This question came from me sitting in the break room talking with people. Where do you like to shop for stuff? Food, clothes, nicknacks, patty-wacks, whatever it is.
-
I like target, hot topic, toys r us, game stop, and various others
-
Okay, so I like Target, Trader Joe's, Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond, Pier 1 Imports, Fred Meyer/Kroger, Nordstrom, Macy's, JC Pennys, and Grocery Outlet because I can find random stuff there!
-
I like Trader Joe's. I find them a good price for good quality on most stuff.
Costco is pretty awesome if I had a Costco card.
-
I used to LOVE shopping at borders but then they went out of business
-
Well.. I don't like shopping, but when I do go out I usually hit Costco or Target for groceries. Hot Topic's pretty cool for fandom shirts/hats though, I also like pretty much any sporting goods store haha
-
Hot Topic is where my deadpool hoodie came from. As seen here.

-
Ohohoho! That is awesome! I want it!
-
It's at Hot Topic
-
*zips to Hot Topic and back* I know.. I'm already wearing it 8)
-
Hehe. Nice. They also have other characters
-
Of course they do! Hot Topic is like the Walmart for all fandom geeks
-
Indeed. They just really slimmed down on pony stuff
-
Hot Topic I go to shop for my nerd stuff.
And 5 Below is cool too.
-
And oh my gosh I noticed that to!
They've cut back a bit with the pony merch. Oh well.
-
Spencers and Hot Topic. I look at both of those for pony merch.
-
Spencer's has pony merch?
I thought they just sold dildos and stuff.
-
They have weird shit, but I don't think I've seen a dildo there. (Then again, i don't really go in there)
-
It's weird. My friend says there's dildo bins in there, and walls of dildos. But every time I went in there as a kid, the worst I'd find were cards that had swearing on them. But then again, this Spencer's was in a mall, so maybe that's why.
-
I don't go into either of the two shops you guys are talking about.
-
I don't go into either of the two shops you guys are talking about.
Besides getting a few Funko ponies, I never step foot into either of those places either.
-
I don't go out much in general. Gamestop is like...the only place I go to. And even then I haven't been there in a while.
-
Why do people like Gamestop so much for games? When I go, they always give me a thin, beat up box, then find some disc from their bin and shove it in the box.
When I buy a game, I want it to be wrapped nice and new in the plastic it came in, with the CD inside. Non of this pre-opened jazz that Gamestop always seems to do. Plus, they tend to be a tad bit more money. I am talking pennies here.
-
I used to LOVE shopping at borders but then they went out of business
I used to frequent Borders Books and Barnies & Noble. Now I only got the latter. :-/ Book stores are disappearing and I hate that.
-
Well like.... that's for pre-owned stuff I think.
-
Spencers yes has 18+ stuff. Hot Topic doesnt
-
Well like.... that's for pre-owned stuff I think.
I've bought new games there twice. I bring the box up to the counter, and the person gives me the new game, not wrapped. I'm like all, "what the faschnizzle?!"
So now I just go wherever to buy games. Best Buy, Walmart, Target, whatever...
-
I hate that too!
Bookstores are disappearing. But Barnes and Nobles seems pretty safe.
Gamestop does have plastic wrapped games. The new ones. Only the used ones have empty boxes that the cashiers put the game in when you buy it.

*Foams at the mouth and flips out.*

Whaaaaaat?? Dude that ain't cool, yo.
-
Damn, Grape. What Gamestops you be going to?
-
Well, lets see. One, two, three,..... probably more then ten different ones. But again, I don't really buy stuff there. I browse. i kinda kick the tires.
-
I think the backmost part of Spencer's is where the dirty stuff is housed.
As for me... some places I really enjoy shopping include Five Below, Barnes and Noble, Hot Topic, FYE, Target, Costco, GameStop, and the Disney Store. There's also a cute little book swap by my summer home that I LOVE browsing. I also enjoy visiting Toys R. Us, though I haven't made a purchase there in years.
-
Hmm, interesting. Gamestop at my mall occasionally has Pop Figures.

I can't forget all the cool ma and pa stores too! There are many great small book stores I like.
-
I used to buy shit at gamestop all the time. I still have my rewards pro card
-
Nice.
ma and pa?
Massachusetts and Pennsylvania?
-
Ma' and Pa' shops. Mom and Dad shops. Small shops. Small business. Main Street America.
-
Nice.
ma and pa?
Massachusetts and Pennsylvania?
Ma and Pa stores usually refer to local stores that aren't chains
-
I try to support local shops over the chains. I did that before it was cool. ;)
-
Oooh.
Okay I get it.
-
There aren't a lot of mom and pop video game stores here in fresno
-
I've never heard of that term though. Where do you live Grape? Maybe it's just a saying there?
-
There is a store called That's Entertainment by where I am. HUGE place filled with every nerds desires....
Except a girlfriend :P
-
It's a saying everywhere, River. A lot of places have em.
And BUUUUUUUURN
-
Wow, I guess I just haven't heard of it.
Yes, I'm the burn master :P
-
/me calls upon his pyrokinetic OC
-
Oh come on!

