I've talked to him before. He's such a nice friendly guy. I asked him something.... And he was such a sweetheart about it.
We even talked a bit about Autumn Summer ^^

I've read a majority of the comic I think. I like the humor. It's not super absurd or obscene or anything of the sort, instead it's just... well, humor.

This still is truly my favorite online comic.  I might be bias because of the sneezes... but I love how it improved visually and I just love all the story arcs?  Am I still being bias?
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion
Post by: Death Blossom on 2016-02-18 13:16:45
Oh yeah, it's still a good story. I'm actually not a big fan of the sneezes in this comic. Their noses are like, too rounded and big. But the story is definitely great :)

I wanna know that and so many other things.  So many of the secondary characters were given these very compelling attributes and stories.  I just want to know more about them and have their stories go on.

I would love to see Berry Punch and her love life touched on again.  I had so many feels when she made that line how no stallions ever want to go beyond friends with her.  I kinda just want a miniseries on HER.  As well as so many other characters from this series.  They took whole new lives, other then just background characters.  They have depth, but we aren't flooded with info too fast like so many series do.

Scootaloo's Scootaquest, namely the artist/writer, AJM, made these characters interesting and believable.  Something MLP:FiM couldn't and hasn't done.  I mean... look at episode 100 of MLP.

As much as I would love to have there be miniseries of the characters, I doubt that will ever happen.  Just too much work and time consuming.  So when this series is over, I think we will just have to be happy with what we have.  Just remember how good a ride this series was.  There isn't many out there that do that.

My question is, would you guys STILL like this series if it didn't have sneezing and sickness?  Is that the only thing that drew you in?
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion
Post by: Death Blossom on 2016-02-19 08:36:31
The sneezing is what certainly caught my attention.
But as I've said, when I found the series I still hadn't registered that I liked sneezing, and the way the sneezing was drawn put me off to the point I didn't read it. It was only after I joined PSF for a few months that you guys got me to read it.

Heh, to be honest MasterX, I used to not like your art either D: it looked so much like AJM's art and I was like "is there any other style!" But then your style changed a bit and I warmed up to it.

I can see a little bit of AJM's influence in almost everyone's style, honestly. xD But what can I say? He's done a LOT of art pertaining to the community through this. It only makes sense that people would want to emulate his work in their own way.

Cool to know some backstory from people.

Well I closely followed my style to theirs, and I know that many artists followed their style or mine.  I even originally thought of just doing vectors of their work, or high quality versions of their sneeze pics for people.  That eventually spawned into numerous other things and my career here at PSF.

This series was an inspiration to me, but so was the work by others, especially RainySunshine and MasterX.  I really look forward to an ending.

What do you think Luna's intentions are?  Is she bad, or is she actually trying to help for some bigger cause we don't know about?  Giorgio A. Tsoukalos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUl3TSoUABs) could probably provide a wonderful ending possibility involving, ALIENS.
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion
Post by: Death Blossom on 2016-02-20 20:03:14
Lol aliens?
I think she set all this up so she could swoop in and be the hero.
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion
Post by: RainySunshine on 2016-02-20 20:06:48
She set all this up to be a hero.

But one major thing I overlooked, when she put Celestia, "to sleep," she had a tear.  Like she was sorry about doing it.
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion

Which confused me when I was thinking: "What are her motives?".
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion
Post by: Blurr on 2016-02-20 20:08:54
That's what I was thinking too. she was tired of people looking at her negatively so she set this all up so she could make a better image for herself

I NEVER thought about that!  Oh my gosh!  This kind of changes everything!  WOW!  WOWWW!

I can't believe I never pieced that together.

So is she regretting doing this even before she did it?
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion
Post by: RainySunshine on 2016-02-20 20:14:46
There have been many "Sections" in this series from the beginning stages, the round up, the vacation home scenes, the interrogation scenes, and of course the early Luna scenes.

Prediction that I don't believe, Commander Griggs, remember him?  Yeah, he comes in and saves the day!  Best background pone. ;)

It is actually fairly recent that Luna did her act of rebellion.  It wasn't until episode 22 that she put them to sleep.
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion
Post by: Death Blossom on 2016-02-20 22:00:17
Yeah, pretty interesting. I did notice the tear. She doesn't want to, but she's tired of people being scared of her, so she wants to be seen as the hero.

She is going about it the wrong way though.  She has already blamed Trixie for doing it all.

Well river can do a good fluttershy...that much I know
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion
Post by: Death Blossom on 2016-02-22 06:21:12
Well one, its super long. It would be hard to find dedicated enough people to voice the characters.
Two, it's not the most popular comic out there.
Three, people would just voice the sneezes as "aahchoo".

