I'd be perfectly fine with barriers put up to keep heavy equipment from running rampant through pedestrian areas.  As for Orlando, my questions lean more toward what kind of protection is all the NSA funding getting us.

Turkey's Military Attempts a Coup.  We are still waiting to know if it was successful.  We don't know if it is a good thing or not yet, and since Turkey is a NATO member, this is really interesting.  NATO doesn't protect a nation from itself, just foreign attackers.  Who do we side with?  The Turkish government or the military?  The military has stated they want to restore Democracy in Turkey, as they feel that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has become too radical, which may be true.  In recent months he has clamped down on the freedom of media, increased human rights abuses, and much more.  So only time will tell with this one.  Our Obama Administration had no prior knowledge to this coup, which is also a bit worrisome about our current intelligence.  Warplanes flew over the Turkish capital and tanks surrounded the Parliament.

This is crazy.  I wonder if the military has the support of the people.

The Turkish Military has shown in the past before, that they feel they have the authority to take control when things start to go sour, and I think the Turkish Army is doing that again here.  The last time they did this was in the 90s if I remember right.  So we will see.

Well this could be telling.  Turkey's state television is back online.  I can't understand what is being said, but something about not being told what to say by the military anymore.

Hmmmm.  This is shocking news because of the importance Turkey has, especially in location.

Turkey's formation was meant to be based on Western style governments.  The founder(s) did not want it to be an Islamic state, or run by religion.  They wanted it to be secular.  So I am really curious what will happen.  Syria's leader is probably thrilled by this vulnerability in Turkey.  They dislike each other, a lot.

Take this with a grain of salt, but this just based on something Sky News out of England just said... it would seem that the coup may have been a failure, and the military is stepping down.  Again, don't just believe that yet.  But it seems the people on the streets didn't want this, and the military is moving out of their positions.

If this is true... heads will roll... those who led this coup, better get their plans set to run out of the country.

The coup seems to be over.  The president of Turkey is on tv now saying what the small minority who did do this coup, were a small group within the military.  He will use this to further shrink the Turkish military as he had already been doing.

Turkey, 3 terrorist attacks in France, Dallas, now Baton Rouge, the world is on fire right now.  There is no strong leader stepping up to the plate.

This is heinous.  Those poor police officers, they are being targeted all over the country. :-/  I hope at least one suspect is caught alive so we find a motive. 

Sadly these types of events are going to keep happening.  This is just the beginning it seems.

Numbers are varying a bit.  A live stream from the abc affiliate WAFB 9 in Baton Rouge has now changed the number to 3 officers dead and 6 shot.
