Yep... now Putin recognizes these eastern portions of Ukraine as "two separate independent states."  Up next, he will say that in order to respect their sovereignty, he will send in troops to expel Ukrainian troops.

It's happening...

Anyone who thinks Putin and his generals as satisfied with just Ukraine will be surprised when they find out they will want more.

This reminds me of Hitler and his invasions onto other countries and how for the longest time no one did anything about it, hoping he would just stop.  If the message isn't clear and the Ukrainian's don't fight like hell against the Russian's and their backed rebels, expect to see Mr. Putin carry out more invasions.

Crimea... Georgia... what is next?

We are closer to a world war than we've been since WWII.  Soon sanctions from the west will be even more meaningless as Russia tightens their trading of imports/exports with China.

And this is happening when America has the worst and weakest leader we've had in close to a hundred years.  No strong US, and it doesn't appear anyone strong in Europe to stand up to this.

Oh... It's changed since I've posted.  It has begun...

Putin orders troops to eastern Ukraine

Putin orders troops to eastern Ukraine after formally recognizing two Moscow-backed separatist regions

Putin recognizes parts of Ukraine as independent, sends in troops, prompting initial US sanctions

Putin ratchets up tension with moves in eastern Ukraine

US announces first sanctions after Russia recognizes Ukraine separatists

The US has moved it's embassy from Kyiv to Lviv, about a half hour from Poland's border.  Now the US has told the embassy to pack up and get out as quick as they can... meaning the US government has good reason to think Russia will be going for more of Ukraine than just the east.  Poland, Moldova, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland all better start readying their troops and bulking up their borders.

Russia now has more troops mobilized than any army has since WWII.

It is sadly beginning.  Russian's are moving into Ukraine's sovereign territory.  Russian flag troops, not their false flag ones.

Pray for the people of Ukraine.  There could be a mass loss of life in this hostile take over of a sovereign nation.

A powerful explosion has rocked central Lugansk, in eastern Ukraine, late on Monday according to some reports.  It's likely Russian backed rebels who did it in the ceasefire zone.  Ukraine's military hasn't done anything other than stand their ground, and provide aid to those in need.

Guys I’m scared…

The hits keep coming.  Pandemic, all the vents between 2020-to now, and now this invasion.  Not to mention Taiwan and China and  China's increased aggression.... Are we are seeing a new 'axis' emerging with Russia-China-Iran-North Korea...

Putin is sending in Russian soldiers, tanks, and air support as "peace keepers" even though they are invading Ukraine's territory.

I'm so worried given where this is happening.  I just hope this doesn't lead to a World War. :(

It should be pretty obvious that you can't trust anything Putin or his government says.  They've been saying for weeks they would not invade or enter Ukraine.  This goes opposite of that.  Thankfully Germany halted Nord Stream Pipeline 2 developments today.

Any former Bloc country should be worried.  The Ambitions to make a greater Russia are real.  We are knocking on WWIII, armageddon type stuff.  Poland and other former bloc countries better be alert and prepare for Russian invasion and threats within the next twenty years.  No one in the west wants war or WWIII, but Russia seems keen on doing so.

Turkey, who usually allies with Russia lately, also has condemned Russia's actions into Ukraine.  Erdogan called it unacceptable.

Ukraine President President Zelensky is calling upon military reservists as we speak.

Baltic countries like Estonia said they firmly stand behind Ukraine. Lithuania and Latvia have condemned it too.

Finland who is usually quite neutral has condemned Russian action violating sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

All we can do outside of sending soldiers (which no one wants) is to stand in solidarity and support of Ukraine.  But imagine the refugee crisis this will cause the prices of commodities in Europe.  Things will skyrocket and so many people will be displaced from their homes. :(

I was reading some news and now Australia and Japan have also done sanctions against Russia for their actions.  Hopefully more will too.  Russia's actions against a sovereign country is disturbing and anything their leaders say now can not be trusted as they have lied so blatantly.  :(

A major blow was the stop to the development of Nord Stream 2.  The United States, the United Kingdom, Ukraine and several EU countries have opposed the pipeline since it was announced in 2015, warning the project would increase Moscow's influence in Europe.  I'm glad Germany did that at the very least.

Don't know.  Russia's invasion of Georgia and Crimea didn't start a world war.  It might not here as well.  It's one step closer though to Russia actually invading NATO members though such as Poland or the Baltic's. But there are much more pressing issues such as China and what they will do with Taiwan.

While certainly things have heightened because of Russia's invasion, we can only take it a day at a time.  For most of the world, no one will blink an eye or notice any difference.  We'll see what happens, but don't dwell and worry about it right now.  There are still many things that need to happen for more people to have cause for concern.

We have our own issues here in the US to worry about as well.

Unfortunately, it is early morning in Ukraine and there are reports and video now of Russian's booming the capital of Ukraine already.  Most likely targeted spots for communication, military, police, airfields... This goes opposite of Russia saying they would stay just in their made up "break away" regions.  So Russia is already attacking central Ukraine.

Putin has become the 21st century mad man.  Our era's Hitler.  He is taking over a sovereign country just for the sake of it.  Russian media is creating false narratives saying that Ukraine is a threat to Russia's sovereignty and that Ukraine is full of Nazi's.  I am not making this up.  Russian media and their government officials are pushing this narrative. Article

If you think Russia will stop with Ukraine, you will be surprised.  They will go for more.  Poland, Baltics, etc...

But at the same time, I view this as a short term win for Russia but long term loss.  This is the beginning of Putin's decline.  He may be successful early on taking space, but good luck holding on to it, especially in the cities.  The Ukrainian's are going to fight like hell.  Sanctions will eventually cripple the Russian economy even more (over 50% of Russia's economy is purely from selling energy), and when the sanctions hit the wallets of the Russian people, they will get fed up with this.  Hopefully cause a revolution for democracy themselves.

But I don't think this should be downplayed, @MasterXtreme.  This very well could be the start of a global war.  If he takes Ukraine, he is on the doorstep of NATO Countries and Putin does want Poland, Estonia, Latvia, etc.
