayStation 5 just to get a bundle when this new title is finally live.

Until now, we’ve been getting all kinds of mixed signals regarding the release date of Gran Turismo 7, with some sources claiming the game would launch in the first half of the year, while others indicated the whole thing would happen in Q3 or Q4.

Unfortunately, it looks like Gran Turismo 7 won’t actually be released in 2021 at all, as Sony has decided to push back the launch to 2022.

Sony didn’t say whether GT7 is projected to launch in the first or the second half of the next year, so it’s all becoming a waiting game that doesn’t seem to come to an end.

While Sony itself has probably been aware of these production problems, that didn’t stop it from teasing Gran Turismo 7 and dropping little tidbits that caused the excitement to go through the roof. Earlier this year, for example, Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi announced a return back to the roots for Gran Turismo 7.

“I think I was able to make a fairly ambitious prospect at Gran Turismo Sports. So at Gran Turismo 7, we're going to go back to the royal spirit of full volume, like 1 or 4, while inheriting elements such as the championships we've achieved in sport, and we're going to give you the best Gran Turismo experience of the moment. So if you know the old Gran Turismo, I think it smells a little nostalgic,” he said.

Wreckfest is a gem of a game for those who haven't played it.  If you enjoyed the games Dirt to Daytona and Test Drive: Eve of Destruction, this game is as close you will get to that currently.  It's a good game.

Not really racing... but it's an auto soccer game.

NASCAR is coming to Rocket League.

Rocket League also signed with F1.  So both NASCAR and F1 will be in the game as modeled vehicles! That will be fun.  NASCAR is coming out first featuring many high profile teams and drivers.  I am sure it will be no different with F1 having many teams and drivers featured.

Surprise announcement by Monster Games.  A new racing league called SRX is in the work by many NASCAR heroes and legends.  It is a racing league that will race on dirt and pavement, and feature drivers from racing leagues around the world!  Monster Games announced a new game just a few days ago and it released on 5/28/2021.  Very fast window!  Oh, and the game comes default with over 50 racing tracks located all across the US.  Now that's impressive!

^ Oh sweet!  Good for SRX!!!  I will definitely look into this game, maybe buy it right away depending on price.  I assume they will list it at $29.99.  50 tracks?!  WOW!!!  I wonder which ones they have!  Thats awesome!

Agreed, Wreckfest is an amazing game, and it is made by the same developer team responsible for the FlatOut game series, granted they only developed the first few games in the series. FlatOut, FlatOut 2, and FlatOut Ultimate Carnage. Definitely worth picking up if you want an older arcade destruction derby style racing game with ragdoll physics.
They even have mini games where your goal is to jettison the driver out of the car to score points; doing things like long jumps, stone skipping, darts, bowling, and more.
Title: Re: Racing Game Topic Discussion
Post by: Silverwing on 2021-05-27 17:53:39
I like Wreckfest too!  I haven't played it since last year, but I really enjoyed the game.

I used to play Flat-out, but before that I played Destruction Derby and DD2. My favorite game in this vein was test Drive: Eve of Destruction.  If you've never played the game, you guys should.  It is pure carnage with a killer soundtrack (At the time).  This game was really under the radar. I would say it is still better than Wreckfest.  So many game types including SOCCER CARS and racing big school buses, tug of war with cars, trying to get away from other drivers in an arena.  It was the ultimate game no one knew about.

Down under everyone likes V8 Supercars.  Why are their no V8 Supercar games?  NASCAR and V8 Supercars are joined at the hip in that they are overpowered race cars.  Aussies and American's love their powerful V8 blocks.

I would be real curious to see V8 Supercars race an oval like Daytona.
Title: Re: Racing Game Topic Discussion
Post by: Wolfwood on 2021-05-28 21:50:03
Oh hey, Kiwi!  There were some V8 Supercar racing games in the past.  The biggest were the TOCA series of games.  Now days there isn't much.  iRacing might?  You can mod NASCAR Racing 2003 to do them and people still update the cars (super dedicated community for that game which can do EVERYTHING).
Title: Re: Racing Game Topic Discussion

Oh wow, TOCA is an old game, but a really good racing game.  It sadly only lasted two renditions before becoming the GRID series.

