Remember that "Monster Trucks" movie we were bashing earlier in the topic?  They spent $125 million to make it, and only got back about $60 million!  Biggest failure of the year so far.

Kubo makes me sad. Because that was an actually amazing film.

I was saddened Ben-Hur wasn't great.

This is a shock, no one expected this good of an opening.

Shock opening, 'Beauty and the Beast' Records $170M in U.S., $350M Globally in opening weekend!  Places it in the top ten openings of all time.  Don't think even Disney expected that.

People whether they think they will like it or not will go and see it because it's freaking Beauty and the Beast.
Like I said. Disney's latest cash grab. And it worked.

I know it was advertised, but it was kind of under the radar for me.  Not sure about others.

Also that new Power Rangers movie coming out later next week... I am worried about it for people who are excited about it, like Blurr.

The film has already been delayed one year, which is usually a sign that the film wasn't good to begin with and they are trying to fix it.  They released a trailer only 6 months ago... They might not break even either since the film isn't going to be released in China.  They've already spent $150 million on the film which is a heft hunk of change.

I think you are right!  I wasn't sure the new darker approach would appeal to people.  Not the same Disney magic, but it apparently got enough excited!  Congrats to them!

And it just looks bad...  The people running it are known for complete flop films already.  They choose a weekend with no major films so they can at least win a weekend... even it if only draws in barely $30 million. It will be a flop film.

In terms of animation, that new Dreamsworks "Boss Baby" film is coming out at the end of the month, but it doesn't look good.

Boss Baby will be a dumb movie, one of Dreamworks worst.  The animation looks way too rubbery too.  It will do poorly in the reviews department.

I am willing to bet that "Boss Baby" will be placed on one of the worst Dreamworks films.  It just has the makings of it.

I don't know, it sounds creative for all intents and purposes. My sisters are excited to see it. But even they have noticed the declining quality of Dreamworks movies. I do have to say this though, they try to be creative. They try different ideas. Better than what Disney's been doing lately. Just rehashing their old animated classics as live action. Boss Baby sounds stupid, but from trailers, they're trying interesting stuff with them being you know, babies. Dreamworks also has another film in the works, based on the oh so lovely book series /s "Captain Underpants". Dreamworks... Why? I don't know what to think of you anymore. You confuse me.

Despicable Me 3 is coming out. Looking forward to that. Illumination is an interesting studio to say the least. Their ideas outside of the Despicable franchise are simple. Baby steps I suppose.

I think no one in this generation knows Captain Underpants.  Only kids from the 90s.... and that era is way gone.  The movie is two decades too late... and it never needed a movie.
