Is there a way to get that feature here?  If I wanted to gets member Bob's attention in a topic, is there a way to notify him without a personal message and go @Bob?  Is there a plugin or something?  Would love to know, thanks.  I think it would be very useful.

@Darrin, @AnyPoneDrawn : I found an appropriate plugin and installed it, though I've not finished configuring it.  It's the largest plugin we've installed to date.

Since it can potentially allow members to cause emails to be sent to other members, I've disabled it for "Newbie"s (0-49 posts) for now.

Question: should it be opt-in or opt-out to receive emails when mentioned by someone else?

Also: let me know here if the site blows up or things start breaking, since it might be the plugin ;)

Very awesome new feature.  Someone test it on me!

It should be an opt in / opt out option.  Might want to start it as opt in until the person opts out maybe?

I actually have no idea how the @-mentions worked on the previous forum, so I made it up as I went along!  (So, e.g., I added the new button on the top bar as a manual hack; it isn't part of the plugin, though the page it leads to is.)

Let me know if this is insufficient.

That is so cool, there is a new section for mentions and you can click on any spot you are mentioned@  This is an awesome new feature!  I love it!