Man, I miss those old PS2 era racing games.  They were bomb.

I understand how you feel, there were a lot of different racing games from that console generation that I love. Test Drive, Flat Out, Need For Speed Underground 1 and 2, Need For Speed Most Wanted, Nascar, Colin McRae Rally, and the list just keeps going. I owned mostly racing games on my PlayStation 1 and 2.

There aren't as many arcade racing games being released now, now everything is focused on multiplayer games and games that can be bloated with DLC and other addictive money making schemes.
Title: Re: Racing Game Topic Discussion
Post by: Wolfwood on 2021-05-30 14:06:19
NFS Most Wanted was AWESOME.  I spent so much time racing against the police.  The game I still think has the best feeling of urgency and action of any game.  They also had the BEST police chatter! I swear it never got old, was so varied, and seemed always unique.

I also owned pretty much every racing game on the PS2 and a lot on the PS1.  It varied from arcade, to simulation.

All these multiplayer focused racing games, while good in their own merits, just aren't my cup of tea.

Gran Turismo 7 Could Launch on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 (This is opposite of what was said before)

Article (https://www.gtplanet.net/gt7-ps4-crossgen-20210602/)

According to a post today on the PlayStation Blog, there’s a chance that Gran Turismo 7 might be a cross-generational PlayStation game, running on both PS4 and PS5 consoles.

The blog post isn’t about Gran Turismo specifically, but consists of an interview with Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios. PlayStation Studios is the arm of Sony which manages the various development teams that create the “first-party” games, including Polyphony Digital and Gran Turismo.

In the post, Hulst talks about the challenges of recent months, and some of the titles in development across both current console generations. However there’s a specific question about PlayStation 4 which very much catches the eye:

The messaging behind Gran Turismo 7‘s development has been a little mixed over the past year, variously described as being developed for PlayStation and for PlayStation 5 specifically at different points. This comment from Hulst certainly seems to hint back towards the former situation.

However it’s still difficult to draw a definitive conclusion from the rather carefully chosen words. Hulst only remarks that PlayStation Studios will “continue looking at” developing individual titles for both console generations “where it makes sense to” do so, rather than outright confirming Gran Turismo 7 as a PS4 and PS5 title. Horizon Forbidden West is already confirmed as a cross-gen game, while the God of War sequel’s situation is very similar to GT7 — having also been pushed back to 2022.

In some respects, the idea of GT7 as a cross-gen game has plenty of merit. With PS5 sales still limited by availability, an established playerbase of 110 million consoles looks pretty attractive when it comes to selling games.

Fans will nonetheless be concerned that the game will need to be effectively the same on both consoles, with only PlayStation 5 “enhancements” to make it look nicer and load faster on the new console. That could limit how Polyphony Digital could leverage the PS5’s capabilities.

All this talk of racing and driving, makes me want to invest in a racing wheel again. lol. Along with a proper stand to set it up. Anybody here have a racing wheel? What's a good one to get at a fair price? Should I aim for a three pedal with gear shift knob racing wheel or two pedals and paddle shifters racing wheel? I know this is a bit off topic. lol.

If I get a racing wheel, what are some good racing games to go along with it.

I used to have a racing wheel way back in the days of PS1 but I didn't personally like it.  I just prefer a controller.  So I am not sure what would be good.

It used to be Logitech wheels and Fanatec.

I used to have a Logitech wheel but it just wasn't my thing.  It also took up too much space and was a hassle to set up each time I wanted to use it.  I got rid of it.

So I have no idea what is a good wheel anymore. :D  Good luck!

@Captain Ridiculous and @MasterXtreme , thanks for responding. I'm trying to decide between a Logitech wheel and a thrustmaster wheel, they both have their pros and cons. Logitech is better quality on the low end, thrustmaster has a better upgrade path with the pedals and shifter being compatible with all of their race wheels.

