^ I have no idea what is going to happen with that Fiona and Cake show.

Reportedly Cartoon Network is going to rely heavily on their old shows with new blocks playing shows from the 90s and 2000s since they have not many new shows in the works.  One or two is it.

Yeah a lot of changes going on, and much of what you said has already been implemented.  A lot of their upcoming shows got cancelled in the merger and the remaining few got shuffled to streaming services, which also seem to be struggling, but they keep throwing money at them.  Go figure.

Warner and Paramount are in talks to merge.

That means Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon would be one.... Plus many other things.  Quick video explanation below.

Well that would be weird.  Two comeptitors would be one, and likely they would shut down one and merge them. Saving money is the name of the game.

This would not be something I want to see happen.

Or they might both stick around....

But if they were gonna shut one down, it would probably be Cartoon Network.  It has continued to decline, despite being more innovate the past decade.  Viewership gets less and less.  It has even been blocked on basic cable for most people now...

I never understood why CN struggled compared to the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon.  I would argue it had better shows most of time.   Nick and CN were neck and neck in quality shows in the late 90s and into the 2000s though, but after Spongebob, Nick fell off.  Disney was never even close, though they might be having their best time now since Gravity Falls.

Cartoon Network isn't basic cable anymore?  It's a special package?  That's gonna hurt if true. (Edit it is true, happened a few years ago 2021: "Xfinity TV Update: Effective April 13, 2021, Cartoon Network will no longer be available on Expanded Basic or Kids & Family. It will be available on Digital Preferred." HBO had their way and demanded a premium for it.... so more money if you want to watch Cartoon Network.  It's like they are trying to run it into the ground.)

^ Actually who knows?  With the merger coming up, if CN is struggling (they helped caused it) it could be a reason for them to ditch it. Most CN, TBS, TNT, TruTv content is already on or moving to HBO Max....  They also keep cancelling new shows for CN.

Cartoon Network keeps getting harder to find for people with cable as they keep making it a more "premium" network to get.  Means more coin to get.  I am sure this is some stupid attempt to have people simply by Max streaming service.

Soon people will realize that streaming services cost more than cable over did, just to get the same shows they used to get on cable.  It's so ridiculous we are going through this streaming service and cable cutting era right now.  Streaming services will eventually merge and prices will just keep going up.  More and more streaming services will keep adding advertisements defeating the purpose of 'ad free streaming.'  You won't even be able to tell the difference between streaming or cable in the future because they will all be overpriced and loaded with advertisements.

The only boon with streaming right now is you can watch what you want when you want.  No tv schedule to follow.  But cable services have added this feature to many shows for over a decade now with 'on demand' shows you can watch for free.

/rant over.

CN is finally releasing the new Total Drama Island season.  They did not renew it for another season.  But they are putting it in a death slot of 9am on a Saturday.  That's them saying they are done with this show and just want to get rid of it.  Coming in June 2024 on Saturdays at 9am only.

Speaking of Canadian cartoons.... I didn't know this, but Cartoon Network has replaced Canada's cartoon channel, Teletoon.

On February 21, 2023, Corus announced that Teletoon would be rebranded as Cartoon Network on March 27, 2023. No significant changes were made to Télétoon itself, and the "Teletoon" brand also remains active through the Teletoon+ streaming service.  Teletoon's very first show was . . . Oh no . . . it was Caillou.

Wow, didn't know they were absorbed and turned into Cartoon Network Canada.  Everyone is consolidating.

People were worried about Cartoon Network's future, and they should be to some degree, but it seems like their owners don't plan for it to shutter.
