YES! We got confirmation! It's officially happening!  The teams are splitting up.  THREE Map teams on ATS plus a FOURTH team working on California Rework Phase 3.  So I made a concept map.  The yellow is teased states/areas we know are coming.  Then the areas show possible routes they could be going.

Yessss!  With this official announcement these seem likely and certainly two or three will be correct, lol! Possibly more in the long-term.  We'll have plenty to look forward to now with tons of variety going forward.  Super hyped.

I'm just wondering where they will inter into Canada.  I thought a silly spot would be Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  But realistically a better entry would be into Manitoba so they could go east or west.  East would be boring and remote for a very very long way.  Heading west would be pretty rural but start to get more exciting once we get to Alberta and back to the Pacific Northwest region with mountains and forests of British Columbia... then someday.... ALASKA.

Sadly, no Mexico for the next years.

Ehh, don't worry.  It is just be vast stretches of desert.  Nothing all that interesting for awhile until they get to populated areas or further into the south-central or coasts.

Now this was a good blog post because it answered so many things we had twirling in our heads and now we know that SCS is fully putting all their eggs in ATS to become the next big game.  It's big, but I hate how it's play growth hasn't exploded upwards.  It is steadily gaining though.  We have a lot of visually interesting places to look forward to now with this branching map route, plus some lesser exciting places too.

I'm liking the depth to some of these posts, especially what you said, @MasterXtreme!  It lines up with what the expert forum goers at SCS have been saying now too.  The amount of directions this game can go has exploded so much with this simple change.

It seems they are content with BIG map updates every 18 months in ETS while ATS gets tons of smaller DLCs which equal big content really fast.  I think they're getting into a great rhythm with ATS.

ARKANSAS, WHAT TO EXPECT.... A brief rundown.

I really like this banner for some reason.  The colors are nice.  Lol!

So Arkansas is not a big or heavily populated state.  Barely over 3 million people live in the state. The biggest city, Little Rock (204,000), is smaller in population than Washington's second biggest city, Spokane (230,000).  The state has rolling hills that they call "mountains," and it is forested.  Don't expect big mountains like in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California, or Colorado.  These are very small mountains, but it will be a day and night difference to what we've seen with states like Texas, Oklahoma, and many future ones.

The Ozarks are famous in this region for their natural beauty and small towns, tons of lakes and rivers. It would also be the first state we get to witness the famous Mississippi River.  "The Big Muddy!!"  The wealthiest part of the state is in the northwest, around Bentonville.  This area is also the fastest growing area in the state.  The rest pop the state deals with that southern poverty the American south is often associated with, with poverty levels being worst in the deep southern portions of the state.  The economy had long been fairly limited, but in the past few years, it has been diversifying.  Famous companies from Arkansas: Walmart. Former American President Bill Clinton is from Arkansas.

We will begin to see a change in town layouts as we enter the south now too.  So expect a change in the compactness of downtowns, compared to other parts of the US.  Arkansas has some key towns in the state that are known for their abandonment and high crime. Pine Bluffs is somehow one of the more dangerous cities in the US based on crimes per capita.  Fort Smith, Texarkana, Pine Bluff, and parts of Hot Springs, all deal with abandonment due to people leaving.  Should be interesting to see in-game.

Also some excitement for future states coming after this such as Louisiana and New Orleans.  East of AR is Tennesee which has cities like Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville.  North of AR is Missouri which has Kansas City and St Louis.

Topography map.

^ Nice little breakdown @Graymist.  Thank you.  It will be interesting the transition from the hilly west to the flat muddy fields of the eastern portion of the state.  As you head south, it gets swampier as we near Louisiana.  It's a state with a mix of all from surrounding states, and all in a tiny area.

It's going to feel a bit like SE Texas.  Like how Beaumont in the game is kinda abandony.

I can't imagine living in these towns so far from everything.  Life goes on around them, but life goes on within them too.  It's like a whole different world for those living in them.  They are supplying the country with food while we all mindlessly stare at our phones and forget these hard workers exist in the center of the country.

Well, I think a lot of people may want to hide from the modern world in these towns far from everything ;D.

^ If I had the opportunity to, I probably would. ;D Work remotely from a town without all the pressures of modern society would probably feel very nice.

More appreciated form of escapism ;D. No sitting in the room, but driving a truck with grain!
The grain will not transport itself ;D.

If I am supplied and have internet, power, and water, I will happily live on this rocky-cliff lighthouse.