It'll probably be a while before I grab one, just looking for another opinion.

I've heard good things about love the Logitech as being a bang for your buck and the Thrustmaster.  It depends how seriously you want to do this.  They will both give you the same result.

The top three wheels I hear the most are Logitech, Fanatec, and Thrustmaster.  Doesn't mean they are the best, there could be a hidden gem, but they are the ones thrown around the most.
Title: Re: Racing Game Topic Discussion
Post by: timmelon on 2021-06-07 23:56:54
If you want a shifter, the Thrustmaster one is a great investment — Logitech’s shifter contains too much plastic (but is four times cheaper ;D), so it’s a pretty common choice to buy Logitech G29 wheel and TH8a shifter. Fanatec products are made mostly for fans (typical Fanatec user room looks like that (https://i.piccy.info/i9/186fd047b8f9522e57924bb1599af38a/1623135296/188893/1432268/Room.jpg) ;D) and they can be a bit expensive for more casual gamers.

My G27 is still a pretty popular model, although I don’t like how most of the buttons are located on shifter’s base. G29 has all of them on the wheel, so if my current wheel will follow my previous video card , I will buy the setup I mentioned.

I'm looking at that as well, wheel will depend on availability when. I'm ready to pull the trigger. Because both options have pros and cons, the thrustmaster shifter being a standalone item that works with any brand wheel is nice, the Logitech shifter looks cheap and something I would probably break in the heat of the moment.

That's probably what I will do @Silverwing , just depends on the pricing and availability when I'm ready to pull the trigger. It'll probably be a few months before that happens.

Pacer is a futuristic combat racer, it's similar to the wipeout game series.

It fooled everyone... and everyone is pretty disappointed in the location.  Just a money grab for to appease the Chinese market?  Maybe?  Everyone really hoped for a tropical island.  Especially Tenerife. Hong Kong Island doesn't fit the Test Drive Unlimited lifestyle.

We have some exciting news from Motorsport Games.

They have some teaser shots on their still un-named new NASCAR game which will be their very first.  It has a whole new engine, new design, and no longer part of the NASCAR Heat series made by Monster Games.

They also announced a INDY CAR Racing game will be coming.  The first such game for the series to come out since 2004.  So this is exciting news on both fronts!!!

A NEW INDY GAME?!  It's been so many years!  I would love that.

Also I find it kind of nice they chose one of the smallest, lowest performing, NASCAR teams as the promo art for their tease.  It gives some attention to the teams  that try really hard and struggle just to be there.  The graphics are a big improvement to so far.

A more back to basics push to compete with Codemaster's F1 racing series.

NASCAR 21: Ignition rids of the NASCAR Truck and Xfinity Series and focuses purely on the top tier Cup Series.  It has a new game engine and has been built from the ground up (hence the less content this first time around).  It is focused on simulation racing this time.  There is no mention of the word arcade in the promo material.

Trailer launched a few hours ago with pre-orders starting tomorrow, August 12th.

Game comes out October 2021.

^ I can say some of it looks better, but other parts don't. I think it's because they used different clips from different stages of development.  The human placeholders look awful (their faces).

It's a shame to loose the Truck Series and Xfinity Series and only focus on Cup, so I hope in future installments they bring the other leagues back.

Forza Horizon 5 in Mexico for some reason really doesn't interest me.  I know the landscape will be somewhat varied... but overall it will be desert and I find deserts very boring.  There is so little to do in them.

As well, the info on the new Test Drive: Solar Crown game really doesn't excite... like at all.  Hong Kong is not a fun playground and it has been tried in many games before.  I've never personally enjoyed it.  I can think of Midnight Club and Sleeping Dogs.  Neither had a good Hong Kong.

I have to agree on both accounts.  Hong Kong Island is so limited and I would have much preferred a more open roads, location.  Not a location that is densely built up.  They end up just making every street corner look the same.

