Of course, in addition to normal semi-trailers, it would be nice to add the rigid chassis with a hook arm:
You don’t need to change your rigid truck if you want to change normal container for a scrap metal box :D

Buuuut... I think SCS’s plans for adding new vehicles will include only tractors and trailers, at least until all brands will be covered.

UPD:
So, that new WS 49X now is available only with daycab*, one interior and one chassis length, more advanced cabs will be added later:
I already like its «horned» roof shape and black-and-yellow optional front bumper. And I love how SCS added it not only as a drivable vehicle, but also as a cargo similar to triple T680’s.
So... tomorrow will be a testing day!

*actually, I drive daycabs ~90% of total game hours, so it’s not such a big deal for me ;D.

Yes!  The Western Star is available.  Making it a day cab will be controversial maybe for people who do long trips (though I am sure you can still sleep at rest stops in the game).  Every truck I have ever owned in ETS2 and ATS have had sleepers attached.

I still believe than sleeper cabs will be added soon, and I hope that SCS will continue to make two completely different sleeper sizes (like it was with Lonestar and Anthem), and will not follow the «daycab-biggest sleeper with low roof-biggest sleeper with high roof» pattern, like it was with T680 and VNL.
What else I like in new truck — unlike Mack, it has a 600hp engine option, and mirrors aren’t too wide, so you don’t need to set your FOV at 90+ degrees ;D. The navigation panel is huge, it even surprised me.
One thing I really miss is an abscence of optional retarder for any gearboxes — maybe it’s not popular in USA IRL, but I always buy it because it has more stopping power than engine brake, which is handy when you have a long descent with a heavy load.

I don't want to spend the money on the new Western Star yet, but I really want to try it.

So what are it's pros and cons?

I see Tim liked the 600hp but others disliked the lack of cabs.

Hmm...
Aren’t trucks DLCs free?

I meant that I don't have the money in-game to buy the truck to drive it. I do have the money.... but it's too much to make me feel good about spending that much of my company's assets.

Well, I would like to have a credit in that case, of course, if you don’t exceed your 500k limit yet .

==============================================================

So, buying a garage in Portland before new truck announcement was a nice idea because they made WS’s base in that city:

Of course, there was a little disappointment in abscence of trucks for delivery at the moment I came there at first time, but I believe that cargo will be there next time — at least, I was able to take that order from Stockton’s dealer right after the game was updated.
As I said earlier, the mirrors stick out much less than on Anthem, and a bit less than on Lonestar and 389 (my FOV on 49X is 86°), and numbers near cruise control icon are decently readable on my 1080p@27", although speedometer and tachometer are more difficult to read.
The blue beeping box is no more installed on the bottom (yes, I don’t want to see the steering wheel from Actros MP4 in American truck :P), which I like much more.

Low trailers like food tank match to the daycab’s height pretty well, so if the unpainted part of that tank was chromed, that couple would look really awesome.

And I see they started to make lists of compatible parts — in addition to «wide front tyre only for special wheel» (unlike ETS2, when you can fit 315/70 and 385/65 tyres on the same rim) from the previous small update, you can install DT12 gearbox only with DD engine.

What about real cons of 49X — everyone noticed that it has sound pack from another star-named truck ;D, but this time the developer has a real excuse for not being able to travel to Portland for a sound recording session (the one mentioned a month ago was much closer and people-free).

I will buy the new Western Star when it has a sleeper attached.  My whole trucking company is long haul stuff.  :-\  I do want to try the Detroit Diesel.

I might try to find a "quick contract" to drive the truck.  I will buy one when they offer a sleeper cabin with it.

So, here we have another Saturday post: Low Bed and Low Loader Trailers.
Yesss, yesss. I can clearly see completely new wheels on that trailers, also, chains and straps are detailed very nice. Last time it was three weeks betwen first 1.38 announcement and beta release, I hope this time everything will be the same ;D.

P.S. I can’t resist to urge to make that screenshot ;D:

Some people said they saw the new truck among the traffic, but I didn’t met it yet. I believe it was just a mirage ;D and traffic models will be added later (as usual).

SCS is really liking these Saturday updates now.  Lol! All good news.

Also I see your new Western Star 49x is red.  I think you like that color. ;)

Like it was with ETS2 1.33 and ATS 1.35, they started the beta testing with an «experimental» remark, so the list of features may grow in the next couple of weeks ;D.
Now that list is pretty short, but I am still excited about new lowboys and some special prefab spotted in game files ;D. Also, as the testers say, the missing retarder for 49X is already here. And... judging from the estimated amount of time for the testing, I think it is a big chance that the full version of this update will come out at the beginning of November... with new map expansion!
P.S. They gave an interesting shortcut for a new trailer:

I wonder what word is it :D.

1.39 sounds good, though on the smaller side.  But what interested me is the launch page changes and what possible changes SCS has in store for the game.

Iberia DLC is looking good.  Road signs don't look right though.  Maybe they are placeholders?