-
Yea, shoo shoo.
-
Alright. *draws sword.* Let's do this
-
En guarde! *pulls out light saber* Wait what...
-
I'm not a fan of shopping, but I do love shopping for games at Gamestop.
-
/me tosses sword and pulls out yellow lightsaber

Now we've hijacked the shopping thread.
We're awful XP
-
we've hijacked almost every thread on here.
-
We gotta stop DX
-
Yeah. Ok. I'm good with that
-
Now lets see...
For clothes I go to Macy's. They got nice clothe, especially the clearance rack.
-
I've never really bought clothes of my own. Sometimes I do, but I do it at Khols
-
My family never bought clothes at Khols... sometimes we bought pajamas at Walmart.
-
My mom has a khols card so she always looks for a bargain
-
Ohh, nice. My mom has a Macy's card haha.
-
Rememebr Gottschalks?
-
What?
-
It was a big clothing store like Macys. But it went out of business a decade or so ago
-
Oh, huh. That's sad.
-
Mervyns was another business that went to the wayside.
-
Yup. I remember that. People used to use the empty buildings as laser tag or airsoft arenas
-
Really? Never heard of this place either.
-
is the city you live in big?
-
Really? Never heard of this place either.
I think it is a west coast thing. Gotta represent!
-
Perhaps
-
The forum is mostly west coast :P
-
Except for you
-
And Paws, and I'm guessing Erudi since they're close enough to visit each other.
-
Oh yeah
-
But yeah. Most of you are over there.
-
West coast best coast
-
Nevah! East Coast be trippin'.
-
east coast least coast
-
Nuuuu
-
ahh I kid. You guys have new york and disneyworld...and toronto
-
I think we have Toronto?...
But yeah, East Coast can be cool too
-
Toronto is on the eastern time zone
-
Ah. Okay.
-
I thought it was more center of Canada
-
It's on the province of Ontario. The eastern most part of Canada
-
Oooh, okay cool
-
It's on the province of Ontario. The eastern most part of Canada
Wow! I can't let that crime against geography go by unpunished. Ontario is considered to be eastern Canada, yes. But Ontario is not the eastern most province. You have Quebec, Newfound and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia, all being further east.
-

Yup! Erudi's in NYC.
-

I applaud you.
-
Wow, Smiles. Laying down the smack! Haha. Makes me wonder, are you from Canada?
And that's cool, Paws! I'm from good 'ol Joisy.
-
Smiles doesn't like failures in geography. ;)
-
I kinda suck at geography.
-
Geography was one of my better subjects
-
Really? They never really taught us that in school. Or maybe they did and it wasn't called geography.
-
They taught it to me
-
Wow, Smiles. Laying down the smack! Haha. Makes me wonder, are you from Canada?

As am I. ;) That's why we're able to meet up! I visit her a lot more often in the city than she comes to visit me, but it happens.
-
Wow, nice!
Wait so, your parents let you guys visit each other even though you met online?
Or did you know each other before?
-
Well I don't go out I'm an indoor type.
-
Does anyone here buy Amazon's AMAZON PRIME? Do you feel it is worth it?
Anyone order groceries through AmazonFresh?
-
I use Amazon on occasion. Mostly for my school book. My dad uses EBay for random things he needs for his car and stuff.
-
Wow, nice!

Oh wow, I never replied to this. x'D I'm sorry! Yeah, my parents let us meet up in the city even though we met online. I think THE night we met we added each other on Facebook and I told my mom all about her. Then, when the Broadway Flea Market was coming up in NYC and Erudi asked me about going, we Skyped with each other (with our parents present) just to make sure we were securing plans and meeting real people.
I'd met an online friend of mine from Arizona who vacations near where I live way back in 2010, so it wasn't like this was the first time I was meeting up with someone I had met on the Internet.
-
Wow, that's pretty amazing! You're parents must be pretty open and stuff, my parents would have a heart attack if I tried meeting with someone I met online (and they did). They never asked how exactly you two met? I would be pretty nervous if they asked me that haha.
-

*A an exaggerated parental voice that drawls.*
Now, now... lil LP, you can't go meeting PEOPLE you don't know on the computer! It's dangerous! They could kick sand in your face and make you very sad. They aren't REAL friends. They are PEOPLE!! Evil people from TV's shows on NBC that got canceled because you can only catch a predator so many times. Now no talking to people online and trying to meet them. Now excuse me while father trusts people on EBAY and Craigslist, because Daddy needs a new SHIFTER NOB for his automobile.
-
Lol XD
Dying, but that's actually pretty accurate. My parents are totally chill with buying things from sketchy people on Craigslist (even getting scammed once) but no, meeting someone online that you've talked to for a year (but god forbid their daughter actually do that) is crazy and suicidal haha. They're very overprotective.
-

