Washington you can move up to Forks and see sparkling vampires.  Also you can go to Twin Peaks like that show.

There is also Gravity Falls in Oregon.

California is so politically different in each region.  North is diff then the south.  Coastal is diff then inland.  It could easily be broken up.

Financially... the worst state and worst prepared for everything would be California.

But I would say the worst western state is New Mexico because how badly Albuquerque sucks as a city.  Crime hell hole.

I would say California would be pretty okay. It's a really nice place, and they're kicking ass in the economic field, but they might also drown in the ocean, or die in an earthquake so

I will say Utah is a beautiful state visually. 

You got from red rocks in the south to snowy capped peaked in the north.
