As an update to this....

1917 is being praised by critics and movie goers.  It is being praised for it's cinematography, story, and realism!  I hope this film rocks it at the box office.

Article

Plot: At the height of the First World War during Spring 1917 in northern France, two young British soldiers, Schofield and Blake, are given a seemingly impossible mission to deliver a message which will warn of an ambush during one of the skirmishes soon after the German retreat to the Hindenburg Line during Operation Alberich. The soldiers race against time, crossing enemy territory to deliver the warning and keep a British battalion of 1,600 men, which includes Blake's brother, from walking into a deadly trap. The pair must give their all to accomplish their mission by surviving the war to end all wars.

1917 officially releases Jan 10, 2020 in the US.  It performed extremely well in it's limited release of 11 theaters for a night.  It garnered an unprecedented $251,000!!! In one night, in just eleven theaters!  This movie is going to be huge.

2019 was another bad year for Hollywood.  2018 was a bigger drop than 2019, but 19' saw a decline as well.  How will 2020 be?

Attendance continues to decline... will movie theaters survive in the next ten years?  How many will go out of business?

And just how fed up are people of Hollywood and their politics?  It's clearly being shown the American people are sick of Hollywood with people only attending films they support.  The past several years has seen an increase to independent conservative and Christian films and a decline to leftist big budget films.  Will this trend continue to grow in 2020 and the coming decade?

Time for a possible flop!!! Finally, Disney meeds some flops to get them to stop making trash.  This movie was pushed back four times, originally going to be release in May 2019.  Now it's January 17, 2020. So far of 58 major publication reviews, it only has a 12% average review score.  The high should be 100%.

Update on the the film, 1917.  The film made $14 million on its first day of wide release, including $3.25 million from Thursday night previews. It went on to make $36.5 million in the weekend (besting original $25 million projections), becoming the first film to dethrone Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker atop the box office.  It will surpass its budget soon.

On review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 90% based on 328 reviews, with an average rating of 8.42/10.

I'm happy for 1917. :)  It stinks because a great film like that... probably won't make as much money as something like "Dolittle" or just another super hero flick. :P

Lupin The Third: The First Movie For English Audiences

Lupin the III comes to American theaters sometime...eventually.  Released December 20, 2019 in Japan, it is slated for some worldwide releases this year in 2020.  It is currently being dubbed and a hopeful release date will be this year or next year.  In of of Japan's first fully CGI films using a stylized version of Lupin and the gang.  Personally I find this the best version of Japanese CGI to date when redoing their own characters.  They've struggled for the past decade, but this looks great!

We got another movie struggling and some are already calling it a box office bomb, which may be a bit premature.

It is performing quite poorly.  I saw ads, but nothing about it made me feel like I had to watch it.  It was nothing that hasn't been done before... Bad-a** girls... okay... yawn.

Birds of Prey has possibly broken even thought now.  They spent an estimated $90-100million.

The film is currently at $95.7 million in the box office.

I predict Sonic the Hedgehog movie will crash and burn.

I'm looking forward to that one. Thank goodness they redesigned poor Sonic! The original looked like a mutated hamster - armadillo - I - don't - even - know - what - oh thing.

I predict Sonic the Hedgehog movie will crash and burn.

Sonic the Hedgehog Film Update

Surprisingly the film is doing well.  It is at $111 million so far.  Surpassing it's $80-90 million budget.   It gone on to breaking Detective Pikachu's record for biggest opening weekend by a video game-based film.  This is coming at a complete shock.

Critics have given the film middling reviews.  On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 63% based on 136 reviews, with an average rating of 5.82/10.

But I guess you can't stop the cringe Sonic fanbase for supporting this. ;)  But there are legit Sonic fans too.  I like Sonic games.