And I can do more than Fluttershy, Blurr.
And besides, most of the other characters are background characters with no established voice, so really anybody could voice them.
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion
Post by: Blurr on 2016-02-22 10:49:08
What other voices can you do?
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion
Post by: Death Blossom on 2016-02-22 10:53:44
Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Apple Bloom, Scootaloo (might need some more practice on that, haven't done it in a while), and Vinyl Scratch.
And as stated before, most of the other characters are background ponies, you can give them any voice you want.

Miggs, that actually made me laugh out loud XD

I can do two Vinyls, the higher raspier sounding one, or the Nowhacking one.

That one line Octavia does, easy peasy, British accents only get tough for extended dialogue where you have to remember different pronunciations of words.
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion

She isn't free? As in she's super busy, or like she charges?

I know the girl who did Rainbow's voice in the fan animation "Double Rainboom" buuuut, I kinda really didn't like her portrayal of Rainbow.
I might know another person who can voice Rainbow. Or we could just screw around and make Rainbow have a dudes voice XP

You have to understand that dubbing a comic that's already this long wouldn't be a favor. This would be a full on job for her. And she wants to do this professionally in her future. She's been paid for commissions lots of times before and she has to make money.

She could also get a real job.
Besides, lots of people put in hard work and effort for free for fan projects. Take all the voice actors for the Fallout Equestria animation. None of us are paid. And we aim for professional quality.

But whatever. If she can't do it, she can't do it.

You know it's not really fair to talk like that. She HAS a real job she's just on leave before her next contract starts. But there's nothing wrong man with trying to make a few more bucks on the side.

Yeah, but like, how when many people do what she's offering for free?
It doesn't seem very lucrative.

A lot of people do offer for free but a lot more ask for a price. She's not the only one of my friends who does this and she actually makes some good side money off it.

Well, "forgotten", meaning that nobody seems to ever talk about it anymore.

I want opinions!

I have often wondered, what would the target audience and demographic range be for this comic?  Is this considered a kids comic with some adult jokes?  There is kissing, and some butts and what not... is this an adult comic?  I mean, there is no cussing... so what is it?
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion
Post by: Death Blossom on 2016-03-07 00:50:10
Scootaloo's Scootaquest would be a family friendly comic. As stated by the creator. Doesn't mean they're not above some humor that would go over kids heads. I'd say it would be safe enough for maybe 10 years and up. Although there is a large number of plot shots that I think would be considered excessive for a kid demographic, and I'm sure parents wouldn't exactly be okay with their kids exposed to so much butt, but We Bare Bears seem to get away with it with Pan Pan's butt.

There's also Lyra's "Oh poo..." line XP
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion
Post by: Anyponedrawn on 2016-03-07 01:17:57
Kids think butts are funny.

There isn't TOO many butts.

I think it is family friendly for the most part, but there are a few more adult themes.  Dr. Stable has his adult moments... and Spitfire and Soarin's kiss is pretty wild.
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion
Post by: Death Blossom on 2016-03-07 06:24:31
Well like, I mean that the shots of the males staring at females asses might make parents raise their eyebrows and rethink their kids watching/reading it.

And I don't see how kissing would be bad. Shining Armor and Cadance kiss in the show. Hell, Jerry would kiss Tom in the old cartoons.

When we go through slow periods, we tend to drag up these big overarching topics about comics.  If that isn't a thing, it is now a thing.

So enjoy reading these...

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/WebComic/ScootaloosScootaquest

What if we took some time and made one for AT&F?  Might be a fun side thing.

Oh yeah, I forgot I made that for Scootaquest. I should get back on that...

And hmm, maybe? I mean, there's no overarching story. The most you could put on is stuff about how everyone is an asshole, twilight is a hopeless romantic, All Woman Are Lustful, and uh... Maybe children are evil with how they mock Twilight and how Spike is a little brat XD

I'll see what I can do though haha.

Also, what's the thing with Adorkable Twilight and Friends?

Ponies: The Series was going to be a huge overlapping branch off of Scootaloo's Scootaquest.  I was going to make high quality series using the same styled characters, same world, same everything as Scootaquest, but just follow other characters.  Of course I never got to do that... but since I still have the name, "Ponies:The Series," I did the next best thing I could do and find another series to put under it's banner for the time being.

Uh... kind of.  It won't be the same.  Though some things will be the same... similar.... but it isn't the route I was originally going to do.

Twilight was not going to be apathetic and sorrowful of herself.  Rarity was gonna be... well... like that.  Etc, etc.

But this will be fun nonetheless. :)  I got many stories and ideas that I can contribute and add.

Won't answer that.  Lets keep some things as is.  I am not promoting it out loud.

