I'd like to thank you for taking the time to respond to my comment.
This madness personally effects me, I have to observe people verbally attack my friend and family member online and offline. My store shutdown early because of a possible rioters and looters in the area. I see people praising this destruction, down with the big retail stores. I work at one of these retail stores. I've lost a lot of respect for artists that I follow on FA because they're only fueling the fire, any opinion that doesn't match their opinion perfectly ends with an insult to invalidate that different opinion and a block so they don't have to see it.
Social media has become antisocial media, because one wrong hashtag will end with a lot of insults and a lot of blocks. It's made me take a step back from the furry community. It's made me take a step back from social media. It's made me take a step back from chilling on the internet.
I probably need a break from the net, but with the big bad bug still floating around... That's not really an option.
Maybe you know, maybe you don't, but the hatred and destruction you see is a minority. Especially online too. The places on social media that we tend to gravitate to are filled mainly by a subset of people who think a certain way. They claim to be open minded, but if you share a differing opinion you are torn down.
If you jump into reality (usually outside of social media or in real life) you will see differing opinions. Another reason people may think society thinks a certain way is because the tech companies that run these social media outlets are usually run by people who think the same way as their followers and the one's who use their platform. Today this is becoming tricky with social media outlets now pushing certain news stories, but still hiding behind the banner that they aren't news agencies... even though they promote and show only what they feel is "correct." They want to be able to label what is "incorrect" and control the thought process. They of course will skew news into their political viewpoint and the less informed social media crowd (who usually only reads headlines) will believe whatever is thrown at them and think they are "educated on the subject matter."
Whoow. Sorry. I could keep going but I won't. I am sorry for your business. I too understand what it is like to have law enforcement family and trying to run my own business. First we got punched by Covid. Now we got looters and anarchists ruining our businesses. How does that help? Well really, they aren't there for what they say they are there for. They are there for a fundamental breakdown of society to run it how probably their professors spewed it out to them. "In a perfect" and "idealistic" world or something...
It's messed up. Very depressing and there never seems to be any good news. Just negative, negative, negative. It keeps kicking us while we are down. The media is part of the problem, divisive, and vomiting out partisan politics and their own viewpoints veiled as "news." Some don't even try to hide it anymore. In the rare chance they are called out for their lies, they don't care. They work with the establishment political party they are tied to and spew out more collusion, hoaxes, and lies.
The internet, especially social media is a horrible place. It makes you reevaluate who you consider "Friends" and if you end your night feeling worse than before your started, it's probably best to take a break or get off the internet to some degree. You will probably feel better. Toxicity reigns at all ends, but especially amongst websites that claim to "welcome all viewpoints"... as long as it is their own viewpoint that slants heavily to the left.
Find a better online community if you must. There is a lot of good on the internet, you just have to know where to find it and surround yourself with it. Good in, good out. Bad in, bad out. If you are just as sick as most people who get "virtue signaled" by their social media website telling them out great their beliefs are, or which groups they support, and what they believe, their's a good chance you are one a Tumblr, DeviantArt, Facebook, etc type group. There are many alternatives.
