Iberia is looking really good. I usually wait for a sale to get new expansions, but I've been playing a lot of ETS2 recently and I'm tempted to buy it.

As a sidenote, I was playing it yesterday, and it was a little surreal going from Germany to France through the original Belgium map.

I had the same experience.  The new Germany is much better than it was.... but Belgium... yeesh. :D  I feel bad for SCS having to update all the old areas, but I an thankful they are doing that.  Most companies wouldn't or just push a new "ETS3" on us and make us pay full price.

That is why SCS map DLC's are the only DLC's I buy full price to support the company.  I will buy Wyoming and Iberia as soon as they release.  It is that money that helps fund them to do all these wonderful changes.

The latest Wyoming  update photos look superb!

You have a good point about supporting SCS. They don't get money directly from updating the base maps or rewriting the lighting engine. Not to mention all the trucks they include for free. I have bought some of them for full price, I just tend to limit what I spend money on.

Some Iberian spoilers:
Spoiler (hover to show)
One Russian reviewer has shown the full map of this DLC («open image» for full-size):

I can say that the percentage of highways is higher than in every map released before, and the map is pretty dense. The same with a number of cities — just compare it with Utah or New Mexico DLC. And we have four ferry ports (Santander and Bilbao are connected with Plymouth, Barcelona — with Marseille and Corsica, Valencia route goes somewhere to Italy DLC map). Combine this with a third stage of Germany revamp, and you will see a massive amount of work — earlier DLC’s like Going East or Scandinavia (the latter looks amazing, but is very small) are no match to this.
Of course, I have seen a lot of complains like «where are the secondary roads? >:(», and I would answer «In Romania and Baltic ;D». To be honest, I was very pleased than the first time since 2017 we will get a DLC where you don’t need to crawl across the whole map at 50-70-50 km/h because there are not a single alternative route.
So, I am fully agreed that they deserve to have our support, even if the price of DLCs will become higher.

I have every single map DLC and some of the other paint job DLCs, but the ones that aren't maps I usually pick up on sale.

As for the spoiler map, I am excited.  I like smaller roads too, but lets be honest, we usually just the motorways. :

Does anyone here leave detours enabled? I like the idea of it, but with the way the maps are it just usually adds an insane amount of time to a job since there's typically only one exit to where you need to go.

Honestly, I didn’t like the idea from the start, so I didn’t enable it. The same with fatigue simulation — I was fed up with it in the first 18 WoS game ;D.

I actually do have detours enabled, but it's at it's lowest setting.  I had to look it up because I've never had to do a detour in the game.  I'm surprised I've never encountered one.

I'm sure I will be angry when it happens someday and I have to drive halfway across the map to go around it, lol.

Like ‘2017 facelift of DAF 106, the new features are available as tuning options, so we can easily turn our old T’s into evolved ones ;D. I can say I like new headlights more than old ones, and more than extremely narrow headlights from 2020 version of Volvo FH (I think the latter will come ETS in a similar way — as a set of accessories* ;D), also, the flowing turn signals came into truck world as well. As for navigator — I think it’s a long awaited decision to install the smartphone/tablet (from the Cabin Accessories DLC) mount instead of selling the expensive non-interchangeable device with smaller screen. The renewed T has been added to traffic in addition to existing one right from the start.
Spoiler (hover to show)
(and, surprisingly for me, there was almost no complaining in the comments under this blog post, maybe the main complainers just haven’t wake up yet. Or maybe they leave their whining on forums, where I have seen a lot of posts like «there is only a face lift, not a new truck!»)
Anyway, the main event of this week (or... last half of the year?) is still ahead :D.

*well, the same may be with newest Actros. Although, new MAN TGX is completely new, but it’s unclear, when it will arrive ::|.

I am sure we will get complainers.  Renault always get's their detractors in the comments no matter what, lol.

I think this is great!  A nice evolution of the design, sort of a teardrop on the headlights and some other minor changes.

In less than a day we can be driving sun drenched roads besides towering cliffs and sandy beaches. :)

I turned it off.  Never wanted to have to take super long detours.  I love driving... but not when the detour is 400 plus miles off route.  That is just a waste of time.

So, what are your first impressions? ;D From my side, that extra work still eats my time, so I can drive more than one-two hours only on weekends. But even a short ride can tell me that this land looks really different :-0.

Corsica and the southern parts of Italy and France look much more greener. And of course, that dense highway network allows you to move much faster than in Romania or Baltic ;D, also, in some parts of the map the tool booths are almost absent (but Barcelona outskirts have them a lot), so you don’t need to stop every five minutes. Since Spain and Portugal allow to buy Scandinavian double trailers, now we have an oportunity to take extra cargo into 4000+ km ride, which can bring 330-350 thousand Euros (at my level 29). BTW, I see the price of DLC is not so high, from 17,99 to even 6,66  Euros for some regions. What else about the scenery? Unlike Going East! map, where are a lot of yellow fields with you-know-what ;), Spain has plenty of brown fields with nothing ;D.

Oh, and I see SCS still likes to make long detours in cities, so when you want to buy a garage in Sevilla, it’s hard to do without a navigator ;D:
