What,  no KFC? My mom had some grilled chicken there for lunch (it's not on the menu, but you can special-order it), which took forever to get to our table, and she said it was a bit greasy. I'm like, "Well, the word "fried' is right in the name." They are one of the few places to not carry a heart-smart menu or healthy alternatives.  Me, I gored through three pieces of extra-crispy, a huge pile of fried chicken gizzards, breaded okra balls, a mountain of mashed potatoes,  a serving of corn, and two desserts.

Now if you want chicken but are in a hurry, there's Hollywood Market (fomerly Yellow Bird). Hard Hat also carries pretty good strips and taters.

For Mexican fast food Taco Bell is fine, but for a real sit-down dinner try Las Brisas or El Acapulco. I recommend the stuffed burrito or the yolandas, with that creamy white cheese sauce.

My family has dubbed Grecian Steak House "Greasy" Steak house for a reason.  Barely passable meatloaf, the meat is like chawing on a hank of old shoe leather, and everything on the menu has more grease on it than a cathouse full of of Greek sailors.

You know you're in the South when the Chinese place serves breaded okra and fried green tomatoes next to the lo mein and fried rice.  There's two local buffets I like. Now, one's in a pretty lousy neighborhood, but I say the coconut shrimp's worth getting your ass whupped for.  Plus, I don't know who General Tso was, but I gotta say, he made a damn fine dish of chicken.

Burger Broil has long waits and their onion rings are just dried minced onion flakes stuck together with batter. I don't even know if they're still in business-- haven't eaten there since high-school.

And for dessert, I gotta give props to Jeri-Lynn's Doughnuts.  They've moved across the street to bigger digs in the old bowling alley since my day, but I hear they still serve a wonderful cherry Bismarck and a mean lemon kettle.

Oh wow, yeah, this list forgot Kentucky Fried Chicken!  Way to go, APD. ;)

Thanks for giving shout outs to all those local joints too, Nostradamus!  They thank you!

I like the fresh ingredients and fresh salsa and sauce from Taco Time.  It costs more, but it is actual ingredients you can see.

Taco Time is pretty bomb.  I wish it wasn't more money, but it is good quality.  I am actually looking at beef or chicken or beans.  Not . . . not seasoned beef sludge (which I also like).

Oh yes, the wonderful symbolic acoustics of butt pumping bean munchers is wonderful.

I'm going to have some Taco Time today.

Y'know, uttering the the name of that restaurant could probably give a gal a bad reputation.

Besides the sumptuous food, our local Chinese buffet also offers some interesting graffiti in the men's room.  Some guy drew a crude  penis on the wall.  Another person then wrote, "If that is what your dick looks like, then you need serious medical help" and proceeded to draw a much more detailed penis next to it, anatomically correct down to the last hair, for everyone's elucidation. So I guess dining out can also be educational....

Oh jeez.  Sounds like we have some interesting restaurants.  I've never eaten at Five Guys.  But if that sounds like an unfortunate name, Seattle and Spokane have two separate landmark burger joints called, "Dick's."  They are national famous for their burgers.

"Dick's"?
Would it happen to be "Dick's Last Resort" I think the name was?

There's one in San Antonio, my uncle played some music there once, was real fun. Besides that, I don't remember much because I was a bit young, but from what I hear/remember, the employees are very purposely rude (in a playful-ish way.).

I also do remember liking the food.

That's right up there with those old Carl's Jr. ads with hot chicks eating huge sloppy burgers and looking for all the world like they were in a porno flick. The estimable Paris Hilton performed in one particularly memorable spot, where you don't even see the burger--she just washes a car in next to nothing for a full minute.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQE-DXsozg8

Not to be outdone, Jack-In-The-Box came out with their own sandwich, and ad  to promote it, presumably in a bid to appeal to the female demographic.

It's ... uh... not quite as as sexy.  The guy looks like he just noshed on a big steaming cow patty.    :-[

I went there maybe... five years ago now, when my family took a trip to Baltimore. I was just put on a gluten-free diet at the time and unfortunately they didn't have much in the way of accommodation, so my experience was less than stellar. The food I got wasn't horrible, it was just okay.