And for Forza, yeah, Mexico would not be my first choice... but then again, neither would England have been.

Gran Turismo 7 Tops Amazon Sales Charts in USA and Japan in Pre Orders
Article (https://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-7-tops-amazon-sales-20210928/)

It’s only been a week since Gran Turismo 7 became available to pre-order worldwide, and already the title is topping sales charts — and in some cases selling out entirely.

According to charts published by multi-purpose online retailer Amazon, the various versions of Gran Turismo 7 are firmly entrenched in the top of the PlayStation 5 video game best seller lists.

Amazon’s Japanese store has four flavors of GT7 all sitting in the top ten best-selling games, with both the regular and 25th Anniversary Editions, with and without special Amazon.co.jp pre-order gifts on the list.

Every time I see Gran Turismo, I think, how can they possible improve the graphics?  I've been saying this since like the days of the PS2. ;D

There has to be a point where they can't keep improving.  Everything will hit a point it looks great and can't advance!  I keep telling myself that!

Only ones that really interest me on that list as NASCAR 21 and Forza Horizon 5.  Haven't heard of Taxi Chaos.  I used to love Crazy Taxi, but could only play it in small doses.  If this game is good, and cheap, I might pick that up too.

Some early copies of NASCAR 21: Ignition have been given to influencers and the game is getting a beating unfortunately.  I don't want to see that.  I want Motorsports Games to be great at making games to true enthusiasts of these sports. They say the foundation of the game is sound, but it is loaded with bugs and glitches.

Hot wheels Unleashed is surprisingly good, campaign races start off quick and simple, giving you time to get accustomed to the game and controls. The difficulty will ramp up as courses get larger and more chaotic. It's a polished arcade racing game, all the cars feel unique. Boost is earned passively or by drifting. Fast cars tend to have less boost while slower cars have more boost. It even lets you design your own course, with a very detailed track editor. Car customization is limited to paint color and type and liveries. My only critique is the way cars are unlocked, unlocked via blind box or loot box.

It is a game I will purchase when it goes on sale.  Another niggle is the lack of tracks, though I realize there is a track editor.  It was a solid game and a nice surprise. :)

Many reviewers are called Forza Horizon 5 the best Forza game of all time. Some are calling it the best racer ever besides Gran Turismo.  It's hard to compare the two, since one is arcade and the other is simulation.

Those of you into BeamNG, the game has really been updating lately.  They got a new American muscle car added into the mix with a mix of a lot of American cars.  They have a trim called the RedTail which is clearly a reference to the Demon or Hellcat on the Dodge Charger as well.  Check out the new car!

iRacing buys Monster Games, teases racing games for the ‘broader market’ like consoles

iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations says it has acquired Monster Games, Inc. (MGI). That Minnesota-based studio developed the first four games under the NASCAR Heat brand and its most recent title, SRX: The Game, for play on PC and the PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

A press release announcing the purchase is careful to note, “The iRacing development team will remain 100% focused on continuing to develop the core product, iRacing.” But Monster Games’ experience making console games is clearly a part of the plans going forward, as the release also says this deal will “further the company’s ability to bring the highest quality racing games to the broader market, including the console space.”

Pumped up by its subscriber growth, iRacing also recently acquired Orontes Games, which had already developed a proprietary game engine to power the high-res graphics and advanced physics for its Drag racing game that’s available via Steam Early Access.

Rich Garcia, CEO of Monster Games, has a history with iRacing CEO Dave Kaemmer from the early days of Kaemmer’s previous company, Papyrus, working on well-regarded PC racing games. The plan is for MGI to release an unannounced title in development later this year and then develop games using the resources of all three studios.

More information on what’s next is promised “in the coming year.” Still, a quote from Kaemmer gives a strong hint about what we should expect, “We are at a point as a company that we are comfortable building out these two new teams to explore the broader racing game market to ultimately funnel serious sim racers to our flagship product iRacing on the PC. Rich and the Monster team will be an important part of that strategy as we use our code and experience to bring their games to another level.”

An iRacing port for the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X seems unlikely, based on that statement, but bringing its ultra-realistic data to racing games built for play on consoles, as well as continued tech upgrades for the flagship title, appears to be a safe bet.

Article (https://www.theverge.com/2022/1/6/22870743/iracing-pc-racing-sim-nascar-f1-ps5-xbox-monster-games)

Below is the official press release by iRacing and Monster Games.

Chelmsford, MA – January 4, 2022 – iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations (iRacing) announced today the acquisition of Monster Games, Inc (MGI). The Minnesota-based game development studio has a long history of racing game development, including the NASCAR Heat franchise and more recently Tony Stewart’s Sprint Car Racing game. The acquisition will bring another level of expertise under the iRacing roof, and further the company’s ability to bring the highest quality racing games to the broader market, including the console space.

This acquisition along with the previously announced Orontes Games purchase are standalone development studios and projects. The iRacing development team will remain 100% focused on continuing to develop the core product, iRacing. The iRacing platform is regarded as the most realistic and leading PC-based racing simulation on the market and features multiple forms of racing including – NASCAR, Dirt Oval, sports cars, open-wheel single-seaters, prototypes, off-road trucks and rallycross. In addition to its laser scanned tracks and officially licensed vehicles, iRacing provides a one-stop-shop for sim racers and race gamers – fostering a racing community with official races, multiple racing licenses and matchmaking, private leagues and more.

President and owner of MGI, Rich Garcia, will join the iRacing development team and be reunited with iRacing CEO & CTO Dave Kaemmer, who worked together at Kaemmer’s former company, Papyrus Racing Games, where Garcia was instrumental in the early years of Papyrus in building the foundation for what iRacing has become today.

Garcia and his team will continue development on their currently unannounced project, with the aim to release the title later in 2022. Follow up titles from MGI will be developed using technology and content from the shared resources of all three development studios – iRacing announced last month the acquisition of Orontes Games, see announcement here.

“We are really pleased to be able to share this news, it’s been in the works for some time now,” said iRacing president Tony Gardner. “Rich and his team are a proven studio with unique skills that will really add to our already fantastic team here at iRacing. We’ll be able to add a lot to MGI’s products as well in the long run, to include assets, graphics, technologies and physics. We see a tremendous amount of synergies that we can take advantage of between the studios,” Gardner continued. “That being said, our core strategy, values and culture will remain intact – to build the most realistic and best racing games possible.”

“Rich and I worked together for many years at Papyrus, with great success,” added Kaemmer. “We are at a point as a company that we are comfortable building out these two new teams to explore the broader racing game market to ultimately funnel serious sim racers to our flagship product iRacing on the PC. Rich and the Monster team will be an important part of that strategy as we use our code and experience to bring their games to another level. I am very excited to be working with Rich again, as well as the extremely talented team at Monster Games.”

“I’m really excited for the future of Monster Games and iRacing,” said Garcia. “To be working with my longtime friend and colleague Dave once again is awesome. Our studios will really complement each other’s and I fully expect to see positive impacts on both products. To now have tools and resources, and quite frankly time, to build these games and to do it with the leading racing simulation company in the marketplace is beyond exciting for me.  I can’t wait to get started!”

Just as with the recently announced acquisition of Orontes Games by iRacing, combining forces with Monster Games enhances iRacing capabilities and will allow iRacing to grow further in the racing and gaming spaces. The core product, iRacing, will benefit in both the short and long term and remains the focus.

We look forward to sharing more information on the direction of these studios and the products they will work on in the coming year.

Yeah, new Gran Turismo is pretty good, the gameplay is solid. I'm not a fan of the roulette style prize wheel, reminds me of loot crates. I'm not a fan of being able to buy in game currency with real money. These are features that aren't going to go away anytime soon, this is the gaming landscape now. Every game needs that type of game mechanic. lol.

