My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Fake It Til You Make It
It is the 5TH episode of season 8. This is the 174thd episodes overall. The episodes premier April 14, 2018.
SYNOPSIS:
Rainbow Dash accompanies Granny Smith and her elderly friends as a chaperone at Las Pegasus.
-
Should I be concerned that the episode is named after a well-known adult video series (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girls_Gone_Wild_(franchise))? :'(
-
^ Yeah, from the same producers as the Banned from Television "shockumentary" video series. That reference is a tiny bit worrying. ;p
The plot sounds hilarious. I can't wait to see this. :D
-
I wonder how Dash got stuck wit this job. ;D Applejack guilted her into it?
-
For some reason the synopsis of this doesn't get me interested. Maybe it's because I don't particularly care for Granny Smith and I am sort of worried Rainbow won't learn anything and be a jerk.
-
I'm pretty excited. :) I want to see them go back to Las Pegasus.
-
^ I guess that is true. We will probably get some new locations to see and probably some new characters. :)
-
@Wolfwood
Don't worry, I won't spoil anything but Dash was top notch.

Worries me. Either good or bad. ;D

Time for a live watch, so sit back and enjoy my random LIVE comments.
-
Soarin'!!!! :D
-
Is this a co-ed locker room?
-
Pinkie Pie destroyed.
-
Theme song.
-
Applejack can save the day! Take my grannies!
-
My live watch was stalled.... but here we go again.
-
So Dash has to take Granny Smith and her oldies buddies to Las Pegasus.
-
Old people and ride or teaching and no ride?
-
Cherry Berry is officially a balloon pone!
-
Applejack is a good pone.
-
Lol, the balloon is so slow.
-
Cat tried to commit suicide.
-
Welcome to Las Pegasus!!!!
-
It's actually a pretty cool concept that this place is in the clouds and it has paths for everyone to walk on. It's also extremely dangerous.
-
Flim Flam have a hotel? Why do they have a statue?
-
Old grannies are getting a little.... horny.
-
APPLESAUCY!
-
This reminds me of the Golden Girls.
-
That cat.....
-
Granny escaped!!!
-
Lyra and Bon Bon taking a pic together!
-
So they don't gamble... it's a place of just playing carnival type games?
-
Applejack telling Dash stuff through her mind is funny.
-
Dash says it all when the old people flirt. "So gross." lol.
-
Have to pause again.
-
So they don't gamble... it's a place of just playing carnival type games?
So less like Sin City, Nevada, more like Branson, Mo.? I guess it's tougher to Pony-ize "Branson", though... so what's Dashie doing, taking these old gals to the four p.m. early-bird buffet, hitting the nickel slots real quick, and then taking them to see the Pony version of Tom Jones in concert? Although I think Pegasus Yakov Smirnoff or Unicorn Gallagher would be funnier....
-
We are back!!
-
Dash, good things come to those who wait.
-
That male pony magician I am willing to bet is Trixie's father. He's the same color and ever looks the same!
-
He even has the same eye color!!!
-
"Do I really have to say anything?"
-
Dash was trying to be responsible honestly. So I can't fault her for that.
-
All the pones hating on Applejack. ;D
-
Did the oldie just make a sex joke?
-
Here is your one week old dream coming true, Dash!!!
-
Okay, that was actually a pretty cute episode. I am glad I watched it. 8/10.
-
^ Good rating. Makes me look even more forward to getting to watch it. :D
-
I have to wonder--if you can already fly at Mach 6 and cause frigging sonic booms, why all this fuss over a roller coaster? I mean, yeah, yeah, peer pressure and all that, but, still... seems--I dunno-- anticlimactic. Also, if you look real close, you can see Soarin' getting ready to hurl in that photo. He's lucky he didn't get his Wonderbolt nickname over that incident.
This reminds me of the Golden Girls.
Yes! if I didn't know Rue McClanahan (Blanche) had passed, I'd swear she was the voice of the old gal trying to flirt with the bellboy.
I think the reason these grandmares book these vacations is to get away from being babied by relatives and all this nonsense about naps and soft food and avoiding excitement. Applejack means well, but I don't think she realizes this.
Bless their hearts. I figure these gals must have a couple of dozen kids between the lot of them ... and, well, you know they got here somehow. Just because there's a few thousand miles on the odometer doesn't mean the motor's stopped running, y'know.
-
That male pony magician I am willing to bet is Trixie's father. He's the same color and even looks the same!
He also uses the same lame "disappearing" act. He could be some relative of Trixie's-- maybe the one who taught her all her best tricks.
Also, Vinyl Scratch is working the hotel dance club deejay booth. She must have to do a powerful lot of commuting if she can work both big venues like a Las Pegasus hotel and Pinkie's private parties down in Ponyville.

This episode was fun. It could have easily gone wrong, but I feel like Dash was in character and the gags were really nice. It certainly wasn't what I expected, but I'm glad it wasn't.
Also:

"Aw jeez."

"Say my name."
I didn't notice the references, those are cool! I also thought of the Golden Girls a lot when watching all the old gran-nannies! I feel this episode could have gone down a path of horribleness, but it strafed away from it pretty good. Rainbow Dash legitimately was trying to be a good pony and do the right thing, even if she was a little dumb about it at times.... but she isn't the brightest anyways. ;) Overall I would say it was an enjoyable episode and it was nice to see the Grannies be different then their usual selves.
8/10

@Kiwi
I think this episode was a pleasant suprise. Rainbow's interactions with the grans, the grans' other side we don't really see, the references, and the biggest being
a stallion that is probably Trixie's dad.
-
@Binkyt11
Soda mentioned that as well that it was probably Trixie's dad. I read her live reaction and she thought that right away. I didn't think that when I first saw him, it didn't occur to me, but when they appeared on stage it hit me.
-
Very enjoyable episode. Cute moments from RD. <3

Some one asked Jim after the episode aired. His response just raised more questions.
...But Does HE know he's Trixie's father?
-
I agree that Dash made a few epic faces in the episode... But I can't help but really love this one. It's so simple, yet... so freakin' adorable.

One guy on Derpibooru says she has an adorable snout. And they're right. X3
-
I thought it was a good episode and more strong then some others this season. But it still just lacked a bit to me. It was definitely more complete then the season opener which I thought was really not that good. 7/10.

The Golden Horsehoe Gals = The Golden Girls!

This face!
7/10 for one of the better episodes involving Rainbow Dash.
-
^ dash just got an electric seizure
that doesnt exist
oh well
-
Lol! that face made me lol.
-
...But Does HE know he's Trixie's father?
Y'know, watching those two hang around the lounge schmoozing the female clientele, it kind of struck me that those two fellows aren't particularly good stage magicians, but I'll bet they sure know a couple of tricks to make a lady's knickers disappear, heh heh.
-
I am sure he knows there must be a few Trixie's our there with how much this guy probably pleases the mares.
This episode gets a 7/10 from me. It was good, much better then some others this episode. But not quite up there to be an 8 in my opinion.
-
Sorry, I wasn't fully invested in the episode. While it was better then some previous ones, I will have to place it at a 6/10.
