I can't believe this thread isn't here yet but anyone here a nintendo gamer? Super Smash Bros? Etc etc. I just got Splatoon for Wii U and its soooooo addicting!
-
Well, as you can tell by my original name I LOVE-ED Nintendo.
I played a lot of their stuff, and love it, but I moved on from them. Sadly they don't seem to have that wonder for me anymore. But I still love playing Smash Bros., Pikmin, Mario, etc.
-
There isn't a thread for this already?
No, I can't believe it. I remember you distinctly talking about this before. Did it just fall into a black hole?
-
Loved their stuff in the past, but they don't have anything relevant anymore.
-
There's a few things out there thats still cool. Splatoon is fuckin awesome
-
Yeah got a few games for the 3ds.
-
you has 3ds too glaceon? Friend code?
-
Out of context fun!
poopy pantsin awesome
But one game on their console worth mentioning? That's a shame when I would say so much of their games used to be worth buying. One game for a console is not a good investment for fun. ;)
-
I mean, there is the new Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Splatoon, Pikmin 3, and just other general stuff. I've heard they're fun games, but they're starting to kinda lack.
Also who could forget the amazing Watch_Dogs for the Wii U?
Just muah 10/10.
I don't even know if it ever happened tbh.
-
Only because Miggs brought it up. Lol.
-
Hehehheh. I actually enjoyed Watch_Dogs. I never finished the story but the game was pretty neato.
So... it WAS a thing... huh.
But yeah, basically most things on Wii U are exclusive, so unless there's a buncha stuff ya want, it's not that worth it.
But damn, a Wii on the other hand, that had some good stuff.
-
Yeah, the newer Wii U struggled to play Watch Dogs and the very old PS3 played it smoothly. Pretty funny.
I liked some N64 games.
-
I never had an N64 growing up. Hell, my first console was a Gamecube when it was dying out to the Wii. That was almost 10 years ago.
I do remember playing Super Mario 64 at a friends house though. And I did get to play the Gamecube ports of LoZ: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, which is my favorite LoZ game.
-
you has 3ds too glaceon? Friend code?
Okay I will pm you the code as I don't want it public.
-
My friend is looking to save up and buy the new Nintendo NX. Anyone else?
-
What the hell is a Nintendo NX?
*Googles*

This thing?
-
What is that?
What's it for? Do you have to buy completely separate games to play with it?