These things aren't deal breakers as of right now because the game is very playable without those mentioned game mechanics. I just hope it stays that way.
Title: Re: Racing Game Topic Discussion
Post by: RainySunshine on 2022-03-23 16:06:21
Agreed. I don't like those things, but I don't look at them so I guess it shouldn't bother me.  I just grind away at races for money like I used to do.  Roulette wheels is inescapable though.

It is completely playable without ever having to look at the GT shop to purchase things with real money.  So that is good.

I haven't played a proper nascar game in years, like PS2 or PS3. I hear they're not as good now. That doesn't surprise me.

The best were still NASCAR Thunder from between 2002 and 2005. If you had a PC back in the day, or still do today, the very best still is NASCAR Racing 2003.  You can simply mod that game to current standards and it's fantastic.  Huge community and websites still making hundreds of mods and new models weekly.  Another good one was Dirt too Daytona.

Most are okay now.  Not as many features, but still good-enough to get your NASCAR fix. NASCAR Heat 4 and 5 are considered pretty good and are the most recent other than NASCAR Ignition 21.  Don't get that because it's a mess, though visually stunning.  Other low rated ones are NASCAR 2015, and NASCAR 2007-2009 when EA stopped caring and didn't even try.  They didn't even model different car manufacturers anymore.  Just a generic car with different liveries.  That was horrible.

I hope it's good.  I wonder what the studio will work on next?  The WRC games are solid, but never the absolute best.  They don't have the money to do what some other studios could do.  Codemasters taking over has promise since their DiRT games are so great, but their new overlords of EA has me worried somewhat.

Codemasters first game under the control of EA has been released, F1 22.  The F1 games have historically received good to great reviews.  This game is getting mixed reviews. The main issue seems to be bugs, crashes, and other technical gremlins.

It really looks like most are overreacting though.  Many say there have been improvements to the driving.

I own both F1 20 and F1 21.  I recently started playing F1 20 and it's pretty difficult. I probably need to mess around with the settings more, I have no assists on except balance control.  I was battle for last place the entire race. ;D  I'm not precise enough I guess yet.

Being that F1 22 is fairly divisive this year... I'm not gonna get too excited about the Manager one.  It's been an up and down year for major racing leagues having bad games.

New game trying to evoke vibes of Burnout and some Need For Speed.  Some original creators of Burnout working on this game, but it still looks lacking.

EA has been squandering the Need For Speed franchise for so long, and it's too bad.  This new Need For Speed: Unbound does absolutely NOTHING to excite me.  Done before, seen it a million times. :-\

I mean the visuals are neat and all, but it's so gonna age itself.  This cartoony style from Fortnite, Spider Man, that reboot Saints Row, that Far Cry DLC thing... It's just getting old.

Looks like NFS not knowing what to do again.

How hard is it for them to go back to basics and just do Hot Pursuit games?

I think it's time to rest NFS games and bring back Burnout... but don't change Burnout.  Do it like how it used to be done. Arcade, wrecking, fun.

Or Porsche Unleashed ;D.

There were a lot of models skipped in the original game — no 917 (!) and useless 550 Spyder instead of great 906, for example ;D.

I wasn't a big fan of Porsche Unleashed at the time because it was all Porsche's.  I wanted to drive more variety of brands.  So I liked the games that came after and the very first NFS game on the PS1.  I also wasn't a fan of NFS II.

^ Same.  I liked the first game, I think it was the first game I ever played on the PS1.  I didn't buy two or Porsche Unleashed on the PC.  But I did Buy NFS III Hot Pursuit.  That was the hot thing at the time.  Everyone at school talked about it.  I bought NFS High Stakes too, which was good, but more realistic.

In typical EA fashion.... EA buys Slightly Mad Studios known for their Project Cars games.  Well, EA has broken the team apart and removed Project Cars and Project Cars 2 from Steam.  >:(  Why not just keep the games there?  They were really good and now a talented team is all over EA's various studios.