The voice I am picturing in my heads very funny. :) Nice one too, because it is totally true!
-
Bahaha, Darrin! Oh my gosh. x'D

I think we agreed to tell them that we met through DeviantART. We told a lot of people that, actually, because my family's known for a long time that I've been using that site and have made a lot of friends on there over the years. Even before her and the other aforementioned friend, I had friends in North Carolina and Texas and even a few in the UK at one point that I would Skype with every once in a while that I met through there. I remember at first they were a little wary of the connections I was making, but I think their outlook started to shift when I would Skype and they would realize I was in fact talking to real people that were close to my own age.
-
Skype is an amazing thing. I told my parents about some of my friends and I have met two deviant art friends in real life :D but sadly I have never met a sneeze fetish person outside of myself in real life. I did meet a foot fetish girl though but that was a really random encounter. Maybe someday :)
My parents do not know something's but the do know others. I am glad they trust me, but I am careful not to tell them too much. since technically they bought my computer they can and do use it when I am home from college ^^; they trust me enough where I don't really hide my sneeze fetish things very well. I do have them all right in a folder on my screen but it is not an obvious name XD that...that would be really stupid of me to do.
Anyway I think it is awesome You guys meet with each other :)
-
Well, MS.... You're an adult.... I'm sure you're allowed to meet whoever you damn well please lol.
Even with me chatting mostly on skype with my friends my parents are extremely wary. Especially after events that transpired with a jerk hole. They banned me from using Skype again, but now that I'm in college I still use it. Though I rarely talk with the former group of friends. I mostly talk to Miggs and Blurr and then the studios I'm a part of.
But anyway, this is a topic about shopping. Sorry to derail it.
-
I will try to bring this topic back.
What do you guys do at Costco when you want to have seconds, thirds, or fourths of a sample?
-
My limit is usually two. I will come up a second time, without even trying to hide myself. Though if it is so good it warrants a third, I may try to hide in a crowd and bum-rush them. I meet put my finger under my nose like a mustache, or even pretend someone is with me and fake yell at them from across the aisle, "You want one too, Prince Charming?" I will then get two at once, one for me and one for, "Prince Charming."
-
I ask politely or sneak in.
-
I just go up and grab them. When I was a kid I'd just say I wanted another. But yeah, just stroll up, grab one and run. Or two.
Or I say that my mom wanted one XD
-
Or you could go up, round house kick the table, grab as many as you can and run like heck.
-
Yes! Storm the table! Take it all, leave no survivors!
-
What do you guys do at Costco when you want to have seconds, thirds, or fourths of a sample?
It's very simple: I don't. One is enough for me. I'll just go get a sample of something else after that. ;)
-
Lead a revolution! Jump on that table waving around a mop from aisle 12! Wave it around and cause a rebellion among the people! BROTHERS! SISTERS! Together these samples can be ours!!!!!!!! BWWAAAHHAHAHHAHHAAAAAA!
-
Join me brethren! Today! We will snack until the sun goes down!
Oh shit here comes security, GRAB ALL THE SAMPLES!
-
And where do we go? There are cops outside! :o
Because of course, there are.
-
Pfff, eat them on the way out, obviously.
-
There are times when you have the best ideas. ;)
-
Why expect anything less :P
-
You had better eat those samples as you run out and get arrested. At least make the last few moments on the outside, blissful.
-
I plan too! *noms*
-
I could try and act like I have no idea why they are trying to detain me... but the garlic bread breathe would be a giveaway.
-
I love garlic bread.
-
Online-wise, Amazon and GameStop. On the other hand, the latter has been sending me pretty much discs that don't even run or are in poor shape.
When I'm at the mall though, I'm a mall junkie, so places like Barnes & Noble (if it's attached to the mall) then there's like Hot-Topic, Sears, the usual. I miss places like Suncoast Video though, or if it counts Blockbuster/Hollywood Video. xD
-
I love Barnes and Noble. Probably one of my favorites. I like to walk around the Sears tool area with my hand in my pockets and act like a REAL MAN. I kick the tires of riding lawn mowers and pick up tools, and say, "yep." ;)
-
Barnes and Nobles is wonderful. I love shopping there. Shame they keep disappearing.
-
Sears just announced a few days ago they may not be able to remain in operation.
The reasons department stores are struggling is because of online shopping. Book stores struggle because of online shopping and diversification. People are not turning away from books and Barnes and Noble jumped on the possible threat of E-Readers right away by selling some themselves.
-
I love the ease of online shopping, but some things you just can't do on it, like clothes shopping. All clothes fit differently and it is impossible to gauge what fits and what looks good.
-
Books are easy to buy online, but clothes are a hard to buy online.
-
I like to shop at Trader Joe's. Good quality for a good price.
-
I agree. :) It is a great place with a good mix of things you won't find in he usual supermarkets.
-
I like TJ's too. :)
