As long as they aren't like the infamous "death apples" that, thankfully, only grow in the tropical areas of the southern U.S. and Central/ South America. Apparently they're quite delicious, but if you eat one, you soon after feel a burning in the mouth, swelling in the throat and GI tract, and horrible stomach cramps. Even just exposure to the juice or sap of the tree on one's skin burns like hell. I first read about them in a post on the old AJM forums by a guy who was really into weird trivia. Years later I saw this in an old Navy training film (as in our military, not where you go to buy a pair of overpriced britches in some shade of brown you never heard of), and the pangs of nostalgia hit me more virulently than any poison fruit.
