"Half-Breed" was the title of an old Cher song. No racism intended, I feel it fair to note.
I had indeed quite forgotten that! Thank you for pointing it out.
When Obama won the second time, I didn't see Republican's go and riot. How come it is always the liberal left, college aged, usually no jobs, running out and rioting? Do they have nothing better to do? Probably not.
You... literally just answered your own question :P
More generally, the liberals need to stop moaning and take this result on-board. Cthulhu may always swim left, but he is meant to do so /slowly/.
I do not find the butthurt glorious. It's too early to condemn them for failing to listen -- they're going through the grieving process and are unlikely to update their beliefs for the next few weeks or months. But I really do hope the butthurt tapers off after then. It is possible to have an egalitarian, even globalized, society, and this will lead to the greatest net global utility. But all politics is local, and the liberal establishment need to get it through their heads that some additional protectionist measures are quite reasonable to soften the rate of change for the most vulnerable members of the existing Western middle and lower-middle classes.
My 3-step plan for the DNC:
1. Knock off the holier-than-thou bullshit. No one wants to listen to that, and guess what: they're not listening. Stop tarring the protectionists with the same brush as the immigration minimalists, and stop tarring them with the same brush as the nativists and the racists. When you do, you look hysterical. Neurotic. And you reach nobody who isn't already singing with the choir.
2. Consider some more protectionism in your policy mix. It's feels absurd to need to tell this to *the left*, but apparently we do. No need to throw Wall St under the bus, but get them to heel.
3. Radically democratize your institutions, or at least make a hearty show of doing so. Why do you feel the need to connive and play dirty favorites in your primaries? What the heck is up with super-delegates? With any luck, this will also help avoid scandal-magnet Pres candidates.
You're welcome, DNC. You may make the check out to the PSF.
(4. This one's for both sides: stop stacking SCOTUS with partisan toadies. Everyone should agree to nominate moderate, committed jurists with a robust constitutional bent. And then SCOTUS should try as hard as possible to avoid making law. Certainly, they already ~try~, but I think they could try a lot harder.)
(Wow, I'm so good at solving these long-standing problems! To continue my good work, I'll be heading to Gaza in the morning.)