This thing?
This goes to show how no one pays attention to Nintendo anymore. I didn't even know they were working on a new system. :-\
-
Lol. Does it even deserve its own topic then haha.
Kind of sad.
-
Lol. Does it even deserve its own topic then haha.
Kind of sad.
No it doesn't. Lol. Previous nintendo convo's were just generally held in the Video Games topic.
-
Yeah, I think that is why we basically said Nintendo didn't need its own topic last time it was brought up haha.
So... What do we do with this sort of dead topic? We just merge it back to video game topic?
-
Nintendo are not bad systems I like my red 3ds
-
We're not saying they are.
We're saying it doesn't deserve its own topic. It was fine being discussed in the Video Game thread since it was only occasionally brought up.
-
Just leave it, it might get more use then we think. Just like the Xbox topic which is dead.
-
Paper Mario. That is a series nintendo created I LOVE! I just bought the new game in the series a week ago. And it is FUN. And hard at times. Really challenges your brain with some of the puzzles.
-
How is it compared to the other Paper Mario games? Average, above average, better, on par, worse?
-
It's up there with the others. Each one has its own appeal. This one does too. New type of game play and the battle mechanic is interesting as well.
-
Wait, there's a new Paper Mario out or is this one of the older ones but not as old ones you're talking about?
-
This one just came out a week ago. paper Mario Color Splash
-
Oh wow, that sounds super cool. On what console is it for?
-
Wii U
-
Oh... Crin.
-
The new console was revealed today. It's called the Nintendo Switch
-
Only today? I think it was announced at least two days ago lol. People were making memes of it yesterday on ifunny.
But cool. They just cut out the screen of the wiiU tablet and mashed the sides together XP
-
Yeah at the moment Nintendo switch is off to a bad start with all the crashing and freezing here's a video of what it does.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cb-srOfRqNc
-
My friend got a Switch.
The thing about the cartridges is funny though, to make sure dumbass kids don't eat them lol
-
I just had to look on images for the cartridges and they are small could easily lose that.
-
This is the last thing Nintendo needed to go wrong. They are already on their last leg as a console company.
-
Yeah well so are DS cartridges. If you're losing those you're just irresponsible.
-
I keep my cartridge in my ds all the other go in there cases.
-
There is an international outcry right now, because the Switch is failing on people, freezing, and dying. The system is getting poor reviews for the ultra cheapness in quality too, and poorly built products. This could be a big fiasco for them. Nintendo has released a troubleshooting guide for people experiencing problems with their Joy-Cons and have stated online now that it is "normal to heave dead pixels" and things to crash at times. That seems kind of weird...
Sales are good, the best Nintendo has ever had for a launch of a new system, but there are a lot of unhappy people returning them due to shoddy craftsmanship.
-
What will happen to Nintendo if the Switch is another “failure,” as in, it ultimately sells around what the Wii U sold, that forgotten console no one knew existed. It’s hard to know what the cut-off would be for a “disappointment,” but Gamecube and the Wii U are viewed as rather poor-selling, at 21 million and 13 million respectively, while the N64, SNES and NES all fared much better at 33 million, 49 million and 62 million respectively. Anything under 20 million would be considered bad, but there’s an additional dimension here that is rarely talked about.
If the Switch fails, it fails hard, because it has no new handheld system to prop it up. As such, its metric for what’s considered a success is almost certainly going to have to be higher than normal.Last generation, even though the Wii U struggled with low sales, Nintendo at least had a piece of hardware that was selling five times as well, the 3DS, which sold about 65 million units.
This is where there’s a lot of pressure not just for the Switch to drastically outperform the Wii U, but to sell enough units so that Nintendo can realize their secret-but-probably-not-that-secret plan to make the Switch both its home console and handheld, merging those divisions together at last.
There’s another question on everyone’s mind if the Switch doesn’t do well. Would another Wii U-like generation be enough to push Nintendo out of hardware entirely? I mean, Nintendo hasn't exactly adapted well over the years and they are still developing the same old games with new titles over them. Besides the original Wii, there has been no innovation from Nintendo in years. Don't say the Switch is, because it isn't. It's just jumbling everything together as one.
Sales are off to a strong start, but they need to break the threshold and combine sales of the console and handhelds to be successful.
If not, we really could see a future of no Nintendo hardware and possibly selling just games to other willing payers. As you can note, Nintendo has cornered themselves into a market where only they develop games for themselves... and thats a dangerous market to be in.
-
It's definitely not normal to have dead pixels and crashing that just causes consumer frustrations I do hope Nintendo sort themselves out as I like my 3ds and don't want the games to stop entirely.

Very, very, very, VERY, valid.
They will need more sales then ever to stay afloat. The current 3DS is ancient, and it's sales are dropping fast. Nintendo will need better then great sales to stay relevant as a company. Unless there is a major shift in the gaming industry, such and consoles no longer being relevant, this is a really real concern for Nintendo, and they know it.
-
The Nintendo Switch has sold 1.5 million (http://www.businessinsider.com/nintendo-switch-launch-sales-2017-3) consoles so far in it's first week. It is the fastest selling Nintendo console in history, but not the fastest selling console in history which goes to Sony and their behemoth Playstation family of systems. Experts predicted higher sales, so this was a revealing moment of NOT as good a sales as we predicted.
-
Got one! And got Breath of the Wild to go with it!
-
Guys, Breath of the Wild.....holy crap its great.
-
What got the Nintendo switch?
-
WHO got it. ;)
-
A few of my friends did. It looks like a nice enough console.
-
I got one ten days ago
-
So I just signed up with a few friends today to take part in a splatoon torunament.
-
How is the Nintendo switch?
-
IT's actually really cool. Breath of the Wild is probably the best zelda game I've played.
-
Sounds good then I might get one in time.
-
Beat Breath of the WIld
-
So Nintendo just dropped a huge bomb today. Anyone see?
-
I did not. Whatever they did, it didn't make the front page of the two gaming websites I look at almost daily. What did they do?
-
Super smash announcement for switch. YouTube is flooded with reaction videos of the trailer. Mine inclided
-
I used to love the original Super Smash Bro. :)
-
I'm so excited for the new smash game ;D
-
Does look like a good game I only played the older versions.
-
Havent owned a Nintendo since the old days. Lost interest in their lack of games but i used to love Super Smash. I hope it is a success for them.

