Everfree Northwest? That is the last remaining original big PONY event in the country. I'm so glad they are gonna be going into G5 too.
The news about this is so conflicted. Originally it us getting a full length movie, which then got shadow-realmed to being just a streaming services movie. :( There was also going to be a tv series. Will this still be a tv series or will it be completely different characters again with a lesser quality CGI?
Here is my two cents:
I just finished watching this and i must say i'm pleasantly surprised of it. Still the 3D style rubs me the wrong way as i have so much higher respect fo the 2D art and especially 2D animation. But i'm not sure how to feel about this, but honestly i think atleast in story point of view, this one was much better than the G4 movie.
I actually enjoyed watching this and sure there was bit of places where you can predict what's going on, but not as much as in the G4 movie, which i do also like dont get me wrong, just the story was much too predictable.
So for me, if they took the art style from the G4 movie and took the story from the G5 movie, it would have been absolutely 10/10 thou i would prefer a little bit less singing or atleast make it shorter, i've never really been much of a friend of musicals and there is only so much singing i can handle, but atleast the songs were'nt anything too annoying, just kinda forgetable. I honestly cant remember any of the songs that well and i dont think i will be looking for them either, i'll just go back to my G4 playlist.

Great movie! :D I really found it entertaining and enjoyed the characters. Some bits were rushed for time, but I hope the series can be more thoughtful and lore building like the movie. It could go in a whole new direction from girly girly to adventure and lore-heavy!
I hope they don't look similar to the G3 style ponies, but i fear they will since that is a more similar look to the G5 variants if done in 2D. I would really like them to be hand drawn G4 style, like the movie, or a very well done hand-animated flash/harmony style. Here's to hoping it will be good! :D

Aside from that, I can say I like the 3D G5 artstyle much more than 2D. Izzy is a real eye candy for me, and I like how all their ears are animated ;D. But one moment, where dragon bites the slice of cake several times and the 3D-model of this slice remains untouched, looks really cringy.
As for the plot, there are several ideas taken from G4. You may instantly bring them back when you see something similar in fresh new episodes ::|.

I like how the pollen appears around the flowers, although the face play and the voice acting are pretty dull if compare with G4 ;D.
FiM / G4 set the bar very high. You cannot replicate it. They will have to create something new that ascends on it's own two legs. Not off the backs of G4's success.

Not everyone wants character development all the time and not everyone wants lighthearted all the time. There is a balance. It's why some shows do lighthearted and some do lore heavy. Some mix between the two.
Hence why many people stopped watching MLP between Season 5 to 6 which lead to the Brony fandom to decline in the first place.

People complain. You can't ever please everyone, but this was not the downfall of the fandom as you claim. The fandom hasn't gone away. It's still around and still strong or else there wouldn't be hundred's of conventions around the world still. It wouldn't be a multi-million dollar franchise every year still.
Everything you listed, yeah, people complain about things, but the series ended naturally. It had nothing to do with the fandom or character development. The show had run it's course and Hasbro was ready to invest in something else. The story of the Mane 6 had been told, hence why they added the Young Six.
Go to any MLP forum or subreddit and you don't see complaints as you claim. You see people loving the show and the memories they had. You also see people diving deep into character's and storylines trying to understand more or critique things. A critique is not a complaint.

I don't even know where you can find comics online, so I am not even sure if they can be found cheaply.
I bet you can find bundles on ebay from someone selling their collection.
So I guess this is it for this show. It's done now, right? So we are gonna wait on Gen 6?
