The first bit of XFL tv ratings are in.   Hopefully more will follow. Article

The XFL had a promising start to its first weekend, including averaging 3.3 million viewers for its kickoff game Saturday night between the D.C. Defenders and Seattle Dragons.  The most people watching came from the Seattle market with a total of 6.4 million.  Second was strangely Cleveland, then Columbus, Kansas City, then Washington DC.

The big market from Seattle isn't a surprise considering the city's involvement and that it's home to the NFL's Seahawks. Those fans saw quarterback Brandon Silvers throw three touchdowns with two interceptions in a 31-19 loss.

Interestingly, Cleveland and Cincinnati, two cities without an XFL franchise, produced high ratings. Those fans were no doubt tuning in to see former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones play for the Defenders.

4 million were tuned in for the final quarter hour of the contest won by the Defenders.

Actual attendance in person at all four games in the inaugural weekend topped 17,000 at all four venues.

It is also said that the Seattle teams merchandise has sold out, unlike other teams which still have product.  It's so popular in Seattle that the home opening game had to re-sell tickets as they expanded the seating at Century Link Field to allow more people in!  So that's a good sign.

Edit: Just in, we got tv ratings for the second game between the Houston Roughnecks and the LA Wildcats.  Looks like the sports fans in Los Angeles are going to be a hard sell for this league.  They didn't even make it in the top five in viewers.  Instead the top watching cities were Houston, St. Louis, Tampa bay, Dallas, Atlanta, and Kansas City with Seattle behind that.   The second game didn't get as high a ratings as the first game between Seattle and DC. 2.3 million average.

Normal NFL games during the day and evening (not SNF, MNF, or TNF included) tend to vary from 8 million to 25 million depending on the market and what not.

So I think the XFL getting around 4 million is pretty good!

NASCAR driver Ryan Newman is in stable condition after that horrific crash on the last lap of the Daytona 500.  He was leading the race on the front straight when he was spun around by the competitors behind him.  His car flipped and exploded into flames sliding across the finish line on it's roof in fourth place.

The President, who was also the Gran Marshal of the event, tweeted out he was praying for veteran driver Ryan Newman.  We can only hope and pray he continues to heal.

XFL Week 2.

Article

XFL saw a slight tv ratings dip but was expected.  It stood strong and made the networks happy hovering around 3 million.  As well attendance at the games grew, including the record attendance at Seattle's Century Link Field for Seattle Dragons fans who saw their new home team beat the Tampa Bay Vipers.  That game had nearly 30,000 people in attendance which is an XFL record.

Internals from the XFL are continuing to praise how strong the fanbase is in Seattle in support for their team and the league... and how beleaguered it is in Los Angeles drawing in the lowest tv ratings and attendance (despite being the second biggest city in the country).

Thank God.

Ryan Newman treated, released from hospital
Article

Ryan Newman has been treated and released from Halifax Medical Center, according to the Roush-Fenway's official Twitter account.

He had been hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries after a wreck at the finish of Monday’s Daytona 500.

Earlier Wednesday, the team announced that Newman “continued to show great improvement.” According to Roush Fenway, Newman was joking with staff members, friends and family while playing with his two daughters.

Hours later, he was officially released.

It is unknown if he will race the next week or race at all this season.

Well there goes sports.  Better to over prepare then to be worse in the future.

NBA suspends season until further notice.

NCAA tournaments canceled over coronavirus.

MLB To Postpone Season.

NASCAR Will Hold Races Without Fans.

NHL suspending play immediately due to virus.

This is kind of fun and different.

So last week when NASCAR announced they would stop races due to the virus, they also announced during their normal race tv schedule they would instead hold E-NASCAR events on iRacing.  Real Cup drivers from all the top NASCAR leagues as well as online racers will compete in a full length race and it will be televised with hosts.  Good job by NASCAR here to also promote the online racers and their racers and still have fun.

The event will begin on FS1 at 1:30pm EST.

I was flipping through some sports channels the other day.  They are all bunched together on my tv provider and noticed they are all playing old games from last year, historic games, and stuff like that.  I somehow ended up on the GOLF Network and watched some golf game from 1974 for a bit.  It was so funny seeing how they dress and the announcer talk.

That is part of the puzzle to be a good team.  But they have to really work on the rest of that Bucs team.  I don't know what to expect from them yet.  Also Brady is another year older...
