I like to think that's just one border town.  The rest of the griffon kingdom is further east and keeps to itself.
Griffonstone griffons were kinda funny though.

There is a lot of talk about, EXPLORE EQUESTRIA, but it is confusing as what is defined as Equestria.  Is Equestria the nation that the ponies live in only?  If so, that would mean we just explore Eqeusrtia and see Manehatten, Baltimare, Seaddle, Vanhoover, etc. 

Equestria would not encompass other kingdoms and entities like the Griffon Kingdom, Saddle Arabia, Yak-YUKistan.... Hate that place.

Well Equestria is like their country I think. I mean, think about it. The Griffon Kingdom isn't part of Equestria. And there is "the edge of Equestria", which is an actual place, not an expression.

Okay, so Equestria is the nation then.  I guess they even have an anthem for Equestria too, as we've seen in the newer episodes where many characters have EQUESTRIA pride.  There is also the Equestrian people, which is just telling us they are from Equestria.