I didn't hear about that.  I own both but have only played the first one and I have a lot of time into it.  I really enjoy it and probably should try out the second game.  I just need to download it.   It's unfortunate companies pull their games.

I may have just made a dumb purchase.... maybe two.

One of the worst rated major racing games NASCAR Ignition 21 is now in my Steam inventory being downloaded.  lol.  I want to see if it's as bad as everyone says.  People say it's good racing and graphics, but the game is so broken and it crashes.

I also have heard about this long forgotten game called, Crash Time... and it's a whole series.  I bought Crash Time III for $1 USD on Steam, lol! Hope it's fun!

And now THE CREW: MOTORFEST has revealed.  Heading back to Hawaii (Like Test Drive Unlimited, since this team is mostly people from that) and the game is looking better than ever. Looks more like Forza Horizon than ever too, especially 3. Available on September 14, 2023.  While not shown in the video, boats and planes supposedly return and you will be able to import your progress and vehicles from the The Crew 2 into the game (Supposedly).

Get ready for Motorfest! On September 14th, drive the widest collection of vehicles ever seen in The Crew franchise, and explore the beautiful island of O'ahu, Hawaii. Dive into different car culture universes and complete new challenges on your own, with or against your friends. Get your hands on the most iconic cars ever designed: from vintage classics to electric supercars or the brand-new Lamborghini Revuelto, your dream vehicle awaits in The Crew Motorfest. See you on the road!

The Crew has always just existed alongside others, but capturing some nostalgia and grabbing aspects of what makes others popular might be what they need.  An updated car roster is certainly a good start as is a Hawaiian location.

EA's first licensed Rally game with Codemaster's under their umbrella.

Overall a step back in virtually every single way.  Worse environment, graphics, depth.  The driving based off their old system's are still great. So what is going to happen to Codemaster's now?  What is going to happen to this game?  Will it sell well?  It's okay, average, but not a great game like the old DIRT games by Codemaster's when they were their own studio.

It's getting mixed to good reviews.  It's hard to know without really playing it, but I don't want to throw down that kind of change just yet.  Visually the graphics are worse, but the stages are longer, though the world is more bland.... Ugh.  So much up and down.

Our fears came true to online games.  Here is another example.  They are NOT making an offline version.  People have worried this for years.

The Crew Is Delisted, Servers Shutting Down At The End of March 2024

Ubisoft has delisted The Crew from all digital storefronts. Additionally, the online servers will be shut down on March 31, 2024.

On the Steam page for The Crew, Ubisoft left a message about the game's delisting. "The Crew is no longer available on the Steam store," the notice said. "All editions and additional content for The Crew are no longer available for purchase. The game will remain playable until March 31st, 2024, for all The Crew owners. After this date, the game servers will shut down, which means the game will not be accessible anymore."

If you go to the game's respective PSN page, it simply shows an error message. While you cannot purchase the game digitally on the Microsoft Store anymore, you can still seemingly play it through Ubisoft+ on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Since The Crew requires an always-online connection, once the servers go offline, the game will be completely unplayable, including its single-player campaign.

Currently, The Crew 2 remains unaffected and is still available on all digital storefronts. The latest entry in the franchise, The Crew Motorfest, was released back in September. Motorfest received significantly higher review scores than the original game or its sequel.

Ubisoft has done the unthinkable officially now.  THE CREW is gone from everyone's accounts whether you bought it online had a CD copy for a gaming system.  It no longer works for everyone, effectively making the game lost media.  They have shown YOU DO NOT own the game you purchased.  People are ANGRY.

Ubisoft is reportedly removing The Crew from buyers' accounts following the server shutdown last month... (https://www.thegamer.com/the-crew-revoked-from-ubisoft-connect-accounts-after-servers-shut-down/)

Ubisoft is deleting The Crew from players' libraries, reminding us we own nothing (https://www.yahoo.com/news/ubisoft-is-deleting-the-crew-from-players-libraries-reminding-us-we-own-nothing-165328083.html)...
