Anyone hear or feel sonic booms in New Jersey / New York area?  It was reported on the news, and said as many as eight were felt and heard as it shook homes.  It just happened, so no one knows what it is.  I know we got a lot of members from this area.  Did anyone notice or feel them?

EDIT: It has now been heard as far south as Charleston, SC.

Updated some news sources just appeared.

Yahoo News

FOX 5 NY

ABC 7 New York

WYFF 4 Charleston

There is a whether phenomenon called, "Frost Booms."  But to have as many as eight in a row, that is weird.  According to the articles, the Army says it wasn't them either.

It would be real interesting if someone here heard them or felt them.

It happened over the town of, Hammonton, New Jersey.

Isn't there coal mining out there?  Could it be blasts from that?

Not the case.  Those blasts would appear on the USGS tremor charts, yes, but they wouldn't be "sonic booms" that shake everything from NYC to SC.

There are plenty of quarries, they do use explosions and stuff. But I suppose it can't be that for the reasons MasterX stated above ^

I would think the people around there would be used to the "typical" explosion.  So this is weird.  I guess we can only hope the media actually follows up on this instead of dropping it after a 12 hours news cycle.

This article from NBC 5 in New York is hardly reassuring.

News Source

They just assure us that it was sonic booms.... but doesn't explain why.  What kind of spin is this?

I guess time will tell if it was a warning sign of something bigger and worse.

Lets instead talk about something far more pressing, The Ring of Fire and when it will blast and let loose all fury along the west coast.  Oh... right, this is a topic about the east coast.
