Is that the one where the promo ads say that Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker, in no matter what universe, never get to be happy together?  That's pretty depressing.  I'd like to see a reality where Gwen survived the fall off that bridge and wasn't either cloned by one maniac or impregnated by another*...but, frig it, they'd probably mess that up too.

* Although the story of  Gwen's pregnancy by Norman Osborn has been since sent deep into retcon hell... and the fanboys rejoiced

An origin story movie for Garfield?  Chris Pratt is playing himself.... uhhh.. is the voice of Garfield.  I guess companies are fine with him not changing his voice whatsoever like he did with Mario.

I will give it some time before I make judgement.  It looks like they are trying at least. :)

The biggest change to Garfield's character design I've ever seen in an animated film.... other than those ugly "Realistic" ones from earlier in the century.

^ Jim Davis sold his creation for money.  He doesn't care what they do to it.

So the Garfield movie has come out.  Overall, it seems like they played it safe.  It's content, and varies from decent to good.  No harm done.

The release date was May 24, 2024, yesterday.  As of May 25, the film has already made $57 million against it's budget of $60 million. The film was projected to gross around $30 million from 4,000 theaters in its four-day opening weekend, but it has already destroyed that projection in one day. Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of "B+" on an A+ to F scale.

It just hit Netflix this week.  Looks like I know how I'm spending my Saturday night.

Been bingeing the Garfield and Friends channel on Pluto TV for the last few weeks and, I gotta say, even after thirty years a lot of that humor still holds up mightily ("Cash and Carry", "Kiddie Korner", "The Record Breaker"). There's been talk, too, for some years of doing some new U.S. Acres cartoons, but for one reason or another it never comes to much... and, frankly, it wouldn't be the same without the incomparable Howard Morris.

I tried doing it myself, but my voice comes out sounding more like The Simpsons' Prof. Frink having a stroke.    :-\

Oh, man, if only they'd made this comic into a Quickie;D    :))

Maybe I need to give it a go again, but I was never huge on the U.S. Acres portions of the Garfield Show.  I always preferred the Garfield part.  But it has honestly been years since i've seen the shows together.  I was a kid.

In this blog, a father laments the generation gap, which every day seems more like a chasm, as his introduces his nine-year-old daughter to Garfield and Friends. She deems it "okay".  ???   <poop>

^ That was rather timely. The generational gap and the read as a whole was very interesting  "I like it better when it was animated."  Of course she meant CGI style. :(  Kids today...

Modern generations are given trash 'content' on their tablets that they merely consume.  They don't engage.  They become zombies. Their attention spans are at an all time low.
