Thoughts and prayers to everyone in the region.  It will be a bad week for them all.  It's not the wind damage, but the water damage.  There will be flooding from Houston, to Austin, San Antonio, the entire coastline, Laredo, and into Corpus Cristi.  It is projected so far, to be very bad.  The storm will stall tonight, sort of over Port Lavaca and Victoria, then move north over there weekend, then go southward towards Laredo and then turn back to Rockport by the middle of next week.  That whole time it will be raining and have either super storm winds or hurricane force winds.  It is going to inundate this south eastern portion of Texas.

Latest model runs have changed since I first posted.  That is the problem with news articles, they get outdated, so when stuff happens, I am sure we will update it here.

Some models are now showing 50 inches of rain for areas around Rockport, Texas.  It is going to be bad.  Expected that 3.5 million will be out of power, but so far no power outages, which says a lot so far about the infrastructure.  Lots of flooding already happening along the Texas coast.  Storm surge as high as 17 feet in places already, and we are just getting started.

Sustained in the 80s right now in some places, getting gusts of 130mph in Port Lavaca.

So focusing on Rockport for example, the most rain will start falling on Saturday, almost 6 inches, then as the storm moves north, expect it to drop to 4 inches of rain, and by Monday the storm will make it's way back with nearly 8 inches of rain.  Rockport is already flooded according to webcams.  Downtown is under water... so I have no idea how they will handle this.

Victoria is going to get hit next by 1am their time.

So I am looking at the bigger city of Corpus Cristi now.  They are not getting the biggest hit and are getting offshore wind instead of onshore like some other areas.  They are not getting the biggest hit.

Because of all of this part of Texas' oil refineries, that the water and spray people will be getting hit with will taste oily and very salty.  Try not to drink it.  Very polluted oily water.  This will be an environmental disaster when we can finally see the outcome.

I will jump up now and look at Galveston, Texas.  Several tornado warnings.  It is currently 85 and about 11:30pm there.  While they are getting wind, it is not nearly as much.  Gusts around about 30mph.  Their biggest concern is rain bands and tornados.  Galveston and Houston especially are very prone to floods, so this will be a big concern.  Starting Saturday and Sunday, rain totals are expected to be over 8 inches each day with nonstop rain each day.  Monday will only drop to about 6 inches of rain, so still a ton.

I should make this clear that Dallas and Fort Worth will probably not have to worry about this storm.  Current models are not showing it reaching there.  You will get some rain though.

Austin, Texas will get heavy rain bands. Their biggest day of rain will be Saturday with over 8 inches, then it will taper off by Monday to more manageable amounts.  But rain is in their forecast till at least next Friday, all from Hurricane Harvey.

Harvey will just be stalled over southeast Texas as their is nothing pushing or pulling it away.

San Antonio is getting some rain bands right now, but by 5am their time, they will jump to a 90% chance of rain and then the rain will start coming down all through their weekend.  Saturday and Sunday will be 8 inches of rain, but then after that, Monday is clears up some.  But rain will still be happening, but under and inch till Friday.  Of course models can change as we move on, but this is based off what we have now from the US models and Euro models.

After the storm moves back from the south, it will sit over Rockport again.

Places on the fringes like Uvalde, Hondo, Laredo, Comfort, Hearne, and others are all going to get rain, some more then others.  Many of these places are expected to experience power issues as well, and you will get some wind.  Depending on the track of the storm some of these places may fall within the direct target of the storm.

If you are told to evacuate, you need to leave.

Expect Houston to suffer massive flooding.  9 inches of rain for Saturday.  8 for Sunday.  5 inches for Monday.  Houston metro will have rain every day till Saturday.

Just in, Rockport High School has been heavily damaged according to officials.  Port Lavaca and Victoria are next in this storm's path.

If anything major happens, I will come back.  Hope everyone will be okay.  Thoughts and prayers.

Remember, it isn't the winds, but the flooding we worry about.

Looks like now they have to worry about all that water as it makes it's way back to the gulf.
