-
So yeah, i can't wait to watch this.
-
Live watch.
-
I am excited a lot about this episode. Here goes.
-
Oh so... Starlight is now helping Trixie at magic shows?
-
This is a thing. Good job Trixie!
-
They worked well together.
-
Scarily walk away from that song...
-
Theme song.........
So far I am curious as to what they will do together. Clearly some kind of journey based on the title... right?
-
Starlight is POWERFUL. You are right Trixie.
-
Who is that guy?
-
Well you obviously haven't seen much buster....
-
You can't trade. Trixie just danced....?
-
She just moon walked.
-
Trixie, you can't go to Saddle Arabia.
-
She lays so seductively on that couch.
-
I really like these two together hanging out. It's awesome.
-
Does Trixie pull that wagon?
-
Camp fire spices?
-
Tight living quarters.
-
They will be real intimate during this trip.
-
Lol! Trixie getting out of bed it funny.
-
So Trixie does indeed pull this thing. Thats heavy.
-
They haven't even left Ponyville yet. Gonna be a LONG trip.
-
Lol! I like this song. I liked the jazzy intro! Wow.
-
This is a catchy song!! WOW!
-
The raft came in handy!
-
This is a lot of fun, hahahahaha! So far a very good episode.
-
I can already tell I wish this episode was longer then it is.
-
These two are pretty funny together too. Like a buddy buddy movie.
-
Saddle Arabia looks COOL!
-
So Trixie has been here before?!
-
Uh oh. They are starting to get on each other's nerves.
-
They just have to sleep in the wagon.
-
Don't get snippety here girls.
-
Good girl, Trixie. You are trying to take the high road.
-
Yeaaaahhh!
-
It's not JUNK! Lol! This is a well written episode. Compared to others, you can see whoever was writing this was just running on all cylinders.
-
Starlight snores!!!!
-
Good solution.
-
Lol! No more food.
-
The buildings and setting of the town is very cool.
-
Good show girls! I can tell your hearts are very much in it!
-
Who was in that chest?
-
This is how episodes of this show should be. This is very good so far.
-
Nice lighting effects with the fire.
-
These two can both get very mad.
-
Lol! Runs off funny all the time.
-
That was a perfectly good carrot wasted.
-
You just done messed up, Starlight.
-
Trixie's memories are in that old wagon.
-
Awww... Poor Trixie.
-
Wow, things are really breaking down here.
-
Poor Trixie is just dragging her stuff.
-
I like how he called Trixie, "Ms. Powerful."
-
He wasn't dishonest.
-
I want to know the meaning of this wagon by Trixie.
-
LOL! I love how Trixie just rolls in front of the wagon.
-
Lol! This episode is great. It's like a totally different show.
-
Kinda done screwed up Starlight. It's too heavy.
-
Starlight... you pretty much just left Trixie in SADDLE ARABIA by herself.
-
Lol! Trixie is funny.
-
About time, Starlight.
-
What is this horse guys name?
-
A magic show!
-
No, do a magic show.
-
Hahahahaha! These two are ridiculous!
-
That was very funny.
-
Give back that wagon horse guy.
-
Lol! They were a disaster.
-
There are tons of new background settings in this show.
-
I really like these two and this may have been the best episode this season.
-
LOL! Thats who was in the chest!!!
-
Okay, this to me was the best episode of season 8 so far! It had so much going for it and it was legitimately funny throughout! It really felt like the writer was running on all cylinders writing this. All the characters were top notch and it was a great buddy-buddy adventure! I wish more episodes were like this in terms of everything coming together and the silly slapstick humor.
10/10!!!!! It was awesome!

