So I got to watch some of the new Animaniacs and honestly... I got used to the animation and overall, I was pretty happy. :D They are doing jokes that aren't PC and I was relieved to see that.  It's like going back in time but with modern jokes.  They did a nice job and I enjoy the new theme song which is very similar with minor changes. :D

I expect now all the good little fanboys are preparing their wish lists for season 2, likely set for spring/summer of 2021.

This isn't actually from the A! reboot, mind, but I mentioned Toonsylvania in my last post, and the retro-ey animation style of the "Incredible Gnome" short reminded me of this segment from, gosh, almost 25 years ago. This is the kind of humor I want to see brought back.

And, I dunno, did it seem maybe the Warner Bros. acclimated a bit too quickly to the all these sweeping changes in 22 years?  It's like, temporal angst? What temporal angst? It seemed completely forgotten by ep. 3, and they're off bugging Marie Antoinette and a Kanye West-slash-Jay-Z knockoff with equal ease. I'd expect the kids to end up on the carpet with H.R. at least once for going too far and smashing some pretty-boy movie star on the bean with a mallet or burping a Miley Cyrus functionary through a brick wall. Old-school violence vs. touchy-feely postmodern conflict resolution crap. But no, it all ends in mutual respect and a round of fist-bumps.  Yeesh.  Wakko had better check his wacky sack and make sure his balls are still in there.    :-]

____________________________________________________________________________________

Another old favorite is also due for a reboot: Saved By The Bell, the "beloved nineties sitcom" about the adventures of six diverse, clean-cut California teens learning to live, love, and survive high school together is getting a new life on the new Peacock streaming platform. All right, look: I'm a total SBTB nerd; I love the show as much as anybody, I sometimes quote whole scenes verbatim--hell, I even have a copy of the ultra-rare network Saturday morning lineup preview show guest-starring Sherman Hemsley, Night Court's Marsha Warfield, and that fast-talking little dude from the Micro Machines commercials.  But god-damn, how many times can we hump this pig?!  I'm starting to think this joke I made 5 years ago about the future of the series might not be too off the mark now.

And, yeah, I'd probably still watch it....'cause I'm a mascoschist and a TV junkie. Go ahead, pencil it into my planner for 2044. I predict it'll air alongside the new new Full House Reboot, with the three Tanner girls (Michelle will now be played by some new actress 15-20 years younger than either Olsen twin, and many jokes will be made about this) and Kimmy Gibbler as a quartet of sassy senior citizens living, loving, and learning to cope with a changing world in the old rent-controlled San Franscisco homestead. We'll see their children, their grandchildren, their severely inbred and quite insane family pet Comet V, a prison-hardened Lori Laughlin, now forgiven by America, returning as lovable Aunt Becky, good ol' Uncle Joey stiill doing his schtick well into his nineties, and, just in time for May sweeps, the birth of a Tanner great-grandchild.

Oh, and Steve Urkel has a cross-sitcom cameo appearance as a seventy-year-old computer nerd who shits his highwater britches and then asks "Did I do that?"

According to this page, it was pulled because of the strobing lights in Dot's musical number which could have caused issues for photosensitive viewers.

According to the video and Hulu, the reason was because the phone number in the episode actually led to a porno phone call service. Couple of other sources.

Tiny Toons reboot coming to Cartoon Network and HBO Max

Article Nov 2020

Tiny Toons Looniversity, a new series featuring the characters from the beloved 1990s animated series Tiny Toon Adventures, is coming to Cartoon Network and HBO Max. Like the original series, the reboot will follow a new generation of cartoon characters — including Babs and Buster Bunny, Plucky Duck, and more — as they attend Acme Looniversity, where they study under the legendary Looney Tunes characters in hopes of becoming "professional toons."

Tiny Toon Adventures originally ran from 1990 t0 1992, a collaboration between Warner Bros. Animation and Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment. The show won several Emmy Awards including two for Outstanding Animated Program.

The new series, which has received a two-season, straight-to-series order, will likewise be produced by Warner Bros. and Amblin, with Spielberg returning as executive producer. This news comes as the studios' other 1990s collaboration, Animaniacs, is about to return with a reboot of its own on Hulu.

“For many kids, Tiny Toons was their introduction to the world of Looney Tunes and, over time, Buster, Babs, Plucky and all the characters grew to be just as beloved by an entirely new generation," Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios, said in a statement. "The continuation of our great creative partnership with Amblin Television will bring these characters back for fans of all ages to enjoy.”

My first thought: no one could ever replace the late Don Messick as Hamton J. Pig.  Or the late Joe Alaskey as Plucky Duck. Or the late Jonathan Winters as Hamton's dad, Wade--who only appeared in a handful of episodes, but was no less memorable for it.  And will Charlie Adler return as Buster, or will they get John Kassir again, or tap someone else (Eric Bazua, perhaps?) for the role? And will Elmyra ever mention she briefly owned a couple of talking lab mice? Will Arnold the pit bull be nixed on account of some very disturbing stories about the breed and the bans enforced in many areas?

Kinda interesting to see the voice actors doing their trade for Animaniacs.

'Frasier' Reboot: Everything We Know So Far About the Paramount+ Revival

Frasier could be coming back to screens as streaming service Paramount+ eyes a reboot of the Cheers spin-off starring Kelsey Grammer as the Seattle-based radio psychiatrist. Though exactly how far along this reboot is, or whether it is just speculation has not been confirmed, but across the years, multiple people involved in this potential reboot have revealed details about what fans of the multiple Emmy-winning comedy can expect.

