Sony Pictures Animation Discussion

A topic for past, present, and future Sony Pictures Animation films.

They are known for films such as Open Season, Cloud With a change of Meatballs, Hotel Transylvania, The Angry Birds Movie (even though they didn't animate it), and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

They have a lot coming up ahead.  They didn't do the first Angry Birds movie, but that movie was actually pretty good.  So I hope they can mimic the style Rovio did in the first film and keep it's charm.

I can't believe they are making another Peter Rabbit movie.  No one asked for that.

I like how Sony Animation has such a 2D cartoony movement in much of their work.  They are more zany and fun with their characters.  They've also shown the most improvement in terms of visuals in their films.  So I do hope they have success after such duds as the Emoji Movie and Peter Rabbit.

Old article from 2017.  We already know the movies they are planning as listed in the second post. ;)

No it's real because they also covered the two pixar movies that weren't revealed yet and the article was right about them making that robot uprising movie and making adult shows so I believe it

He knows it's not a fake article.  It's real.  But the news is old.  The article is over three years old.  We have the current information on the second post. ;)

Nope.

But surprisingly, I will say the first Angry Birds movie was actually pretty good.  It isn't a classic, but it is very humorous and weird.

Apearently it's soppesed to be great with a 76 critic score and a 85 audience score it might be the best movie based on a video game ever

Websites like Metacritic are dangerous to believe in.  But they can be decent metrics... I'm glad from the sounds of it, the film was good.  They have have surprised us with both movies with the most unlikely source!

Rovio is smart.  They are keeping their Angry Birds relevant and they are not making these movies be purely related to their games.  Instead they let the developers make a good movie.

I can say that Angry Birds 2 is BETTER than the first Angry Birds.  I saw it with some young family members and I was laughing and enjoying it.  They took what was good from the first move and made it better!  I really enjoyed it and they allowed for characters to develop! There is also some slower moments, but pacing is well done.  I liked the first move a good amount, but this improves on it.

I think Rovio has allowed Angry Birds to become a full series now.  They can continue to make movies or a tv series that has no relation to their games... and it's good!  Sony Animation did a good job here.