My personal content that I would make, never dives as deep into sexual humor as this series would, but there are many positives to this series that can be worked with, and I feel it can create a positive message for an older audience.  So Yeah, I will leave it at that.

I really just can't.  The drive to continue is there, I want too.  But... time.  Life... it's just too much.  Most of Scootaquest was done when I was away at college, so I had heaps of time to produce it.  Now I just don't. :-/  It saddens me too.

Here are three panels in no particular order.  They are not finished, final expressions are not on the characters, well not all of them, ad shading, etc, all needs to be done as well as final writing.

The image with Cuffs and Trixie, the background is not done, Cuffs is a placeholder image of him, but that was to show me he is going to be placed there.  Trixie is near done in that shot.

The image with Cuffs and Brass, is near completion.  Shading and final stuff needs to be done as well as text bubbles.

The image with the exterior shot of Lake Altai is very rough.  Lots of shading and ponies are to be added to it.  It is a background scene.

No way!!!  This is so cool!  You actually did have stuff done! :D  I can't thank you enough for sharing these.  I feel lucky to be here right now.

Did I ever mention how much I love Sergeant Brass' graying hair.  All the cops were really good, and the backgrounds.  Trixie looks awesome.

Eeee, more Officer Cuffs haha. But wow, things getting heated! I find it really cool to see behind the scenes how you put together the comic. Really cool stuff man.

Totally not weird I ship him and Star Dusk right?

Thank you both.

What made you develop Officer Cuffs, Brass, and Star Dusk so much?  I mean, usually some cops containing people would just be purely background and disposable.
Title: Re: Scootaloo's Scootaquest Discussion

They just seemed like the most senior cops, I don't know why. Also, they're the only ones really seen "interacting" with each other besides Brass.

Oooh really?

I felt it would make the reader be more involved in the story if they got multiple perspectives of the situation, and lets say someone didn't relate to Scootaloo.  Maybe they would relate with a different characters like Applejack, Lyra, or one of the background character OC's?  As I said, I love character development, probably to a fault.

They were higher ranking officials, despite their "officer" names.  PPD was a small department, and for some reason, they didn't have a ranking system... well... I didn't make it to begin with.  I just hoped no one would notice they didn't have titles except for Sergeant Brass, who was not actually the police chief.

I wanted a strong female lead in Star Dusk, and I wanted Brass to be strong, but with faults.  He needed Cuffs, Star Dusk, and others to make him a great leader.  Good leaders aren't good on their own.  They are as good as they people they surround themselves with.

Both of those answers were seriously great.  I like you.  You should be a writer on all these tv shows out there that don't develop characters good.  I think you would be good at that!

I love all this insider insight.  It's like the special features section of a DVD.

Dude your so awesome. I just love how you work with this series and give it so much thought. I love the cops because they're funny, relatable, and just realistic. Brass isn't perfect, his officers aren't perfect, but they work together. And that's important. And they do the best they can.

Wait what! Meep, me!? Dude no way, Grapefoot is like, leagues better than moi haha. But wow, that just, I feel good now ^////^

I look around online and look at some artist who is amazing, then look them up and they are like... 12.  I am shocked at how developed some people are.  It took me a ton of hard work to get to the point I am at.

I remember all the hurdles and influences.  One of the biggest changing points for me was learning to draw characters that were not differentiated by just hair.  In the old days, my male characters had short hair and the girls simply had long hair.  Being able to learn body shapes helped so much.  But I had growing pains during that, it was tough for me, but one of my biggest accomplishments in drawing.

I'm gonna post this in here as to not possibly spoiler people in Adorkable Twilight & Friends, and it is related to both.

Here were some transition pictures of Commander Griggs.  I won't go into detail, but this was a sketch dump if you will, and one of these was chosen to be Commander Grigg's without his armor.  I'll say nothing more.  We have them for other characters too.

I think LP, might like this.

I found this pic from at least 2012, maybe 2011.  It is the earliest known example online of LP's cop crush, Officer Cuffs.  He has the same basic design, but he improved over time.  I think his buddy there is also still around, but as a background cop.  I don't even know if they had names yet in this pic.

There are some great channels, but so many dumb ones.

I've never quite understood the interest of people watching "let's plays."  So you watch someone play a game you could be playing?  I understand if it is to see gameplay... but to watch them play games every day?

Yes, you're right.  But it is truly astonishing how bad some of it.  There are people who spend HOURS a day just watching youtube videos.  That would make it as bad as the addictions people had with tv a decade earlier.

It is just addictions to tv or Youtube, but addictions to the internet, to technology.  Being constantly told your are great and being patted on the back online, instantly.  It is a generation of, "Hey look what I did?!  Am I special too?"