Same here! It felt nice seeing some locations again (the swamp I'm pretty sure is the only new one, appearing as far as I can remember in "The End in Friend). The rest like Ghastly Gorge, that firey place from "Somepony To Watch Over Me", and Somnambula from last season. It really did feel like a different show, but still had that charm that reminded you that "Hey. This still FIM", and even a little bit of the charm felt by the earlier seasons (1-3) like the duo jokingly dismissing some things like Twilight and Cadance's dance (which I'm so glad to see in a casual manner again), the incredibly cheesy song that you can't find yourself hating because it's just so wholesome, funny, and sounds amazing, and after a long time now— some of the best breaking of the 4th wall the show has had in a while. They leaned on it at the end of the episode where the old Somnambulan stallion at the end I'm pretty asked if the show was over yet, and one of the best ones came during the song which I'll get into later.
As for the characters, it feels great to see their bond grow stronger ever since they met. It feels genuine and real, they both help each other out and learn a lot from it. Starlight was phenomenal in this episode by showing that she's willing to go through so much to help her best friend, and some of the gags involving her like the street food gag and over packing were just simple and funny. As for Trixie, I can't be anymore prous of her. She feels like a character that made a complete 180 in her character and attitude, but personality wise feels just as she did when we first met her back in season 1. She was incredibly endearing to watch and honestly has made some progress. One issue I've seen fans recently have with her recently is that they felt like she wasn't being treated seriously as a character after she returned. They felt like she was way more obnoxious, flanderized, weaker (in the magical sense), and treated more like a joke. While I disagree with her being like this most of the time, I'll be completely honest and say that at times it does feel like that. Here she feels so much more natural to her older appearances, but still feels fresh as a character. Her boastfulness has been subdued to a comfortable amount, she shows a lot more humbleness to everypony, and it's subtle— but I think Starlight has been helping Trixie become good at magic again. Hell, even better than before Magic Duel happened. It goes to show that the writers are taking notice and go out of their way to strengthen characters where they need it the most.
And as for new characters, the only new one we meet is Hoo'far, who is funnily enough the first new Saddle Arabian character we've met since Magic Fuel when the race was introduced. And hey, he's a Unicorn! There goes the headcanon that Saddle Arabians are all earth ponies or otherwise, normal looking horses in Equestria. Anyway, I know some people found him annoying due to how often he shows up during the episode, but in all honesty, he helps move the episode along. He offers to make a trade to help Trixie, he knows how good friends they are, and when the time came for him to trade Trixie's wagon back he wanted nothing else for it aside from the fact that he knows that they really do care about each other. Plus the fact that he had shown so much genuine interest in the show just made it all the better since he really did care enough to help Trixie out. ^-^
Now then… as I mentioned earlier, there was one particular moment in the song that caught me off guard when I heard it. And that would come from this line here:
Trixie: For untold seasons yet to come, our friendship will be here!
Starlight: For nine at least.
I missed on my first watch, but seeing it again it was an obvious confirmation that there will be at least be a season 9. Had it not been for the December leaks, this may have been the first confirmation of a new season. And from within the show no less! Do you know how fucking awesome that is to have something confirmed like this? The didn't need to, but they did!
And well… before I go on this tangent, there are spoilers ahead about some possible info from the December leaks. These are major ones that affect a lot more than the show, so if you don't wanna know, I would skip this part entirely.
In the leaks, there was a supposedly official Planning calander that went from somewjere around 2016 to 2020. In the 2020 secrion, there was something there to imply that G4 is coming to an end very soin, and that season 9 might be the last planned season for FIM. It was such a grim reminder when we first found out since we already had an 8th season on the way and season 7 had just ended. Put together by a statement made by Hasbro back in 2014 that stated that there were at least 4-5 years of G4 left, made it an all too real reminder that nothing lasts forever. However, seeing this scene makes it a little better with just how it's done. Let the untold seasons yet to come be a possible season 10, or that even after the show ends that they will still be best friends. And hell if you really wanna go meta, after the show ends the fans and their impact of the show will be something felt by the franchise in years to come. It really does bring in a sense of closure on the whole matter since so many fans worry what will happen to MLP after G4 ends. If this was something planned before the leaks, good on them for doing it in such a creative way! And, while unlikely- if it was just a last minute thing added after the leaks, it was a great way of reassuring the fans that no matter what the characters, the show, and the franchise will move on together. Regardless, it was a very well needed thing after much uncertainty surrounding the show since season 6 or 7 For many fans.
I felt this may have been the most complete episode I've seen in awhile. It all came full circle the the writer did a fantastic job at making it seem real and natural. The communication was the best and not just these tropey forced lines these characters are supposed to say. No one said stupid stuff. It was natural and their bond and growth was well represented.
What I felt was astounding here is how much Trixie has grown. Starlight is still very bull-headed and stubborn. They both are, but Trixie has gotten over that more it seems. It's great to see they aren't perfect and this is what makes this show so great. Episodes like this. It used to be more common for sure, but this is one of those episodes you will remember in the list of bests.
10/10!

Have this too.

I think this was my favorite episode this season. I know there were some really good ones this season, but I think this takes top spot.
10/10 score from me.

This episode. WAS GREAT.
Loved the interactions between Starlight and Trixie. So much funny things happen. XD
Awesome episode. :D
-
The tall blue horsey guy had some strange ulterior motive. i am convinced.
Episode was good and fun. I liked the trying to sleep scene. It didn't exactly make a lasting impression, the moral wasn't too profound, but the characters were written much better and the plot was big and round.
I like Starlight's getting over omg-i-need-to-keep-this-friendship-forever-i-cannot-let-it-go-i-must-do-everything-ever-to-ensure-that-she-still-likes-me-still-new-to-friendship mode. she's a cool, sort of tough-lovey character.
9+9/10 out of 10

So is this the best episode of season 8? To date?

To me it was right up there for sure. I loved how the entire episode was handled and done. Pacing was great and the characters were at their very best. It was like the Starlight and Trixie show, and it was superb! 10/10!