In 2018, the Frasier reboot was described to be in the "exploratory stage." At that point, the potential revival was set to see Dr. Frasier Crane (played by Kelsey Grammer) move to a new city, suggesting the show would follow on from the finale of the original CBS show which saw the psychiatrist move to Chicago.

At that time, Grammer said to the Television Critics Association: "[We] have to make sure it's going to be a great show. If it's not a great show, and if we don't hear a pitch that hits it out of the park, it probably won't happen."

The actor also hinted that he had already been in talks with a number of networks to bring back the show, saying, "NBC may not be interested" and that it "may go somewhere else."

While in 2018 it was only Grammer who touted as starring in the reboot, this new version could see multiple characters return. TVLine has reported that the hope is for David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves and Peri Gilpin to return as Niles Crane, Daphne Moon and Roz Doyle. Martin Crane actor John Mahoney, meanwhile, died in February 2018.

In 2020, Gilpin told Metro News: "[A reunion] is possible. Definitely. There is a lot of talk about it. I do think there's something going on, but I don't know exactly what it is or whether it will actually happen."

In 2017, however, David Hyde Pierce was asked by Vulture whether he would do a reboot of the show and said: "No. And I don't think they would want one."

Grammar, meanwhile, is currently working on an ABC sitcom, as yet unnamed, that would team him up with Alec Baldwin as former roommates who come back together after falling out decades ago.

Paramount+ is the upcoming streaming service that is currently known as CBS All Access. In March, the service will be renamed and rebranded, with the streamer expanding its library of archive content and originals to compete with new services like Peacock and HBO Max.

If the service picks up a Frasier revival, it would be the second reboot announced by the service. In December, the service picked up a reboot of the popular Nickelodeon series iCarly.

Currently, all 11 seasons of the original Frasier are on Hulu as well as the NBC streaming service Peacock and CBS All Access.

'iCarly' Revival Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Plot: All the Reboot Details

TVLine reported that Miranda Cosgrove (who played Carly), Jerry Trainor (Spencer) and Nathan Kress (Freddie) are all due to return for the revival.

Fans will notice that two big names are currently missing from that cast list: Jennette McCurdy, who played Carly's best friend Sam, and Noah Munck, who played the pair's eccentric friend Gibby.

The latter was posting about other projects as the reboot was announced, suggesting that she has moved on from the Nickelodeon show. The actor has previously written about her struggles with eating disorders while filming the show, so may not have the happy memories of her time that her co-stars had.

Munck, meanwhile, has a recurring role on The Goldbergs which may prevent him from committing to a new show—though as most of the fan reaction on Twitter has been about his character coming back, the show's creators will surely be trying to lure him over.

Filming is not believed to have begun on the revival, but a 2021 release date is still likely. iCarly is one of the first shows announced from Paramount+, the rebranded version of CBS All Access that will expand the streamer to make it a rival to services like HBO Max and Peacock.

The rebrand is happening in early 2021, so it is possible that the show will premiere in the first half of the year as one of the first offerings from the new service. However, it has not been announced how far the show is in its development process, it is likely to be a longer wait.

To look at a similar reboot, Peacock's Saved By the Bell revival was announced in September 2019 before being released in November 2020, which might suggest an end of 2021 / start of 2022 release date is more realistic

An announcement about the release date of the new season of iCarly, however, is expected soon.

Fans who want to relive the old episodes of iCarly, meanwhile, can watch them now on CBS All Access and the Nick Hits Amazon Prime Video add-on.

No official plot details have been announced, but there is surely a rich seam of new stories to be told about young people who run a web series in our world of influencers, hype houses and social media.

There is, however, a cautionary tale that iCarly's writers may be wary of when creating the show. Disney+'s reboot of Lizzie McGuire has been through all sorts of development problems after its creator and Disney+ disagreed about whether the show should grow up with its cast members.

However, CBS All Access has courted a more adult audience than Disney, which could hint at what we can expect from this new season.

Ugh.  ::)

Found it. Not going to call it, though, because why pay for it when, back in my days living in the men's dorms at school, hot, wild townie girls would call you up for free?  Probably no longer, though in the brave new age of #MeToo (f[bleep] you, Hillary Clinton....)

Amazing how they can bring back all the great shows of the nineties with absolutely no understanding at all of what it was that made the decade so great. It was big, it was overblown, it was loud and chaotic and dirty ...and we loved it. All the reboots feel so hollow and artificial and clean and sanitized. It's as if it the totally wrong people were put in charge of a very ambitious project and managed to suck the life out of it.    :(

'We’re not doing guns': Elmer Fudd stripped of rifle in Looney Tunes reboot, plus many other politically correct changes...

...but good news, people: Elmer does get to show his bare ass.

(turns head off-panel and vomits profusely and loudly for about 30 seconds; looks back to audience, wipes mouth, smiles broadly)

(suddenly bellowing)  ALSO, WHAT THE (censor noise) WAS IT WITH GIVING FUDD AN AXE?!  How is that any less imitable than a (censor noise) gun?!?

(breathes heavily with rage for a few seconds, then suddenly smiles again)  But, good news... we get a sneeze from Porky Pig! It's here, about 8-and-a-half minutes in.  Enjoy!    ;D

They say they don't want to promote VIOLENCE.  That clip had Elmer's eyes blown out, he explodes, and dies.  WHAT THE HECK?  How is that better then him simply holding a gun that he usually tosses aside soon anyways?
