Hey, Blurr, you know what would be efficient for newcomers? If you also edited your first post and added each new page as they came out. That way people don't have to go through a bunch of pages just to find the next page, the first comment would be like an index. Anyway, onto this comic page.
>Kills a pony. >No emotional response.
You know, contrary to popular belief, killing someone tends to f*ck you up for life. And even in movies, the stoic killers are people who've done this over and over again that they've become numb. Or, were stoic to begin with, and keep all their emotions inside. If this truly is Pyro's first time killing someone, even if it was to avenge his mom, he wouldn't not show emotion at killing another pony. He clearly shows complete rage when he attacks, and is bawling at the sight of his dying mother, but doesn't at all emote when he kills that soldier? Not even a horrified expression at what he just did? No? Even if the soldier just killed his mom, he still killed someone, he took someone's life. that in itself is a horribly traumatizing experience, especially for a child.
The art as usual is really good, the second panel and the panel where the soldier is shot with the fireball especially stand out to me. Just great expression, and body movement, respectively. Silverwing's style of drawing eyes really works here, big ol' expressive eyes.
A little odd the mom tells him to go on when she seems to just be shot in the belly, actually pretty close to the flank. She should still be able to walk, albeit super painfully. You know, as surprising as it may be, if you wanted her to not die instantly, a shot to the heart wouldn't have done that. Deer have been known to be shot in the heart with bullets and still be able to run away a few meters before collapsing. This is even true of people. So if she'd been shot in the chest, she still would have been able to give her last dying words telling Pyro to run away and leave her. Though, Bubba did get shot in the stomach area too and he couldn't walk, but then again, he had already lost a lot of blood and it was upper torso, so likely the liver was also hit. But whatever, I guess plot. Anyway, off topic.
That lack of death tag. I think I hear Tumblerina's "reeeing" in the distance because they've been triggered XD It greatly amuses me.
