I see some YouTubers already have the upcoming ATS map expansion in early access.
It’s a major spoiler, but if you want to see Louisiana DLC map, you can look here — of course, the size is no match for Nordic Horizons, but the density of road network is impressive ;D.

They are running out of big states.  I have no idea how they are going to handle the smaller eastern states, especially the northeast.  My guess is they will have to change the scale for this part of the country.

^Change the scale or not, but the states themselves will probably be sold in bundles... If continue to make the next states only as separate DLCs, it would be a big complication of the game code. Also, the number of ATS DLCs is going to match this number for ETS, with all its paintjob packs ;D.

Driving through a state like Delaware would probably take 30 seconds to drive through.  So yeah, they will have to rescale and sell in bundles.  Like an entire Northeast DLC.

This is possibly the reason we don’t have Andorra and Liechtenstein in ETS ;D.

It would be weird to have ATS just ignore having Connecticut, Delaware, and Rhode Island.  They've made it such a big deal to have every state.  To just ignore some states would be unfortunate.

This Nordic Horizons DLC is easily my favorite DLC of ETS2. It's massive.  You can spend so much time here, just driving and exploring. It's beautiful.

SURPRISE! LOUISIANA is out today! December 4th, 2025!  It honestly snuck up on me!  This is the Cruising Louisiana Event video with all the rules and rewards.

From the far north of Europe to far south of USA in just a week!
I was thinking what should I use for exploring the new state... until they showed the video with yellow Peterbilt. So, yellow Peterbilt it is ;D.

(of course, I would like to see Model 589 in the game already. I hope we will see it next year)

UPD:
As a big contrast with Nordic Horizons, here the cities discovering achievement was unlocked on the third delivery ::).

I like this location in Baton Rouge — if you catch the train, you can capture the four ways of transportation in one photo. In a couple of minutes from it, there are a good example of negligent city services — the left turn traffic light can be normally seen (from the lane it is intended, of course) only in the night, when it illuminates everything around ;D.

Speaking of flying machines — behold, the second Starfighter in *TS universe (after Greek one), this time on a stick. I am not surprised we see an American fighter jet in Europe first — after all, we still don’t have that small Bell helicopter as ATS cargo, while Europeans are able to carry it for almost ten years.

That painting on the wall made me stop and look one more time, since the cook’s white smile have reminded me the creepy comics by that Spanish artist . But no, the second look made me sure it’s totally different style.

Great updates! I didn't see any discount on the game DLC for owners this time, but SCS went all in this time.  They have a massive Truck Sim Bundle with different versions to get people into the game.  So that's cool.

So green... and so flat ;D.
I believe SD and BC promise to be much much more interesting.

I drove into Missouri.  Ready to drive into Louisiana tonight!

I am loving Nordic Horizons.  I'd say I've explored about 40%, all in the south. Still moving north.

So, this time it took 19 deliveries for 6140 miles to discover the 81% of a new state. Also, I already have two full garages there — it’s funny, but the proportion is valid even here ;D. NH are 1.5 times more expensive than Louisiana, have roughly 1.6 times more roads to drive (despite the overall map size is much bigger), and I have bought 1.5 more garages and vehicles during my exploration tour.
Anyway, I like the ETS map expansion more — just as the previous two years as well ;D. Six years ago, Utah and Washington were more impressive than the Road to the Black Sea, while Idaho and Colorado gave some bigger variety of landscapes than Iberia had. But ETS DLCs from 2023 and 2024 had definitely more beautiful scenery than four flat states added to ATS at that time. Even if I like the masterfully done ports (with huge gas tankers!), swampy and coastal areas of Louisiana, the mountains and coastal part of Norway impresses me more.

As for the next map expansions, I believe British Columbia has a good chance to overshine Iceland and Ireland.

Louisiana feels TINY.  Like it's truly small.  We are starting to feel the tiny size of the scaling in my opinion.  I like it and they have some weird road networks.  But I do love Nordic Horizons.  It's size and scale is perfect.