Nintendo today released NINTENDO ONLINE. A service that made the once free internet now cost $20 bucks a year for users. Yes, you heard right. No extra features... but now Nintendo is using "NINTENDO ONLINE" the name, to charge all users money for what they already had for free.
"The Switch console launched in March 2017 with free online multiplayer mode for select titles, but while gamers could link up over the internet, features were stripped down compared to experiences typically available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Users could previously enjoy online competition in a game like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe without extra costs, and some gamers will no doubt be disappointed to learn that's no longer the case. The new service is launching with a seven-day free trial. After that, members will need a subscription, which costs either $4 a month, $8 for three months, or $20 per year. Nintendo has always trailed behind Sony and Microsoft when it comes to online gaming and services, and that will continue to hold true even with the introduction of Nintendo Switch Online.
Nintendo's handling of voice chat with its new service is baffling. Instead of players being able to run voice communications directly through a Switch console and a headset, users must download a mobile app and connect a headset through their smartphone or tablet. That's a clunky and confusing setup"
So far it is commonly said the new system is laggy and cuts sound.

"A Decade Late and Without Key Features, Nintendo Is Finally Online Nintendo’s late arrival is being met with jeers, not cheers, by large swathes of the gaming community. Users have had 18 months to trial the service for free and the response has been decidedly negative. Lacking must-have features for today’s multiplayer titles, such as in-game chat, consumers are slamming the platform as frustrating to use, susceptible to cheating and prone to connectivity issues. With the all-important holiday season riding on the success of online brawler Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, analysts say improving the network is more critical than ever.
The paid service officially kicked off on Wednesday. Nintendo declined to comment for this story or respond to criticisms of the Switch Online service."

Well this will disappoint people when they get to the end of the video.
-
RIP
-
That was an April fools joke
-
Which hurt me it did.
ALso reviving this topic since we have a few new members. If any of yall out there got a switch, friendcode me!

Anyone pick up one and/or both of the new pokemon games? I've been playing since Blue came out so I'm pleased to have picked up Shield myself today.
-
I've been thinking about it, though there are also tons of other games I want to pick up too, so I've been trying to moderate myself.
I have to say I absolutely love the Scottish Pokemon Trainer memes, though those aren't exactly new at this point.
-
Honestly, it's even better playing it since the dialogue is very UK slang and variations. It's great ;D and honestly, I love how far the landscape design has come, it's so green and wonderful.
-
I picked up sword myself @Zuki

I'm enjoying the hell out of it. Went with Sobble as my starter.

You fool what about scorebunny https://twitter.com/Sky_Blue_Ninja/status/1195338766124122112?s=19
-
There have been various people on YouTube that have completed the games in videos. There is a lot of good things and some legitimate complaints with a few things, but overall there are more nice things than negative things from what I have seen so far.
I have gotten Shield. I just barely started the game. I like how there is a Budew Pokémon right in the yard of the player’s house. Budew is an interesting Pokémon to me because of past pokedex entries about it.
Also the scientist assistant has a sweet design. I like how one of the rivals, Marnie, also gets some attention in the game. The designs of gym leaders surprised me this generation. Both sword and shield have multiple unique gym leaders in their games.
My starter I picked is...a mystery XD

A break down of some alarming signs coming from Nintendo. Lagging behind in content, worst internet abilities, and now a grown micro transaction scene on their poorly reviewed mobile games. The fear is Nintendo will bring micro transactions over to their console games. They've always started for the first time making paid DLC for games.
Worth a watch if you like this company I guess.
-
Bit late to this but I went with scorbunny and being honest it's either me or the game was easy to do flew straight threw it still fun regardless though
-
I've been playing Link's Awakening, seems like a really good remake although I haven't played the original. I love the visual style. As a Platinum Games fan, I had to get Astral Chain but it's a bit of a disappointment, I don't really like the setting or the characters very much although it's a pretty good game. Also, I haven't finished Octopath traveler yet but I plan to, I've really enjoyed it so far.
-
How long would you say it should take to beat Links Awakening?

How long would you say it should take to beat Links Awakening?
If you're asking me then sorry but I have no idea. :) I'm probably not even very far in that game yet.

Nintendo What Are You Doing? The gaming Internet world is shattering with Nintendo's Zelda redesign and Inklings... and people are getting more and more confused. Nintendo is sexualizing their characters more and more. Will everyone's favorite plumber get a six pack? Have some ridiculous videos below.
Why is Nintendo turning away from their innocent and younger demographic with these more mature designs?
-
If anyone wants to play Mario Kart or Maro golf or other games on the Switch feel free to hit me up, love playing with new people
